I would sadly agree, seems the company is even selling out as they're not making any money. the device works but is awfully boring in it's stock form. atleast running cm11/kitkat 4.4 does something but it's slower than stock rom.
lollipop/android TV would be it's saviour but it's not happening from the looks of it. mines just collecting dust. my gamestick does a better job of acting vpn/netflix machine so :/
Well you can always run Debian Linux on it. Witch opens up allot of possibilities.

Do you have a link to more information on this? How does it handle hardware acceleration for x264 1080p content? I too am basically using this system as a Kodi box (and it's my main box, and working fine, albeit could have a faster processor for the UI). I've got a Fire TV in the bedroom and it works a bit smoother, but i like the the "open" nature of the Ouya (but obviously dont' really like the dropped support (by the company and then, in turn, by the community).

This device DID start the "android TV" (before it was called android tv) revolution, at least from a hardware perspective. So it's nice we've got more (sorta main-stream) android boxes (Nexus Player, FireTV, Razer Forge TV, Nvidia Shield TV, etc.)

I am thinking about getting the 16gb version of this console which I would use primarily as a Kodi device also with some gaming on the side (I have a PS4). I have a Ouya now that I use for Kodi. So, are you saying that the Ouya is better than the Nvidia console? I have never been able to get 5.1 surround sound passthrough and that is using every setting suggested on the Ouya forums. How does the 5.1 passthrough work with the Nvidia?

i am hoping this roms like this will get an update in the future considering the ouya will never get any more updates now that the console is dead plus any future versions of Kodi will not run on a version of android lower then kitkat

Why would you need to upgrade kodi if it already works on CM11?

its not that its not working its just still too buggy and CM11 is made around a tablet and smartphone and not a game console with a controller so that is why i am looking for a rom using Android TV. as for kodi they always improve performance and stability in newer versions plus with their ad-ons they always do stop supporting older versions of kodi eventually

The console has been abandoned long before the software has. Maybe that should tell you something.

you really think i am clueless enough to not have known that? and i guess by your statement anyone trying to mod the box should give up on it too. like me a lot of people still think the OUYA is still one of the best KODI boxes out there
I think you're missing my point. XBMC works fine on the OUYA, but nobody is developing for it anymore. If you personally are developing, you're not going to get much help with it. Judging by the responses you've gotten (only me), I don't think you'll find much agreement unfortunately. It works well enough that there are no glaring holes that need future repair. So the software will be updated in the future, but leaving the OUYA behind.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see ATV get an update for the OUYA, just don't hold your breath. :p

I do love it for kodi, been hoping for Android TV on it for a while. Keep up the good work.

Como faço para instalar apks nesta versão do Android TV ???
Está versão esta funcionando bem no seu Ouya?! Entra na PlayStore e baixa o EsFileExplorer e você instalar os apks por lá depois de desativar fontes desconhecidas... ok?!
