[ROM][Pixel 2 XL][13.0] PixelDust Android 13 for taimen [04 Feb 2023]

Quick question -- In the Settings under "Theme" there's an option to back up the current theme and also an option to restore it.

I plan on doing a complete system wipe and flashing the latest ROM/security patch release which will obviously reset everything back to default.

However I don't want to go through the entire process of re-setting my device up to how it currently is if I don't have to.

Where can I find the backup theme configurations? I created a backup of the current theme, named it something very specific and tried using X-Plore (with wildcards) and still can't find them. Any help?

The backup files are saved under the app data of Themes.apk. Unfortunately, there is no convenient way to extract them. But you could try with a tool such as Titanium Backup to see if you can use it to restore the saved themes.

I attempted but failed, couldn't get my P2XL to boot the factory image so I went back to ProtonAOSP for now and going to take another crack at it soon. In my Nexus 6P days I was much more familiar with flashing and troubleshooting, but after a few years off it's a new learning curve to climb. There are a couple of links on here that I have bookmarked to see if they'll help. Will touch base when I'm trying again.

Can you list the steps you took prior to installing? Did you install factory image from your PC or the web based installer?

I am pretty sure the step I messed up with was not removing PIN/fingerprint because when I flashed stock and booted TWRP the SD card contents appears scrambled/encrypted. I read on another thread about disabling that, but only after I already started the process. I am going to reattempt my steps without the security enabled, but will update this post later this evening with the steps I followed.

Just wondering do I really need to update my boot loader to install this? I'll be switching from LineageOS latest update. Also is the lockscreen album art the same as the lock screen art in the older android versions

I am up and running. I used the All in One Tool that is in another thread to flash back to stock, and the rest of the install I was able to complete smoothly. Great ROM, thanks to Devs.

Safety net passes out of the box for me. Same is the case with Gpay.

Why do you need magisk?

SafetyNet passed well for me too but failed after latest magisk update.
Magisk is essential to have #root, or..,?

Use the 23001 version of Magisk. Still passes Safety Net if you use Magisk Hide.

I've seen post saying it does work with zygisk. I haven't been able to get it to work. If 23001 works why change anything?

new version of magisk pop up for update but after that fully working rom became useless partially
roll back of magisk (to 23001) did not solve all issues at all thus I am waiting for next version to make clean install
...cause '..new version is always better version..'

I'm just curious and will never ask for ETA, Ever. Will pixedust be updated to android 12? I see proton is working, but I prefer Nittins touch and the way his roms always work perfect for me. As I said , just curious. TIA. Casey

Yes, PixelDust Twelve is already brought up for blueline and crosshatch. I'll bring it up for taimen too although it would take some time (probably by end of this month we should have first build).

This would answer @ladaluk 's post as well.
