Yes, you do if you want updated drivers and stuff. For a rom like HD he needs kernel source and updated drivers.

It's been a while since the last time I was building and modifying a TW ROM, but I was under the impression that everything is included in the updated firmware base. Once a flashable zip is created from this base, the modifications come from changes through frame-work res, jar files, etc. You're making it sound like he is completely reverse engineering the base. I'm probably wrong, but I just wanted to understand your reasoning.

HD is a bit more then that. It is heavily modified with bits and pieces for two other devices. Drivers and kernel are separate things.

You will loose root as it is total stock and is untoched. I have provided a link for root so just read the thread.

If you need any more help I can help after 7 hours as I need sleep now cause I got work in 6 hours ?

Ps: I think our beloved is has downloaded this so he might begin work when he has time and if he finds this rom good to become hyperdrive?

Check my post in general forum i made a guide for rooting along with fast links for stock 5.1.1 rom which we can use until op starts work on 5.1.1 hyperdrive.
If he has any plans to continue this rom that is.

I've already seen your post a few days ago and you already got a thanks for the how-to but I'm out of my home for a few weeks with no PC so I need a flashable zip to test newest sammy 5.1.1!

Someone else asked me about that as well but I don't know how to do that and even if I knew you would still need a pc to flash bootloader via odin I think.

I would love to update to LL in this ROM. Holding out till it actually happens. Currently running it in KK and its the best. for my P600.

I'll certainly look into it! I won't have time to update the rom until around Christmas time so it will most likely be updated around then. KK is still running excellent for me
