I moved to Calyx for a while, since it became my backup/play/experiment phone in November. I mostly wanted to see how micrg improved since I last used it on my Moto X.
Unfortunately, they dropped Pixel 2XL . They didn't see much movement on A12 and pointed out the 4.x kernel is no longer supported with the arrival of A12.
I found I was able to configure my phone to have everything I need without having Google on the phone, and I could use API calls to get my Google Calendar and Contacts. The last thing I have to retire to really make a permanent move is getting my Google Voice number over to JMP.Chat.
This is a long intro to my suggestion that you consider separating GAPPS and offering a MicroG option. It will extend the life of the hardware by needing fewer resources to "keep up" and be an easy option for us privacy freaks out there.
