  • Latest update was pulled till further notice.
I am pretty sure it's the play store updating to the latest version, I had to roll back to March then allow play to update but I haven't upgraded the April ROM build yet. It's within the play store update causing the issue but I don't know why yet. All apps originally opened until the store updated, then all apps went to crap along with the store FC. I even removed the play framework update, cleared data and cache, nothing solved it so I rolled back.

Yeah you're right, it's seems to be unstable now, and it's sometimes not working now. Hmm let me test a few things. It was definitely working, I thoroughly tested it but I haven't been watching it as closely as I was before the last upgrade. I'm not sure what happened yet.

It seems to work sometimes, but not all the time now, so I need to test a few triggers. That's what caused it to break in the past. I'll need to go back through my changes to see if it's something I caused with my install/configuration or if it's something broken now, I don't know yet. It definitely DID work previously, I know that for sure.
any luck tracking down the issue?

Not yet, but I also haven't had time to review anything. I work on average 12 hour days, usually more so I only do this with XDA to take the load of support off the devs. I do this because back in the cyanogen days, I used to release my own ROMs but supporting them became impossible so I moved to helping instead. I figured out why it was working then not working, I also had a 3rd party root charging app running so it seemed like it was working (smart charging), but it was really my root app.

This one works fine for me, and you can use it until it's fixed in the ROM:

  • I did a clean flash to be safe.
I backed up my entire device (just in case of issues), then dirty flashed and it worked fine this time around. I will note, the PlayStore WAS updated to the latest version by Google overnight BEFORE I upgraded.

It went like this, yesterday it crashed from the update, I reverted to the March build, restored everything (TXT/apps/data), it was then running properly with the older/original PlayStore (hamburger style) menus, then overnight it updated to the latest and greatest PlayStore from Google (so now the right side has the account/options), then once it was updated to the latest PlayStore framework (overnight into this morning), I did the dirty upgrade, this time around no issues with apps, no crashes, nor anything to note.

All is well and works as it should so its OK to dirty assuming the framework updates, but that being said, I am not 100% certain that's needed (PlayStore framework) but it is something to note (just in case anyone has issues, we can start to rule out why).

Dirty Flashed from Feb to April and everything went smoothly. Rooted right away. So far everything looks good. Thank you. We all appreciate your hard work.

I assumed based on slot A rolling back but I'm not sure what's up with B. What's the OS running on your device right now A11 (March firmware), or still 12P on slot B? Does slot A work with 11 March firmware? Switch boot slot to a to know.

I'm curious if this works and you can boot A11 on slot A (which should technically work):

    fastboot --set-active=a

If this works, you should be able to factory reset and use A11 with stock March firmware. Then install PD11 to slot A only and boot/use slot A (I mainly use slot B and leave A untouched). My slot B is usually my ROM daily driver and my slot A is left untouched in case of issues or emergency usecase, but it doesn't matter. Either slot can and does work for the booting the OS.

I still feel this has nothing to do with android 12 preview. I was on it myself when it first dropped for the pixel 4XL and didn't like it and rolled back to 11 and installed this PD11. I know it's possible from a pixel standpoint (mine is directly from Google though, not that it should matter), but I have no idea why yours doesn't work. Especially if this is truly a Google pixel and not a carrier branded version, they are meant to be factory rolled back by design so this doesn't make the least bit of sense. I'm still not sure what all that's been done to get you there, but the factory firmware most definitely should work and roll you back so somethings not right, but not being there in person nor knowing/seeing what landed you there (steps taken), makes troubleshooting that issue difficult to pinpoint but I wouldn't give up. Me personally, I would stick with it until I solved it, no way would I end up using 12P when I don't like it. I'd figure out what is going wrong and fix it. It's definitely possible but you need figure out what's going on. I still think your fastboot is outdated but that's just me.
Thank you very much for all of your help. I was able to get the ROM flashed.

Firstly, redownloaded fastboot and drivers to successfully downgrade to A11. From there for whatever reason could not get the ROM to flash. I then used the minimal ad/fastboot tool to flash the ROM. But everything is working now without issue.

