Good day to you. I'm trying to figure out if an issue I'm experiencing is this ROM, my mobile carrier, or my phone. The issue is I'm getting random voicemail notifications whether I have voicemail or not. I'm not getting voicemail notifications when I do have voicemail. FWIW I flashed the complete stock ROM from Google before PD. The phone is new to me and I didn't use stock ROM long enough to know if the issue existed in that one. I know, not very scientific. Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions?

9/19 The final result: It was the mobile service and they seem to have finally fixed whatever was the issue. Woot.

Just thought I'd note I was having mic problems which I thought was hardware related (I've been into my phone more than once to replace battery and usb port) but the last update (07-06-2022 build SKQ1.220603.001) has seemingly fixed it. I'm over the moon! Thought I was going to have to spring for a new Pixel but didn't really want to.

The issue I was having was a delay in the mic working when making or receiving calls and poor quality when it did start working.

hi, thanks for this rom. It worked perfectly for many month. A few month ago my phone began constantly taking screenshots. It vibrates shortly and sometimes takes a screenshot and I am presented with the screenshot sharing interface. This happens multiple times per minute and sometimes every few seconds.
I first tried a factory reset while staying on this rom but I got this behaviour already on the first screen of the setup procedure.
I then tried linageOS for Pixel3 and got the same problem. At this point I was conviced that it might be a hardware Issue. Maybe a hung button or glitch in the digitizer. I then Flashed the stock rom and relocked my bootloader. To my surprise the problem went away. I used the stock rom for some weeks and there was not one incident.
Unfortunately the stock rom does not get any updates any more. Therefore today I flashed this rom again and Immediately ran into the problem.

Has anyone seen this problem and has a solution to it?

Kind Regards
Clemens

Hey, I've been facing a similar issue to that, mine is actually the Volume Down button that is constantly pressed out of the blue, and it keeps happening.
Even if I turn on the volume, the same instant it goes down. I checked if the case is pressing the button, but even after removing the case, it happened. I tried doing a normal reboot and it went into the bootloader even though I didn't press the volume button.
Somehow it went away on its own after I was able to boot it again, but I've experienced this thing twice now.
Also, I was on stock firmware with bootloader locked, all OG Pixel 3 software from Google with the latest updates.

Another issue that I'm facing frequently on the stock is the device randomly rebooting, I've seen it do that when I play games, but there are other instances where it happened in a normal app, and also when my phone is in my pocket.
Many times, when I pull out the phone it asks me to enter the passcode stating that it is required after a reboot, which I didn't do.
The screen randomly goes black or gets stuck on a particular screen and boom, restart.

Being frustrated, now I'm switching over to custom ROMs. I've started with LineageOS but evaluating PixelDust too for usage.

For me disabling active edges fixed the problem.

Hi all,

I've been having a problem where the phone keeps loosing mobile service for about a week. Symptoms are the signal indicator drops to zero with the ! showing and switching off the radio by toggling airplane mode does not resolve it. I reset network settings and it seemed to do the trick for a few days but today it dropped out for hours and I couldn't resolve it. I've just restored the phone to stock to see if the issue continues and so far (60 minutes) it is working okay.

I've been running this ROM for months without this issue and really like it. Anyone else had this issue?

I am having a similar problem, my signal randomly drops and goes back to normal after few seconds. This happens not quite often though. I am using a japanese AU pixel 3 variant

I've been using this rom for a few months too and it has recently started having this issue. However, for me its almost daily. I've found that 1 out of 5 times restarting the phone resolves the issue.

Going to try restoring to stock but pretty busy atm..

Hello, I wanted to continue using this mobile, even with the two major problems that I currently have:
- The battery, with almost normal use (reading some mail, news, some music)... an hour or a little more on the screen, I have to charge it twice a day.
- And then the problem of the calls, that as soon as you call it goes to 3G or H+, and the quality is not very good.

As it is the main mobile, I wanted to know if the rom is stable for daily use, and if there is any problem with the applications of the banks (I will not root it)

I have seen in other XDA forums, for example in the OnePlus 5T (which is the other mobile I am using), that there is already a rom with Android 13. Will this rom continue to evolve?

I am planning to release a beta version of this ROM for Android 13. But right now it's too early to predict any concrete date or ETA.

Hello all, I just installed this rom and love the experience. However I have 2 issues that I can't seem to find a solution for:

1- My speakers and mic are not working. I have no sound from music, phone calls, videos, notifications.... anything. And if I try to record something on the recorder app it just crashes.
2- If I lock my bootloader, the phone doesn't boot. It says no OS is detected.

Really would appreciate some help.

Thanks,

Was able to fix the volume issue, i simply reflashed the original google rom and tried again... but still have the problem with the bootloader. Can I lock it or do I need to keep it unlocked to run customs roms?

