Safety net check will pass when your device is unrooted . If you have installed Magisk, you'll have to use Magisk Hide and Pixel Props to have it passing.
Thanks for the ROM and everything, but the instructions are incomplete. Could you please fix them?

Your instructions not only imply that these steps are necessary, they also imply the rom comes rooted out of the box. This is misleading, albeit I'm pretty sure it was unintentional. The documentation should be clearer and include a how to root section.

I haven't rooted in a couple years. That was back on Android 11 or 10. Things are different. Magisk is different. There isn't a magisk hide anymore. I got it working using zygsk + denylist + universal safetynet fix mod.

Instructions say to flash boot partition which doesn't even exist. You have to flash boot_a and boot_b.

You see, it passed SafetyNet before I rooted it, but I would have expected that to happen without a mod. You didn't need a mod to pass safetynet on unrooted phones before. So this implied the phone came already rooted to me. You just need clearer language so that people don't make this assumption.

I'm guessing this is because of something google did in Android 12. It's hard for someone to who hasn't rooted since Android 10 to catch up.

You say to flash the ROM immediately after formatting data. This is impossible. This deletes the ROM file from your phone. It won't mount correctly from TWRP with an uninitialized filesystem. You don't say if using ADB sideload is ok. So I had to boot it up after formatting, and get it to the point I could transfer the rom over. It took me a few tries, and couldn't format data again.

In the end, the ROM is all set now. Thank you. But the instructions could be better.

@spezi77 any chance we could get the boot image for the

SQ3A.220705.003
PixelDust-Snowcone-aosp-blueline-RELEASE

build that was made available via updater on July 13? The OP only has links to the June build and I'd like to patch with Magisk. Unless there's a better way to get root?

Thanks!

EDIT: never mind, looks it follows a pattern and the URL should be

"Caution:
Coming from any previous build or other ROM requires a clean flash."

Why this footnote on the August build?

bump, issue = it wont read the sim card for me, anyone else?
On the latest build but updated OTA. No issues with sim card but have the Google Wallet security issues. Is Google Wallet working for you with a clean flash?

Just curious, have you already tried a different sim card? I did have an issues with my Pixel 3 earlier where my sim card died and had to get a replacement.

Thank you very much for the ROM. Googles "updates" basically broke my P3.

Mediocre battery life, phone re-started whenever I used the FP scanner, plus the whole phone felt sluggish as heck. Factory reset didn't help in any way. I already started to suspect a hardware defect (probably Googles intention, slowly reducing the speed of "old" phones is a nice way to make people buy new stuff), but then I installed your ROM (+ the Kernel ofc) and... phone is running like new again. No more problems with restarts whenever FP is used, much better battery life and the overall experience is smooth.

    Installation%20guide.png

    Pre-requisites:
    * You are familiar with helping yourself out of awkward situations. You won't defame or complain at the developer of this ROM for your misfortunes.
    * You are familiar with using fastboot
    * Before you are ready to flash this custom ROM, you have to install the latest factory image from October 2021
    * Bootloader unlocked
    * You have created a backup of your ROM & data

First time installing PixelDust ROM, or coming from another ROM:

YOU MUST HAVE an Android 12 FACTORY IMAGE FLASHED TO BOTH SLOTS BEFORE YOUR FIRST TIME INSTALLING ROM.

    1. Flashing stock ROM / unlock bootloader (If applicable):
    1. Follow these instructions: https://developers.google.com/android/images#blueline
    2. Boot the stock ROM.
    3. Don't setup any google account, don't add a screen lock. Just go to Settings > System > Developer options. Enable OEM unlocking.
    4. You need to follow this guide to unlock your bootloader.
    2. There are now two options for the installation. Either via TWRP or via Sideload (for advanced users).

    A. Flashing PixelDust ROM via TWRP:

    1. Download the ROM and both TWRP files (img + zip) (for download links see above).
    2. Boot fastboot mode.
    3. Connect the phone to the Computer with USB cord.
    4. Copy twrp-3.6.2_11-0-blueline.img to the platform-tools folder or folder that has fastboot in it and rename it twrp.img.
    5. Open a Command Prompt.
    6. At the Command Prompt type and press enter.
      Code:
       fastboot boot twrp.img
    7. If requested, swipe to allow modifications.
    8. Tap "Wipe", then tap "Format data" and type yes to continue.
    9. Copy the rom zip and twrp-installer-3.6.2_11-0-blueline.zip to your device.
    10. Tap "Install", select the rom zip, tap "Add more Zips", select the twrp-installer.zip and Swipe Slider to install.
    11. When install is successful tap on "Reboot", then tap on the first list item "System".

    B. Flashing PixelDust ROM via sideload:

    1. Download the ROM and boot image (for download links see above)
    2. Boot fastboot mode
    3. Connect the phone to the Computer with USB cord.
    4. Flash the boot image (this allows stock recovery to flash unsigned rom zip)
      Code:
      fastboot flash boot boot_aosp_xxx.img
    5. Wipe userdata (required for first PixelDust/Android 13 install)
      Code:
      fastboot erase userdata
    6. Reboot into fastbootd
      Code:
      fastboot reboot fastboot
    7. Use volume keys and power button to select "Enter Recovery"
    8. Select "Apply Update from ADB"
    9. Sideload the ROM zip
      Code:
      adb sideload PixelDust-Tiramisu-aosp-blueline-user-xxx.zip
    10. Reboot

Dirty flashing PixelDust ROM (coming from a previous PixelDust A13 ROM):
Just skip the step "Format data" / "Wipe userdata"

YOU MUST HAVE RECENT FACTORY IMAGE FLASHED TO BOTH SLOTS BEFORE YOUR FIRST TIME INSTALLING ROM.
Let me first say that as a user of the PixelDust ROM, I appreciate all that you do! Love it!

With the recent $130 Pixel 3 (64GB in "Not Pink") deal from B&H, I picked up a couple to upgrade some family members, and PixelDust would never replace the latest (June 2021) stock ROM from Google. I figured out that it's because of the both slots thing that it wasn't working. Which is fine - you said it needed to be done - but nowhere did I see it written out how to do this.

So I'm writing out the commands I used. For reference, this worked on three brand new Pixel 3 (Verizon versions, but with the bootloader able to be unlocked) that shipped with the November 2018 build of Android 9.

    Code:
fastboot --slot all flash bootloader bootloader-blueline-XXXX-#.#-#######.img
    fastboot reboot bootloader

    [wait for phone to reboot]

fastboot --slot all flash radio radio-blueline-XXXX-#####-######-X-#######.img
    fastboot reboot bootloader

    [wait for phone to reboot]

    fastboot --set-active=a
    fastboot -w update image-blueline-XXXX.######.###.zip

[wait as it goes through fastbootd and eventually restarts to Android on its own]
    [reboot into the bootloader]

    fastboot --set-active=b
    fastboot -w update image-blueline-XXXX.######.###.zip

[wait as it goes through fastbootd and eventually restarts to Android on its own]
    [reboot into the bootloader]

[flash PixelDust per instructions in the OP]

Essentially, I could flash the bootloader and radio to both slots at the same time, but had to flash the system image to each slot separately.

Maybe this will help someone else!
