I don't know if this is a PixelDusk A11 specific issue or not but I thought I would start here.

I've noticed that when I reboot the phone the OS doesn't load and instead I get a notice that the OS files might be corrupt.

I get the option to 'try again' or 'Factory Reset'. After trying selecting 'Try Again' multiple (but never the same number of) times, the OS will boot appropriately.

One time I accidentally selected 'Factory Reset' but the phone did nothing, other than flash an image of the android character on its back (the 'something is missing' graphic) and then restart.

Does anyone have any thoughts/ideas/suggestions on the best next steps I should take?

Thanks,

A (no-reboot-if-I-can-help-it) Bug ;)
I am currently experiencing a similar issue, except I cannot get the OS to boot properly no matter how many times I select 'try again'. I changed the accent color back to default, and right after doing so SystemUI crashed and the screen would just flicker. I tried rebooting the phone, but the UI still flickers and automatically reboots to recovery with the message that the OS cannot be loaded and I can try to boot again or perform a factory reset. This morning I've tried dirty flashing the ROM to both slots, but I still get the flickering UI and automatic reboot into recovery.

I'm not able to reproduce your issue. Is it possible for you to take a logcat? Otherwise I cannot help you...

You should have turned on USB/ADB debugging in the development options beforehand.
I did. Development options is always the first thing I configure after flashing a new ROM.

Edit- After trying again it was able to find the device! I must've missed something the first time, it's been a rough morning... I'll have a log for you momentarily!

Edit 2- Logcat attached!

So as I updated my original post yesterday, this issue has started happening again.

I am lucky that eventually, the OS kicks in after some random number of reboots. But still a bit concerning

I've extracted my Logcat file and attached it in hopes that there is something contained therein that helps figure this out.

Thanks in advance,

A (non-restarting) Bug :geek:

I looked at your logcat. Unfortunately, there was nothing useful in it.

I would recommend you try a fresh install and then wait and see if the problem goes away.

spezi77;

Thanks for looking through it. Ugh, I hate fresh installs :(. . But it's probably better than not being able to boot one day (I guess).

I'll have to give it a try next week and report back.

Thanks again,

A (prepping a fresh install) Bug

Hello, longtime Pixeldust user, but I am currently running the Android 10 version. Just curious, I am thinking of taking the plunge on this 11 build and am wondering if there is a certain 11 factory build I should be on before hand?. I will probably need to do a few flashes to get from 10 pixeldust to this rom. I am assuming I will need to flash stock 10, then stock 11, then this rom? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

(Thanks for the great work on this custom rom! While I am still on the 10 build, I absolutely LOVE it!!!!)

Just go to the google crosshatch downloads page and grab the one for RQ2A.210505.002 and then use the zip and img provided and then magisk afterwards if you want.

Thanks so much~ Appreciate it! I'll be working on getting this going this afternoon. With how good the Android 10 build I don't foresee running into any issues. Excited to see what is in store for me on this new build :)

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to get MAC spoofing to stay persistent when jumping from router to router? I've tried apps, terminal commands, and pulling apart partition images looking for whatever controls the function. Ideally I'd like to put it as it was before MAC randomization was implemented.
--I think this thread is the key to completely disabling it: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=4972&page=1 but I don't speak fluent robot.

Hi, I'm using this ROM and it's very nice and smooth. Now I'm trying to root the device but when I load the TWRP via fastboot it hangs at loading screen. Is there anything that I can do? thank you very much

I didn't know thank you very much. Is there another way to root the phone?
Yes. Put the boot.img from this rom one your phone. Use Magisk to patch said image. Then put the patches image file you created on your computer in your Android SDK folder. Open commands prompt and the type *fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img --slot all* and hit enter. Then type fastboot reboot and hit enter.
Profit!
Happy flashing!

Thanks for keeping these phones going. I just picked up a new one from Woot since the USB port on my original is giving me fits. Been trying to cram here at work so I can go home and get up and running. In the post above (79) are the asterisks necessary for flashing the patched bootloader? Things have gotten more complicated since I flashed my current daily driver.

Hello folks, I've updated the links now to point to the latest & greatest build. You can use the boot.img from September. It will work just fine.

This is very likely the last A11 based build.. we'll now jump straight to A12...

PixelDust ROM is an Android 11 ROM especially built for the current Google Pixel devices and aimed for stability at its core with themes and customizations.

Our philosophy is to offer all the features known from the Google Pixel Factory Images paired with a useful selection of the coolest custom ROM features.

Our project is based off directly from AOSP. We attach great importance to aesthetics, themeability and personalization. For this we have integrated a great selection of space wallpapers and a special theme app (many thanks to Dirty Unicorns for their code base) in the settings of the Android OS.

The PixelDust Crew would highly appreciate if you would take a little of your time and leave your valuable feedback, your honest opinion or just say hello. If you should encounter a bug, or some kind of glitch that seems to be abnormal and you are pretty sure that it is related to the ROM (and not related to any special apps or mods you flashed on top), then please give as many details as possible.

Special shoutouts to Roger.T for his amazingly designed wallpapers, logos and the best bootanimation I ever had on my Pixel!!! If you like our work, please consider to buy Roger the first beer, and a few more for the other team members and spezi77. Cheers!

If your device fails to comply with your standards of what you consider functioning, I am not liable. This is provided free of charge and does not come with a warranty. Although, if you provide a log, I can provide some sort of assurance that I will look into your issue.