You can't relock your bootloader while using a custom ROM

I went back to stock as this is my only phone. Working fine on stock image. I'd like to come back this ROM though.

I love all the features with this rom, but I'm finding a few issues with it. Battery life seems to have dropped quite a bit from the pixel experience rom I was using previously and a lot of apps have been randomly crashing, gboard, Snapchat, Spotify and YouTube. Gboard will randomly close whilst typing and taking a few seconds to come back.

Have you clean or dirty flashed? In case of app crashes a logcat would be very interesting.

PixelDust ROM is an Android 12 ROM inspired by the original Google Pixel firmware with full support for Material Design 3.

PixelDust CAF is based on the Code Aurora Sources, more commonly known as CAF. CAF ROMs are therefore generally considered to be more optimized for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SoCs than AOSP ROMs (in performance, RAM management, battery, etc.).

Of course, we're adding a decent selection of the coolest custom ROM functions that would have been missing if they weren't included.

The PixelDust crew would be very happy if you took a little time to leave your valuable feedback, your honest opinion or just say hello.

Special shoutouts to Roger.T for his amazingly designed wallpapers, logos and the best bootanimation I ever had on my Pixel!!! If you like our work, please consider to buy Roger the first beer, and a few cups of coffee for spezi77. Cheers!

    Help us help you!

If you find a bug in one of our builds, please report it here or in our Telegram Group. You MUST include the following when posting a bug report:
    1. A logcat or last_kmsg
    2. Kernel and mods used
    3. Useful information (which build, steps for reproduction, screenshots, etc.)

If you fail to report something adequately, DO NOT expect things to be fixed.

    Disclaimer:
If your device fails to comply with your standards of what you consider functioning, I am not liable. This is provided free of charge and does not come with a warranty. Although, if you provide a log, I can provide some sort of assurance that I will look into your issue.

    Installation%20guide.png

    Pre-requisites:
    * You are familiar with helping yourself out of awkward situations. You won't defame or complain at the developer of this ROM for your misfortunes.
    * You are familiar with using fastboot
    * Before you are ready to flash this custom ROM, you have to install the latest factory image from October 2021
    * Bootloader unlocked
    * You have created a backup of your ROM & data

First time installing PixelDust ROM, or coming from another ROM:

YOU MUST HAVE RECENT FACTORY IMAGE FLASHED TO BOTH SLOTS BEFORE YOUR FIRST TIME INSTALLING ROM.

    1. Flashing stock ROM / unlock bootloader (If applicable):
    1. Follow these instructions: https://developers.google.com/android/images#blueline
    2. Boot the stock ROM.
    3. Don't setup any google account, don't add a screen lock. Just go to Settings > System > Developer options. Enable OEM unlocking.
    4. You need to follow this guide to unlock your bootloader.
    2. There are now two options for the installation. Either via TWRP (you are required to remove the screen lock) or via Sideload (for advanced users).

    A. Flashing PixelDust ROM via TWRP:

    1. Important: Before you begin, remove the screen lock (password/PIN/pattern) or change to "Swipe". Go to Settings > Security >Screen lock.
    2. Download the ROM and both TWRP files (img + zip) (for download links see above).
    3. Boot fastboot mode.
    4. Connect the phone to the Computer with USB cord.
    5. Copy twrp-3.6.0_11-0-blueline.img to the platform-tools folder or folder that has fastboot in it and rename it twrp.img.
    6. Open a Command Prompt.
    7. At the Command Prompt type and press enter.
      Code:
       fastboot boot twrp.img
    8. If requested, swipe to allow modifications.
    9. Tap "Wipe", then tap "Format data" and type yes to continue.
    10. Copy the rom zip and twrp-installer-3.6.0_11-0-blueline.zip to your device.
    11. Tap "Install", select the rom zip, tap "Add more Zips", select the twrp-installer.zip and Swipe Slider to install.
    12. When install is successful tap on "Reboot", then tap on the first list item "System".

    B. Flashing PixelDust ROM via sideload:

    1. Download the ROM and boot image (for download links see above)
    2. Boot fastboot mode
    3. Connect the phone to the Computer with USB cord.
    4. Flash the boot image (this allows stock recovery to flash unsigned rom zip)
      Code:
      fastboot flash boot boot_caf_xxx.img
    5. Wipe userdata (required for first PixelDust/Android 12 install)
      Code:
      fastboot erase userdata
    6. Reboot into fastbootd
      Code:
      fastboot reboot fastboot
    7. Use volume keys and power button to select "Enter Recovery"
    8. Select "Apply Update from ADB"
    9. Sideload the ROM zip
      Code:
      adb sideload PixelDust-SaltedCaramel-caf-blueline-user-20220107-0024.zip
    10. Reboot

Dirty flashing PixelDust ROM (coming from Android 12):
Just skip the step "Format data" / "Wipe userdata"
