OK Google Issue

Hello,
and thank you very much for doing such a good job!
Unfortunately I have the same microphone issue with the spoken Google search or keyboard functionality. So I am not able to dictate a text. It appears with different nightlies and gapps. I separately deleted and installed the Google app (microphone). Did not work. I am not able to activate the Training of the spoken 'OK Google' (From any screen).
But the mcicrophone functions with other apps!
I would be very glad if you could fix it.
Greetings from Germany.
Yours sincerely
Armin

Havent hit these two problems i my testing... Hmmmm this is interesting to see :)

I will do some more testing and see if I can generate the issue on my tablet, I wonder if the reason why I am not getting it is because I have butchered it with so many dirty flashes LOL.

Cheers,

David.

I installed the last version and I find that the volume sound is low
Working on a fix for this, I am testing various things to try and get it to a level similar to stock thought I suspect we are not going to get 100% like stock we will get pretty close to it.

Once I get the right levels and settings I will pass this onto @thompatry for incorporation in the next update.

Also to the others who have reported "Ok Google" not working, I have been able to confirm this issue as well, but @thompatry appears to be already working on it anyway, so no need for me to go down that rabbit warren as well.

Keep the feedback coming guys, I am running out of things to test right now :)

Cheers,

David.

Deathly Adiutor App

Deathly Adiutor is an open-source, modified version of Kernel Adiutor made specifically for Exynos 5420 devices.

Features
Power Saving:
  • S-Pen Power Saving - Same as in Touchwiz, disables S-Pen detection if it's inserted in the slot
  • S-Pen Input Booster - Instantly increase CPU frequency when the S-Pen touches the screen
  • Touchscreen Input Booster - Instantly increase CPU frequency when you touch the screen
  • Touchkey Input Booster - Instantly increase CPU frequency when you touch the capacitive buttons
  • Touchscreen Glove Mode (Not all screens support this)

CPU Control:
  • CPU Settings reworked - Deathly adiutor back-end was cleaned up to work specifically with our CPU
  • CPU Thermal - Control all thermal throttling points for the CPU (make your device run colder... or even hotter)

GPU Control:
  • GPU Time in States - Same as CPU Time in States (Times in each frequency)
  • GPU Frequency Control (not yet supported on Nougat)
  • GPU Voltage Control (not yet supported on Nougat)
  • GPU Governor Control (not yet supported on Nougat)

Battery control:
  • Full power statistics - See current and maximum charging currents and current source of power
  • Unstable power source detection - Lowers current until the power source is stable
  • Customize charger current limits - Make your device charge faster (safe, if the charger can not supply enough current, the board will dynamically decrease the current)
  • Screen-On current limiter - Limit charging if screen is on (to avoid overheating)

Speakers:
  • Privacy mode - Disable main speaker if headphones are plugged in
  • Earpiece volume
  • Left/Right speaker volume
  • Speaker equalizer

Headphones:
  • Left/Right channel volume
  • Mono output mode
  • Headphone equalizer

App Themes:
  • Light theme - White and Red
  • Dark theme - Grey and Red

You may have noticed there's 2 versions of this app, one ad-free for donators and one with ads.
You can help us by clicking ads you're interested in for the free version, or purchasing the donator version!
We will use the money generated by this app as common money for the developers of the team. It will be used to pay for our web-hosting (we own a gerrit server and a domain name, exynos5420.com). It will also be used to buy a new device if one of ours breaks.

Translating the App
You can also help us by translating the app to your language:
1. You can start by looking at the full english language file: Link
2. Then compare it to your unfinished language file. You can find it here, under values-xx/strings.xml, xx being your language abbreviation.
3. You can then fill-in the missing strings in your language file. Here's an example of what a proper update looks like.
4. Then you can submit your translation by using our gerrit. If you don't know how to use gerrit, just PM the translation to your favorite developer and he'll get it merged!

Yes hi, since I updated to the latest nightly my wifi hasn't been working right and the lockscreen won't rotate out of landscape.
Could any of this actually be from it or is there another reason? Is there any way to fix this?
Last build that worked for me was 10/19, but I don't want to go back if theres a way to fix my problems.

Have you checked to make sure the correct region is selected in your wifi settings?

Settings>wifi>advanced>advance wifi>Wi-Fi Region Code (select your region if it is unchecked or not the correct region).

This is brilliant. Having one of the notorious devices that likes to flash the screen at me whenever I use it, I had recently been underclocking the cpu to 1.4 GHz to limit this effect with a lot of success. I was using kernel adiutor for this, but now this comes along and there's so much more to use amazing! increasing the speaker volume is awesome! omg. Thanks for the link.

Krombopolus, I had the same flickering issue. It has nothing to do with the cpu... It's a byproduct of the cpu getting hot (and this is why underclocking helped you). Note that when a high amperage charger is connected with almost full battery, you will have much less flickering...
The solution is super easy. Google the subject and you'll find several videos showing you how to open the back of your device and tighten the notorious battery connector.
Once I did that, flickering disappeared... Several months now without flickering...

I've had the back off plenty of times as probably according to the videos you mention. trying to reinforce the connection between the battery and the board, tape behind the board to bring it a bit closer to the battery connector, cleaning the connections etc. replaced the battery too, draining the capacitors etc etc. the flickering always came back. the latest remedy of underclocking seems to be working nicely and I'm not noticing a performance hit. However, I'm skeptical and totally expecting it to flicker again once I think it's gone ;) Thanks though mate.

Just a heads up... a bug that a end user discovered is the microphone does not work in some apps such as "Ok Google". Also I am looking into Hangout crashing when doing a video call. I will release a fix in the next built soon.
Hi thompatry
Thank you so much for your wonderful and hard work on this ROM.....! it's great to have the camera back.

I'm not able to get my mic working on any apps at all.

Would it be posible to have a look at pen detection at some point? I'm using 2 app that need to detect when the pen is removed and replaced, Artflow and S pen keeper, on the last ROM I was using ( cm-13.0-20160504-UNOFFICIAL-v1awifi.zip ) I was able to use a fuction in CM S Pen Add-on(Root) to detect the pen but that functionality in that app does not work on the new cm-13.0-20161130-UNOFFICIAL-v1awifi.zip build.

Thank you

For the flickering issue, and I have repaired MANY of those devices, you need to tighten the battery contacts on the connector. Microscope needed most times.
Also sometimes the connector on the mainboard got cracked solders and needs to be resoldered also.
An absolute fix is to resolder the connector on the mainboard and solder the battery connector on it. But this prevent any future easy battery replacement.
If someone wants a complete procedure in PDF with photos, I've written one for the other technicians where I work, I can provide the file on request.
I can't include as attachment. 563.5 KB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 488.3 KB..... well...

My solution was to simply add a foam pad to the rear of the connector in order to apply some continuous mild pressure to the joint.

Not a flicker in the last four months.

This may help, but the real solution is to resolder the main conenctor on the mainboard and tighten the pins of the battery connector so they make good contacts.
The ultimate solution is to solder all of this but not very smart for a furure battery replacement...
I've repaired many of those tablets, and tightening of the pins solve this most of the time...
Since this tablet is very large and the connector centered, when the frame bends this connector has a good chance to break, bad design from Samsung in my opinion.
