Can someone tell me what the benefits are of installing this rom. instead of stock?
I already have root on it.

But are these versions of custom roms faster than most stock roms or is this equally to eachother?

I did install the MTCC 2.91 and all was good, until I tuned on my head lights, the leds in the units buttons didn't work

So. I installed the 2.85 and the lights on the head unit are still not working?

Any suggestions please?

Did you go into factory settings and make sure they were set to on ? I ve heard of that problem with previous MCUs - some the LEDs come on with the headlights, some they dont, especially with BMWs. The alternative is to have them lit whenever the HU is on, but some poeple dont like that. Personally I d rather have that and the most up to date MCU, but thats personal preference.

If you cant get the MTCC one to work, try the MTCB one before 2.85 and work backwards until you find one that works.

Yes, theres only v2.85 that I ever found, but there is MTCC KLD6 v2.91 which seems to work on most newer Klydes.

Yea, factory setting has key lights on and from memory R selected, I tried RGB and G that didn't help.

I expect you need to hard wire them to have them on whenever the HU is on?

I really need kld6-2.86 as that did work.

In my E46 the default setting was no HU led's until i turned the headlights on.
Ive changed that in the factory settings to be always on. (personal preference)

The only thing i can think of is make sure your car dash lights are not dimmed. I found if my dash lights were set to anything below half, the HU lights would not come on at all. :silly:

I've tryed to search but with name "tasker" there are a lot of apps that customize the processes but I didn't find an app to enable lock screen. Can you suggest me one?
No I cannot I m afraid, I only heard this in the original thread, I would suggest searching it and seeing if you can find a link to it.

I tried the tasker route without any success.

I raised the issue with eonon, before i got rid of their unreliable junk and got a much better Joying, their opinion was it was, and to their knowledge never has been raised as a major issue of concern to them or to the rom devs!

Their opinion was its not a big issue or risk needing adressed, but then eonon support have their heads buried up their own backsides on everything else so no suprise, or help there.

These units, all of them, absolutely should have a secure lock screen option, timed on screensaver, manually triggered, and most importantly on boot if desired. Currently one of them appear to.

Lol, Eonon and Klyde are just sellers, they do not make head units, they sell them from a variety of manufacturers, asking them for or about anything is totally useless as they know eff all, if you want info come here or 4pda.ru.

And ALL versions use the EXACT SAME RK3066 or RK3188 SoM.

Totally agree about the lockscreen issue.

Im well aware of the commonality, It didnt stop the eonon units being unstable when any power demands were on the USB, or 2 units smoking their USB chips inexplicably, or weird hardware volume control problems on one of the GA5153F units. Or 100 other problems. :)

Worst of all though is the slow, arrogant, and utterly intractable support from Eonon, where every response basically ends "its not our unit at fault" lol. Then they cheat you on the refund amount.

By contrast the Joying MTCD 10.1 unit has been 100% stable and reliable so far, well apart from a crazy gps and lag issue which appears to have been a particular launcher at fault.

Surely its not beyond some rom dev to collaborate on this to introduce the lock feature?

There are no "Eonon" units, there are no "GA5153F" units (that name is made up by Eonon), so I m afraid it useless telling us that, you need to to specify the type of head unit you had (KGL, KLD, RM GS, etc) for your experience to be useful to anyone.

The "weird hardware volume control problem" probably was just the "freewheel" box check in factory settings, it can be stopped by unchecking it.

As I said, you wont get any support from Eonon or any of the sellers cos they dont make em, dont programme em and dont know much about em.

Yeah, would deffo have thought someone would have added the feature by now, it was suggested several times in the original thread.

Without going into histrionics it was an absolute fault, that option only made it worse. Ive got some track record with these units and long experience in a lot of IT amongst other things, believe me the units were complete lemons. MTCB KLD VW specific 7" screen with hardware buttons and dials, rk3188 quad canbus interfaces to be more specific.

Anyways, Im liking the 10.1 double din MTCD unit much much more, I do 5 - 6 days a week long days driving, very useful things to have in a working vehicle, unlimited 4G data via the phone, handsfree, spotify and sygic are perfect for the job. Malaysks work finishes the units usability off in the way the manufacturers should have.
