Please pardon my ignorance but how is one supposed to replace the weather app with the new version? I tried replacing the apk with root explorer, naming the new one same as the old and changing permissions and the crashing continued.

Thank you all for your support !!! But ... I'm very sad to read the personal messages which I am bad ... and do bad firmware .... where nothing works .... I have decided ... I will not do flash ... hope someone It hurts me - do better firmware - good luck to all.
Come on @Malaysk We love your work. How ignorant does one have to be to MESSAGE some one that is doing work for free just to help others, and tell him his work is no good lol!!! To whoever did that: YOU SUCK!!

I think its safe to say 99%+ of people that actually READ THE INSTRUCTIONS are VERY HAPPY with your work.

I, for one, would have returned, or even would have not bought my android head unit if it wasnt for your work, sir.

By the way, if you do quit doing ROM's because of negative feedback, you are giving these assholes the satisfaction...

Thanks again for all you do!

The way I did it was to go into system and uninstall system apps and uninstall weather.
Then I used tinanium backup to restore weather app 1.0 and it worked.
Another way Its worked is by uninstalling it the same way and installing version 1.0 normally with the name of the one that I uninstalled.
Also another way that worked was that once the old one was uninstalled I just put the file in the system app folder with root explorer and set permissions to 644. then restarted the unit and it worked. I have no idea why it worked or what is different about it but so far I've gotten lucky with these steps. Haven't tried any other versions except 1.3 which didn't work for me. I think the latest was 1.4 when I was asking questions about this issue but haven't tried it yet because 1.0 keeps working.

Few oddities after flashing. I did not touch the MCU portion of this. I've got a pumpkin quad core 1080 KLD unit. I put on the corresponding ROM (Feb. Version as I heard it was most stable). It took quite a while to install. In fact the first time I reset as it was taking over 40 minutes. Second time took about 30 but it finally booted. Now I do not have bluetooth, the BT icon in drop down will never light up, the device name and pin number are also blank. This has a parrot FC6000TN BT radio and I ensured in factory settings it said parrot which it did. Also the buttons don't work. The buttons are soft buttons (not physical buttons). I have included an image of my unit to make the button situation easier to understand. I've tried a factory reset in recovery also which didn't help. I re-downloaded the rom and reinstalled. That took only minutes and I did use the 3rd option in recovery which includes "clear all" as the instructions state. I'm going to try to download the march ROM but does anyone have any input or opinions on what I may have done? All worked w/ the stock ROM. I did a query of no bluetooth but I got returns for everything w/ the word no in it so that diluted my search quite a bit.

Thanks guys

Try going back to stock rom first if you have it.

I had a few rom updates that took forever to complete and I aborted those and then installed another rom.
Actually febuary at first was the one that took a really long time and then I went to dec and then to march and back to feb. But that time feb installed in no time.
What I did first was clear everything first and then install feb from scratch and it only took 5 minutes without a hitch. Not sure what was different but it worked fine after that.

I wonder if there is something in the stock rom for that perticular soft button setup. I would have thought that those soft buttons were the same as hard buttons but just with a different interface.

Go into android settings, scroll to the bottom and look for "factory settings". Enter 126 as the password, and try changing the BT board type. Also, try changing the button option number.

I did do both of these. By button option number you are referring to touchmap or keymap options. Would there be any other option that a parrot BT radio would work on other than parrot? Do I need to reboot after each change in these areas?

One would think the buttons are just mapped like hard buttons. After the initial slow installs of the ROMS the following installs went lightning quick. I don't have the stock ROM or i'd go back just to make sure all still worked well. I did clear everything multiple times and them multiple times more. Redownloaded same ROM and reinstalled, no change. I'll try to change the system settings and then I'll try the March ROM i just downloaded. I Just need to find out if i must reboot after every time I go into system settings and make changes for BT radio and buttons.

Yes, a reboot is necessary to activate changes.
If these options fail, you may need to edit your build.prop file and modify the line:
setprop ro.bluetooth.hfp.ver 1.7

to

setprop ro.bluetooth.hfp.ver 1.5

save file and reboot. It has worked for a few users, and may work for you too.

Is a reboot required for both button reconfig as well as BT reconfig or just for HW driver changes (BT Radio change)?

Each time you make a change in here, a reboot is necessary.

But, you can make all the changes you want, hit apply, select another tab, make changes again, hit apply, etc and then reboot at the end of making changes. But important to hit apply before changing tabs.

Right. Gonna be a long night. 20 touchmap and 10 keymap options. Anyone know which would control the physical buttons? I don't want to assume.

I was under the impression that each option was a different keymapping text? There are no sub options after you select the touchmap or keymap option in the dropdown. I did email their support, I'll report back. In the meantime I tried all 7 BT radios and 7 touchmaps without luck. I'm going to try the most recent ROM (3/18) and see what happens. Failing all that maybe going back to stock ROM for now and waiting. Even if I do get BT working w/ that buildprop line change, if I don't have the buttons working this thing isn't of any use to me.

Thanks guys
Dave

Ok it's the Feb ROM. Went to March ROM and all is well, go figure.. I don't feel nearly so badly now. So now that I'm on the newest build, why do people say Feb is a much more stable build? What may I notice?

Keymap is option 1 and touchmap is option 9. I wonder if I had gotten to option 9 (Stopped at 7) I could have gotten them working in the Feb. ROM.

I thought this converted some NAND RAM into system RAM? It only shows 1024MB of RAM in About Machine area. Is that normal?

For me Feb was my favorite rom until the next one came out. It had all the new menus and options and I just liked it. Biggest thing is to just play with it and see if anything doesn't work the way you would expect it would. Sometimes its just settings and sometimes its enabling one feature or another but for the most part as is it should work.

@Malaysk:
Pity :(
You did a great work and put your lifeblood into it.
There will always be people who do not know to appreciate such a thing.

I hope you will change your opinion again and get your passion back ;)

Can someone tell me what the voice control button actually does? Clicking on it I have Call and Dial come up but I cannot press on either of them or do anything else. I can also not remove that icon. Unless it has to work in conjunction w/ an external mic (Mine has an internal as well). The internal works w/ OK google so I know it's working.

I have installed the CarLauncher_Pro and the app crashes. Could someone upload here the .apk that works on the latest ROM?

Also, I didn't find the Xposed Module app on March build. I'm pretty sure that was included in the February one.

Regards.
