Any idea why the ROM doesn't have the same Launcher as other android 9 devices , the small pill at the bottom of the screen ? I ordered this device but was hoping to use the same experience as a pixel for example ..

I hope this ROM continues in :)))

Edit: figures it out.. using old redmi note 3:) just enabled gestures and onscreen buttons ...

Nice hopefully finger print is fixed and this phone becomes daily driver :)

It's the best small phone with a new CPU available now, Al other phones are over 150mm tall mi8se is 147 perfect :)

I'm currently on China dev and it got updated to pie , waiting bootloader unlock.

I have to go back to Oreo after to flash ?

Thanks
Yep. Go back to MIUI Oreo first (I'm using 10.2 stable). Previously I flashed this PE rom from latest China dev rom and got stuck on Mi logo.

As a heads up, I flashed from latest China dev (8.12.23) + latest Xiaomi eu (9.1.3) and everything is working except for auto brightness and AOD. In case anyone wants to try.

EDIT:

I was still on PE 2018-12-07, switched to 2019-01-11 and everything's working, even adaptive brightness and AOD.

Could you please provide the link for 20190111 ROM?

Here are all the releases: https://github.com/EnesSastim/Downloads/releases

You're interested in the arm64-aonly image. The version number is PE-A-2019-11-01.

Keep an eye on there, I think they release a new version roughly every month.
Thank you. Gonna flash it tomorrow.

Could you please confirm whether the bluetooth audio/music work or not (using bluetooth headset/speaker)? On the previous build, I can connect to my bluetooth headset, but can't listen to the music from phone. Phone call works fine tho.

Hm actually, sorry guys, since I never used it I didn't even think of it ?

Media doesn't work, calls neither? I can connect but it looks like it doesn't route the audio to the headset. Gonna test it a bit more, maybe wait before flashing if it's something you absolutely need.

I haven't flashed the 2019 build GSI. But the one which OP installed, it works fine. I've been using it for a week.

Smooth performance. Decent battery life (better than MIUI on SOT and deepsleep/idle). FP works flawlessly (note: you have to flash it from miui stable 10.2. If you come from miui 9, FP won't work). Notification LED works (but somehow it doesn't turn on when charging). Google cam works perfectly (but you can't take slowmo).

Downside:
-Double tap to wake doesn't work (I'm not using it anyway)
-Over saturated image/video from third party app (like when you take photos directly from IG, or video call from Line/WA). But gcam works fine.
-You can connect your Bluetooth headset with the phone (it can be paired) but somehow it can't play the music. Phone call from bluetooth works fine.
-As mentioned earlier, autobrightness and always on display doesn't work.

Overall I think it's usable and I'm happy with it. Still wait for the next build tho.

Edited: I've flashed the 2019 GSI ROM, and it's even better. You can hide notch from the dev options. Always on display and autobrightness works, as mentioned by guglicap. Now I'm still looking for the workaround for bluetooth audio issue.
