***The purpose of this thread is to discuss all of the current Oreo ROMs that are available and listed below.***

While there are plenty of discussions within the individual threads themselves (and all over the place), I thought it would be beneficial to have one 'central' on going thread. My Goal is to give users an easy way to keep track of the various 8.1 ROMs and to bring awareness to those looking for a daily driver that fits their needs.

Please keep this discussion to only Oreo ROMs, as the Android Pie 9.0 thread is located here.
Please keep the discussion clean, no bashing someone's opinion or a Dev/ROM.

- No links, unless they are your own ROM!!!

Table of Contents:

Status -> Current development status of ROM.
(TESTING, ACTIVE, ON HOLD, DISCONTINUED, UNKNOWN)

Security Patch -> Current month security patch.

About -> A brief description about the ROM based on experience, research and feedback from users.

Device Tree -> Either ASOP, CAF, Lineage

Google no longer officially supports the Nexus 6 past October 2017. Official Google factory images with upstreamed fixes aren't available to base continued development off of. Thus we have talented Developers to thank as they have generously compiled their own. Currently we have 3 main branches.

1. Camcory's AOSP device tree which is now the most widely used and is very stable.
2. Elektroschmock's Official Lineage 15.1 device tree which is constantly being updated with upstreamed commits and fixes.
3. Moepda's Dirty Unicorns AOSP device tree.

Feature Set: -> (Minimal, Moderate, Expansive)

DRM Widevine Support ( Netflix and YouTube TV Playback )
L1 = Up to 1080p+ video playback.
L3 = limited to 480p video playback.
None = playback will fail outright. (See below for work-around)

If Widevine DRM is missing from DRM Info then these services will not function. (Unless you use a old version of Netflix) Please reach out to your Dev and ask for DRM support if missing!

This is starting to become a non issue as Lineage 15.1 Official has the required commits for 1080p playback. ROMs as of June 2018+ should have this included. Again, PM your Dev if you're unsure.

SELinux Status
- Enforcing (recommended for security)
- Permissive

Custom Kernel Support:
1. ElementalX by Flar2 -> Source <- (Outdated as of July 2018)
Only works on Camcory base. Do not flash on any Lineage 15.1 based ROMs!
2. Popcorn Kernel by Athulele ->Source <- Working on both Lineage and AOSP Camcory device tree based ROMs.

DOWNLOAD -> If permitted by the developer, a direct link to the ROM download.
(AndroidFileHost, Google Drive, XDA, etc)

SUPPORT THREAD -> Thread and or posting where support for the ROM is located.
------------------------------------------------------

After trying a few ROMs out discuss some of the below topics about YOUR experience:

Stability.
Features. (Added additions from stock)
Stock feature status. ( Whats working: Bluetooth, NFC, etc)
Feel/Smoothness.
Battery life. (Screen on time, deep sleep)
Changes from previous version.
Which GAPPs your using. (See section towards the end of the OP for links)
Custom kernel support.
Bugs or issues. ( Random reboot, etc)
Current version. (last updated)
How long you have been running the ROM.

Section 2:

-> Recommended Gapps <-
---------------------------------------

Open Gapps Pico
(Only flash nano or pico packages, higher packages may remove custom ROM core features used for stability!)
GZR Gapps
(GZR Gapps modified package)
DU Gapps
(These are the ones I used prior to May 2018, they also feature the "auto face unlock" mod that works in Beltz)
Beans GAPPs
(As of 6/7/18 I am using this package: Reported as 64bit, but once downloaded contains ARM 32 bit GAPPS as well, does not include "auto face unlock". These also seem to give me the most consistent deep sleep. )

-> Before Flashing <-
---------------------------------------

1. Make sure to be on the latest TWRP recovery image.
2. Backup your current ROM.
3. Understand that clean flashing is always the best route, and understand that dirty flashing can bring performance degradation and instability.
4. Research is your best friend.

-> Flashing Instructions <-
---------------------------------------

These instructions can be used on any of the ROMs listed below.

A. Clean Flashing: (Preferred method)
1. Wipe everything except internal storage.
2. Flash ROM.
3. Flash GAPPs.
4. Flash ElementalX. (Optional but this needs to be done before Magisk)
5. Flash Magisk (Optional but recommended)
6. Flash any Magisk Modules.
7. Reboot.

B. Dirty Flashing: (Keep all your apps and data, but risk stability)
1. Wipe cache and Dalvik cache.
1a. Some ROMs require the system partition to be wiped too. (If you are stuck trying to flash in TWRP, try this)
2. Flash ROM.
3. Repeat steps from 'A' 3-7.

C. Semi-Dirty: (Either A or B works)
Option 1.
1. Make full Nandroid backup of the data and boot.
2. Wipe everything except internal
3. Flash ROM
4. Flash Gapps
5. Flash custom kernel. (optional)
6. Flash Magisk. (optional)
7. Reboot
8. Skip everything until you reach actual homescreen
9. Turn on advance reboot (if ROM provides it), then Reboot again to recovery
10. Restore DATA ONLY from last backup.
11. Reboot.

Option 2:
1. Make full Nandroid backup of the data.
2. Wipe everything except internal
3. Flash ROM.
4. Flash Gapps.
5. Flash custom kernel. (optional)
6. Flash Magisk. (optional)
7. Restore data partition.
8. Wipe cache.
11. Reboot.

---------------------------------------

For easy flashing and backing up, I recommend:
Wugfreshs Nexus Root Tool Kit.

Note: If you do not flash Magisk at first boot, you may run into a "Device not Certified" message. This is something that was just put into affect on 3/16/18, though it is not fully rolled out as of yet. Follow this XDA post to bypass this issue.

Section 3:

My ROM Experience

Updated: 6/8/18

I myself have tried AndroidX, Beltz, Cypher, DU, AquariOS, Carbon, Nitrogen, Lineage, CrDroid and AOSiP. On most of these roms I was averaging around 4-5 hours of SOT. As development has started to slow down as Android P enters it's 3rd dev preview few ROMs have swayed me away from Beltz. I previously ran Beltz as my DD from Nov 2017 - June 2018. On June 6th 2018 I moved to AOSiP as Camcory returned the the shamu scene with the June security patch and upstream fixes by Elektroschmock have been merged. AOSiP includes every option as Beltz and this latest iteration is stable as ever. Through continued kernel tweak testing I have found that the newer commits of May and June AOSP based ROM don't play as nice as before. I have updated my custom kernel tweaking section below to reflect this. Overall if you're looking for a ROM to hold you off if Beltz returns, look no further than AOSiP. Thankfully we're seeing a lot of improvement in other ROMs too, so this could very well sway me at some point too.

I always flash:

Magisk
Google Product Sans Module
CloudFlare DNS Module Auto Face Unlock All ( if missing from GAPPs)

I'm interested to hear your opinions and I'll continue to share more of mine as well!

My Custom Kernel Adjustments
(Set through EX kernel Manager)

Note: As of 6/27/18 'Test whatever 12' are my daily settings. I believe with these settings you'll see an improved usability (less waiting for the UI to respond) and better more consistent scrolling (staying at 60fps.) Unlike my previous settings these are a "less is more" approach.
This can be applied to ANY AOSP or Lineage Kernel. (But was only tested in AOSiP stock ROM). Full write up here
