With regards to the issue of the Photos app on the phone using up Google storage space, I have found that if you log into Google Photos at
https://www.google.com/photos/about/ you can set your upload preferences in the settings section. I have mine set to High quality and my storage space is not decreasing when my new photos are uploaded.
Unfortunately, this did not work for me. However, I'm not on the latest update of this ROM, so I'll update and report back when I'm on the newest version. Perhaps Argraur fixed something in between versions.
Just so I'm clear, FixxeH, your Photos app still shows the 'Original' setting, but you've updated in your Chrome browser on your phone to the 'High Quality' setting, and this setting seems to stick?
Thanks again for you input, I really appreciate it.

You can buy a pixel and stop trying to cheat them
Google knows you don't have a Pixel
No one is trying to cheat Google. Within the ROM, one can't edit the 'photo quality' setting, it is fixed to the 'original quality' setting. On an actual Pixel, this storage is unlimited. But for non-Pixel phones, that takes up Drive storage space. We're not asking Argraur to give us free unimted space from Google at the Original quality setting. We just want the setting for 'High Quality, unlimited' to be an option.
