HOW TO RESOLVE ROM FLASH ERROR

Usually, if you are on LT28h firmware, you should not get any flash error. This is for those who are not on LT28h firmware.

Method 1:
Edit the build.prop under /system on the phone, change the below lines:
Code:
ro.build.product=LT28xx
ro.product.device=LT28xx
TO
Code:
ro.build.product=LT28h
ro.product.device=LT28h
Save the file and reboot.
Method 2:
  • Open the Rom Zip using an archiver like Winzip/7zip. (dont use windows open, open with an archiver).
  • Goto "/META-INF/com/google/android/" folder.
  • Edit the "updater-script" file, preferably using notepad++ if you are on windows.
  • Change "LT28h" in the below line to what ever your Build.prop says.
  • assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "LT28h" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "LT28h" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "aoba" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "aoba");
  • If build.prop shows "LT28i", then change as below
  • assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "LT28i" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "LT28i" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "aoba" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "aoba");
  • Save the file and close the zip. Now you are ready to flash.
  • If it still does not work, delete the line and try flashing again.

even with an unlocked BL i still havent been able to flash this or CM9. CWM fails right at the first step (moments after selecting Restore) and gives me some lines where LT28i keeps popping up. Sorry can't show error now because i didnt have the brains to take a pic twice before, and because it bootloops the device with no CWM access. anyone else see this?

The first step in the installation process checks the model number of your phone and aborts if it's not LT28h or 'aoba'. If you change the META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script file and replace LT28h with LT28i it will work. I've done this for my phone and it works fine. I submitted a bug report to FXP about this so hopefully they'll fix it in a future release. Until then, you'll just have to edit this file when installing a CM9-based ROM.

This is absolutely not the thread for discussing that. I don't mean to single you out since there are many offenders, but it's annoying when these development threads get hijacked by people whining about their locked bootloader. There's nothing the ROM developers can do about this so there's no point in constantly complaining. Next time don't get a phone with a locked bootloader if you love custom ROMs.
