i have problems with my 64gb sd card. I can reach content by recovery twrp file manager but not after boot in system. It says blank or unsupported file system. No problem on Sd, I check it on other devices also on windows. There must be something missing. The sd have 2 partitions, when install link2sd it is possible to see partition 2 by link2sd script but I find no way to see partition 1 content. Have also stickmount and es explorer installed. Please help

Copy over the content to your windows desktop, then put the SD card back into tablet, then use the SD manager to format the card.

Once that is complete, then remove it and put it into your PC and copy back the content you backed up.

If all that works then you know that however you formated it last, is not going to be compatible with the way Linux reads the partition table.

Cheers,

David.

I'm hoping someone could help me with this, but I'm looking to use one of my micro sd cards as internal storage to have my game apps installed because of how much room they take up. But when I set it up as internal storage it doesn't ask me what I want to transfer on to it, it just says the normal internal storage will have 36 GB free space upon completion. But I have no idea what's being transferred on, it doesn't tell me. And I just want to transfer on those few large apps. Is there any way at all to do this?

Hey there,

You typically would not set it up as an "Internal Storage" but "External" so that way you can designate where your apps will go, some applications these days can detect that you have an SD card and will install to that or, put the cache/storage folder on there. However you can use a plethora of applications on the play store that will allow you to transfer a game or application from the internal storage to the external one, and it will also update the symlinc of the shortcuts to point to the SD card as well.

However make sure you have a minimum of class 10 SD card, once you transfer things over to it including your photos, they can slow down your phone if they do not have a fast read-write capability, if you can afford something like the Samsung Evo Pro or the latest Sandisk with a higher than class 10 rating, then that should be the go as your internal storage is waaaaaaay faster than a MicroSD, but it will be forced to run slower if the external card is slower, and even slower if you make the SD card part of the internal storage.

Hope this makes sense for you :)

David.

Yes, you should definitely avoid formatting microSD cards as Internal Storage as this may well drag the performance of the entire device down, depending upon the quality of the SD card.

I can recommend the 128Gb SanDisk Ultra microSD with the P900. My primary use is mapping and I store all of my OS maps on the SD for use with Alpine Quest. I also store UK maps for OSMAND+ on the SD. Performance is good and map access is very smooth in both apps.

These 128Gb cards are pretty cheap on-line these days, but beware of fakes. I bought all three of mine from eBay, pre-tested and with screen shots to prove authenticity.

From personal experience I would avoid the red and white SanDisk 64Gb microSD cards. I had three of these fail within two years due to a manufacturing default. Luckily, SanDisk honoured their 10yr warrantee and replaced all three.

Hey Guys,

Long time no talk. Been busy with the holidays and works. I am working Nougat. So far it is looking good. I am working on getting it bug free before I release it. In other news, the next release will have some battery optimization in it. I have been testing it and it looks very promising. I will release that as soon as I can get something out that is ready for the public. Last item of business, the Exynos5420 Team has been working really hard developing a kernel auditor for the Exynos5420 devices. It going to awesome. It practically can control everything kernelwise. We are looking to release it sometime and December.

In other news, thank you all for the logs on the S Pen. I know the issue now. It is now the battle of trying to figure out how to fix it.

Last bit but not least, @DGT79 is helping me out on getting responses back to faster. I have been so busy trying to fix things and work on N I don't have a ton of time to respond on XDA. As always, if you have issue or questions, please feel free to ask but search the thread first to make sure it hasn't been asked. @DGT79 and I enjoy making this device the best it can.

Alright that is all I got for right now. Keep giving the feedback and I will keep fixing items.

Well I can safely say that this latest version has a pretty awesome drain rate for the battery, whilst I did dirty flash it, it seems to have worked quite well given that my tablet is not in the greatest operational state with a failing battery, so this update has helped quite a bit in prolonging its use.

Wifi issues seem to have gone, which it seems I am back to full throughput, where as the previous two builds I would have throughput issues until I rebooted the tablet, so good to see this back in healthy order.

Audio has also improved, not sure if @thompatry had done anything on that front with this build as I have not had a chance to review the update log for it, but this could be a cause and effect result from doing a flash.

I have not had any lockups or random reboots yet, but I will be keeping a close eye on this as it takes about 4-5 days after an upgrade to see any surface (Based on my current usage of the tablet).

I hope to have a report back to @thompatry on the beta testing of this new build within about 48-72 hours, as I still need to test it from a clean flash with and without a rebuild of applications.... But based on current usage models, it could be ready for public release by weeks end if the testing goes well :)

Any way guys keep up the feedback, having these updates come through helps prolong these tablets and the use of them, whilst there is nothing out in the market place that I think comes even close to our style of tablet, these updates that @thompatry is doing does indeed increase the life of them, and believe it or not, it is also a great selling feature if you ever did decide to sell it, having a device that can upgrade to the latest version due to community efforts makes them a much more attractive offer that's for sure.

I will be sending over some more beer money soonish as a gesture of thanks for your efforts @thompatry.

Cheers,

David.

has anyone used a mhl hdmi adapter with this rom? I bought one a couple of days ago, it works with my galaxy note 3, but I couldn't get anything out of the tablet.

I posted a while back to Thom......he's working on a fix for it. Hopefully the next release cures the problem.

cool, thanks :) I did search inside the thread for mhl and nothing came up.
I don't have an MHL adapter to test for you, so I cannot test it on the latest beta for you... I will check today at work if I can find one laying around and if I can, I will do some testing for you :)

David.

cool, what do you need to do to test it? if it's a matter of installing system logging software and posting what it does when the mhl adapter is connected, I don't mind doing that?

This is exactly what I need. Use the Syslog app that it linked in the first post.

-------------------------------------------

New build is up everyone. Nothing to crazy changed but well worth flashing for the optimizations. You can probably dirty flash but I ask to only report issues when coming from a clean flash.

Changelog
  • Cleaned up and reorganized the config files
  • Battery optimizations from the kernel side

In other news, like I said earlier, I am working on CM-14.1 and a kernel auditor will be released soon for the Exynos5420 devices. I am getting close to releasing CM-14.1. Maybe a Christmas present? We shall see.

As always keep giving the great feedback!

Enjoy! Link

Excellent work squire :highfive:

A mate of mine has a beta build of CM14.1 on his Note 10.1 and it is remarkably stable. The split screen implementation is pretty good as well, so now I am really looking forward to your first CM14.1 release :good:

so you'd just need a log from immediately before connecting it to the tv to immediately after disconnecting?
would you like one for connecting an external hard drive with a otg cable too, or do you already know what's going on with that?

Just a heads up... a bug that a end user discovered is the microphone does not work in some apps such as "Ok Google". Also I am looking into Hangout crashing when doing a video call. I will release a fix in the next built soon.
Havent hit these two problems i my testing... Hmmmm this is interesting to see :)

I will do some more testing and see if I can generate the issue on my tablet, I wonder if the reason why I am not getting it is because I have butchered it with so many dirty flashes LOL.

Cheers,

David.
