Little feedback.
I used ModInstaller Pro to upgrade the recovery from Android 9 to 10 on my PX6 unit. Went super fine. I then used it to install Hal9k Mod v5 and again, everything went smoothly. I had an issue where the play store would crash and Chrome would crash. Play Store fixed itself, no idea how. Chrome got fixed when I paid for the OTA updates and updated to the last version (5.2.0 as of today).
One huge change is Android Auto. My unit originally had Zlink v3.5. It was awful. It was lagging like crazy (1-2s delay on Google maps when moving the map around). It was looking pretty bad, something like a 800x600 image stretched to fill the entire screen. Playing/pausing the music in Spotify would make everything freeze for 15-20s. Hal9k Mod is distributed with Zlink v4. It got rid of the lag, Spotify was working fine too. The image was still crap. Updating Hal9k Mod via the OTA got me Zlink v5 and holy crap the difference it made! It's even more responsive now, and it's finally looking very good, it's definitely using the correct screen resolution now as it displays way more information and is way more crisp.
I changed the launcher to Nova to get something clean and it's pretty good, the rom allows you to select your launcher. It does look a bit "Android" and not like an actual car OS but it'll do for now. I might try to find something that looks better.
I like all the available options that the rom has, it's very nice to have, you can truly customize the experience the way you want. Root is also a nice bonus.
If your unit works fine and you're happy, I'd say don't bother. If you like having a lot of customization options and having control over everything, installing this is a good idea. Also, if your unit is Android 11 or newer, I guess don't use this. Unless
@Hal9k_ releases an Android 11 version of the rom
