The stock kernel with this is just fine, but what other kernels work with this? I tried Matr1x..constant boot loops. Just thought I soot the old NS4g up before the JB OTA rolls out. Because that on the GN is sweet. I can take JB as is. Maybe a little over clocking though ;-) to the get the best out of the hardware and under clocking for battery.

I use trinity kernel

I tried the matrix kernel and had huge lagging and would just freeze my phone to a point where it was unusable.

Installed the Air kernel and this phone works great again.

Did you try wiping cache & dalvik cache? I'm on i9023 and seriously, it's the fastest, stablest and smoothest kernel I have ever tried... I'm on holidays right now and I have undervolt it (800-200 MHz, OnDemand) and it's working like a charm so, you can imagine how works when I got home and plug the charger and I set it up on 1400 MHz perfomance ;)

PS: Sorry about my awful English... :(

Have you read THIS?

FAQ

1. How do I flash this kernel?

You can flash from CWM recovery or rom manager. Make sure you wipe dalvik
cache before flashing.

2. After flashing, why does it get stuck at the google logo or get bootloops?

Make sure you are flashing the right kernel version for your rom and reflash. If
it still does it, then just let me know and I can take a look.

3. After booting up and using it, why does the kernel seem very laggy?

I would suggest you OC it or liveoc it from 1Ghz. If you liveoc it, I would raise
all voltages first by at least +15. Say if you liveoc with 105, you can go +15-
+25 across the board.

4. Why am I getting random reboots?

You probably have it oc’ed too high or your phone can’t handle the uv. If you
get random reboots, first try raising all voltages. If that doesn’t help, then
lower the clock speed.

5. What’s the difference between CFS and BFS?

This is a good thread: http://forums.miuiandroid.com/showthread.php?3520-
Difference-Between-BFS-amp-CFS

But CFS is a nice overall scheduler, with nice stability and it is good for a
multitasker.

BFS is a performance scheduler giving more performance to the currently
running app, like a game. So if you aren’t really a multitasker or if you play a lot
of games, BFS is a better choice.

BFS is sometimes a bit unstable though.

6. What are the governors?

http://www.setcpu.com/#7

7. How can I tweak the voltages?

I would recommend using SetCPU and looking at the “voltages” tab and altering from there.

8. Why is my phone not waking up once I press the power button?

You probably have your minimum frequency set too low. I would advise raising it to either 200 or 400 Mhz. If that doesn’t work, try disabling deep idle.

9. Why am I getting the “Liblights not supported” error in the BLN control app?

With v13.5, I have fixed this, so try that version and above. If it still doesn’t work, I would suggest using Nstools.

10. Why am I not getting TOP=OFF/TOP=ON stats to show with deep idle?

Flash the bluetooth framework fix located here (thanks endursa!):

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show…postcount=1843

11. Why am I getting a green screen when pressing the power button and how can I fix it?

Yes, v14.5 had two versions (color and non), but I don’t want to release it like that anymore. To fix the green screen manually, go into the voodoo control app and change
your screen v1 gamma hack to either 2.3.3 defaults or punchy. If that still doesn’t work, I would try to browse around for some nice settings and apply those.

From the web of Matr1x kernel

EDIT: Are you using BFS version? This version is more fast but much less stable than CFS!

Urko

I have the Matrix cfs 22 kernel running. I too had the boot loops the first time, but on the second attempt, it has taken flawlessly and it is fast, smooth and functional the way I remember. Here's what I did before flashing:

1. wipe data/factory reset.
2. wipe cache partition.
3. format /system, /cache, /data and /boot.
4. wipe Dalvik Cache.
5. wipe Battery Stats.
6. Flash the ROM.
7. Reboot. Once booted, Reboot again.
8. wipe cache partition.
9. wipe Dalvik Cache.
10. Flash Matrix.
11. Enjoy.

Ha-ha! I usually don't have these issues, but thanks to Math reverting to this thread and reading other peoples issues I fixed mines. I just wiped the dalv this time around. I never had to before but hey, some things play differently different times around. Glad to be back to a familiar kernel. Math was always the man. Appreciate your work a million times over and everyone else in here who helped. Its 2am here. I'll change my signature when I wake up ;-p. I find it silly it was just a simple dalv wipe to get my NS4G going. I'm not a dev, but I usually have the .zips, roms, flashing, and mods down pat. We all make mistakes. Cheers. May Jelly Bean hit us soon enough. With Project butter and Math kernels, you can't lose.

+1 for a Torch toggle.

This is my usual ROM, but I've just flashed AOKP M6 to test it out.

My usual settings are OnDemand.. min/200, max/1096 (using T11 kernel). Default voltages. I average 12-15 hours. Auto Brightness always.

It's updated because I took a look @ the framework-res.apk from the original ROM and noticed some framework edits that were made that were not in the Nexus S GSM port

Starting next update, or in a few days, I'm gunna work from the original ROM, or try to, so we get the latest stuff in the updates

Zip is attached, flash in recovery
