Thank you very much for this ROM. The webinstaller is a great idea and I was hoping for a quick and simple install. Unfortunately I ran into a few problems:

- Required space for install: 5 GB
(I had less, so the webinstaller couldn't run through. Please show that requirement before starting the webinstaller.)
- Re-starting the webinstaller didn't work because the bootloader was unlocked in the first run. The webpage wouldn't react to clicking on "Next".
- Running the script manually didn't work, because it falsely complained over too old a fastboot version.

I had to remove the fastboot check from the script. Phone is running now ProtonAOSP 210805.

I love minimal systems and hope I could be of any help with describing my experiences here :)

@kdrag0n I understand you are a busy person and thankyou for your support, dedication to the Pixel 2 family. I see lots of dev clips from you with Android 12 in the wind.
Will you continue to support this ROM in Android 11 form or will you cease to support?
(I did read on a post you suggesting no A12 for the Pixel 2XL, i am assuming there will be no Proton 12 for pixel 2 either.)

ProtonAOSP [email protected]:
I couldn't make the notification led work via system settings, so tried
$ adb shell settings put system battery_led_charging 1
without success. Does that mean my led is faulty?

Hi,
After 4 years with a stock Pixel 2, I decided to make the jump to custom ROM. (The thing I usually did on day 1 on all my previous devices)

Installation was quick and more than easy. I rooted using Magisk v23 image in Fastbooted TWRP as Pixel 2 is ok for this method. Everything is working beautifully.
Everything except one thing: Google Pay Contact-less payment.

I can add cards and verify them with my banking app, but then Contact-less/NFC icon is crossed and it says "not configured".
Payment configuration menu also says that my phone does not respect security requirements.

SafetyNet pass. basicIntegrity and ctsProfile are checked. EvalType is basic.

Magisk-hide is activated and Google Pay is selected.
I installed universal fix for Google SafetyNet v2.1.1.
I also installed MagiskHide Props Config v6.1.0 and set the fingerprint to Google Pixel 2 Android 11.

Nothing works. Google Pay still says my phone does not respect security requirements.

Any help?
Thanks in advance

Chances are you have a module or a folder with the wrong permissions flash the ROM and magisk and your good to go no need to flash anything else the ROM passes saftey OOB (out of box) so if you don't pass after a fresh flashing of them then there's something broken or missing and we need more information (errors during flashing? Or the addition of something that hasn't been said E.G Riru lsposed

@Hawkeye77 the ROM has been updated since the last time we spoke if you are still wondering it is 11.6 and been stable for months no issues so far been running for about 1-2 months seems to be rock stable to me

By that do you include Google Pay?
Because in Magisk safety is passed. Yet Google Pay complains.
What modules do you have if any? Did you change any sys files like boot animation or anything in the system sections? Is avb still enabled on your phone (the warning that bootlader is unlocked) did you change any partition formats? And do you have magisk hide enabled ? Did you change the name of magisk and have it create a dummy apk name as to hide magisk from all? You need to have all google services hidden in magisk hide and hide any banking app along with CTS shim ?

Yes if you flash the version with gapps then flash magisk you should pass 100% but don't flash twrp you don't need it on device anymore you can just fastboot to it or use the web installer

I first tried with no module installed. But one thing to mention, I did not roo/install Magisk right away. I did first setup Google Pay without root then later on decided to root.
Now I have these modules : Airmusic, aurora services, de-bloater, magiskhide props config, riru-core, universal safety fix.

Did you change any sys files like boot animation or anything in the system sections?
No

Is avb still enabled on your phone (the warning that bootlader is unlocked)
Yes

did you change any partition formats?
No

And do you have magisk hide enabled ?
Yes, otherwise safetynet did not pass.

Did you change the name of magisk and have it create a dummy apk name as to hide magisk from all?
No

I only hided to Google Play Services and Google Pay.

I did exactly as you said to.

Thank you for your help.

Well if that's the case you decided to root after google services would have detected the change and seen magisk on its boot so all you would have had to do is tell me that :) less of this long route my friend but for next time just clear all google services data (pay, play store, play services, google at services) but if it is all worked out now glad I could help :)

So I understand that I have to root (flash magisk) right away before first boot at the same time as flashing the rom for Google Pay to not complain? (BTW Google Play works).

If yes, then I will swipe everything, start over and report back.

Technically yes it would but you can't connect to the internet on first boot you need to go past that part on setup turn on magisk hide and then connect to the internet and finish setup

Edit make sure to download the latest zip if your gonna go the self flashing run but most of the time you just need to clear google pay google play services google play store and your good to go but you need to use magisk hide and hide magisk from all root detecting apps and that's almost all preinstalled google stuff maps play store play services google at and more CTS shim must also be hidden and any banking app you use

Sorry, but I'm not sure to understand.

What are THE steps to follow to make sure Google Pay is working with this ROM while rooted? That will be easier because I'm getting confused now.

In my current setup I did clear data and cache for Google Pay multiple times. That did not solve the problem.

My banking app does not need that magisk be hidden to it.

Thanks

Hide magisk from ALL GOOGLE APPS and any banking app and then clear and reboot your good to go just open google pay and set up if it says NFC not set up or compatible then you missed a google app and need to try again

Trust me the banking app will trigger the flag for google pay one app detects the data then reports back to play services and flags are tripped in play services that cause pay to fail

Oh well, it works!
Well, it looks like it works from Google Pay. I think I will go at any shop right now just to test it.

Thanks a lot @XS37 !

    Installation
This ROM is currently distributed as factory images, similar to stock. Flash it the same way you would flash stock factory images. Don't forget to wipe all data using "fastboot -w" before booting the ROM.

Firmware is included, so there is no specific requirement for which version of the stock ROM you are coming from.

You can also use the quick & easy web installer, which allows you to install and update the ROM from any computer or phone without using the command line. The installer works entirely within your web browser and completes in as little as 4 minutes, depending on the speed of your internet connection. Consider using the web installer instead of installing manually.