      Stock/PD boot missing apps
Stock/stock boot apps available. Pretty simple until you disected it and browbeat it to death. Ridiculous analogy, my phone started up, rebooted, ran fine with stock/PD boot. If there was an issues it wouldn't of booted and ran fine for 2 weeks. You're logic is off.
Your engine requires combustion, milk wont turn it over much less last 2 weeks. What do I know, just an engineer at an oil refinery.
Why the hell one uses Stock with PD boot.img? Makes no sense for me, sorry.

thanks (as usual) for your reply....would it help if I posted my logcat ?
Honestly, I am not sure because I do not use GA, nor know what to look for. My recommendation would be to wait and see if other users report the same thing, OR if its a fluke for you (or me). It very well could be a global issue for everyone but because it works for me, I would assume it works for everyone. I wouldn't necessarily know about other user's having issues with it (so I would assume it works for everyone) and give false advise not knowingly.

My point is that I do not like giving advice or offer ideas when I cannot reproduce the issue myself. If I did give advice, it could be wrong and cause more damage than good so I tend to try and only help when I can reproduce it, OR if I know the code inside and out and how the app should function. GA isn't one of those apps I know inside and out so I am treading carefully to not give you wrong advice (that wouldn't help you if I did).
      1
      I understand :)
Its the weirdest thing, literally within an hour of writing my reply that I couldn't reproduce it, I stopped over to visit my daughter in college (real close by to my apartment). As I was waiting for her to come out, I was testing "OK Google" and "Hey google", to see which one worked now (I forget which is used nowadays), and sure enough, it did take a few seconds.

Here is the catch though, I don't know if it was a hearing thing or if its an actual GA issue or not. What I mean by this is, I don't think Google heard me over the noise the first time, and picked up the second test I did a few seconds later, OR if it was the FIRST request popping up 4 or 5 seconds later (if so what happened to the second request) or did it not hear both of them. I am going to test this some more as I cannot get it to reproduce on every attempt, but I can see what you mean (I think).

PixelDust ROM is an Android 11 ROM especially built for the current Google Pixel devices and aimed for stability at its core with themes and customizations.

Our philosophy is to offer all the features known from the Google Pixel Factory Images paired with a useful selection of the coolest custom ROM features.

Our project is based off directly from AOSP. We attach great importance to aesthetics, themeability and personalization. For this we have integrated a great selection of space wallpapers and a special theme app (many thanks to Dirty Unicorns for their code base) in the settings of the Android OS.

The PixelDust Crew would highly appreciate if you would take a little of your time and leave your valuable feedback, your honest opinion or just say hello. If you should encounter a bug, or some kind of glitch that seems to be abnormal and you are pretty sure that it is related to the ROM (and not related to any special apps or mods you flashed on top), then please give as many details as possible.

Special shoutouts to Roger.T for his amazingly designed wallpapers, logos and the best bootanimation I ever had on my Pixel!!! If you like our work, please consider to buy Roger the first beer, and a few more for the other team members and spezi77. Cheers!

      Disclaimer:
If your device fails to comply with your standards of what you consider functioning, I am not liable. This is provided free of charge and does not come with a warranty. Although, if you provide a log, I can provide some sort of assurance that I will look into your issue.

      Pre-requisites:
      * You are familiar with helping yourself out of awkward situations. You won't defame or complain at the developer of this ROM for your misfortunes.
      * You are familiar with using fastboot
      * Bootloader unlocked
      * You have created a backup of your ROM & data

First time installing PixelDust ROM, or coming from another ROM:

YOU MUST HAVE MAY FACTORY IMAGE!
      1. Flashing stock ROM: Follow these instructions: https://developers.google.com/android/images#coral
      2. Flashing PixelDust ROM:
        • Download the ROM and boot image
        • Flash the boot image (this allows stock recovery to flash unsigned rom zip since we dont have TWRP):
          Code:
          fastboot flash boot boot.img
        • Wipe userdata (required for first PixelDust/Android 11 install):
          Code:
          fastboot erase userdata
        • Reboot into fastbootd:
          Code:
          fastboot reboot fastboot
        • Use volume keys and power button to select "Enter Recovery"
        • Use Power button + volume up to enter Recovery
        • Select "Apply Update from ADB"
        • Sideload the ROM zip:
          Code:
          adb sideload PixelDust-Eleven-aosp-coral-***.zip
        • Reboot
      Dirty flashing PixelDust ROM:

Just skip the step "Wipe userdata"

I recompiled with the latest blobs and stuff and flashed it on my coral. Zero issues.
      I pushed a new build.

If you have any problems atleast try a clean flash after flashing stock before. That worked flawless for me.
