Yes you can flash the ROM without the MCU. Just put on the sd card (gps card) the image of the ROM and simply push the power button and reset button, and after 5 seconds release reset button. Select there flash the rom and that is it.

Thanks for the info.
I was assuming that I can just flash the rom.

Hopefully someone can confirm 100%...
i can confirm that you can flash just the rom(firmware), my mcu stayed stock,
i did that! i will post a few pictures later :)

1º root it with code *#hct#root# - go to factory settings and when it ask for code(1688 - was mine) just put root code :D
2º go to playstore download nandroid backup and make a backup - i am 100% that you will never go to stock ahahaha but make one!
then flash it with pendrive or sdcard(my case was pendrive)

just put the code.... on factory settings!
*#hct#root#
like this and not the factory code!
remember is hct not htc!!! i did that the first time!
Forgot one thing...my bad
You have to be connected to internet(playstore) or having superSU apk And busybox on a pendrive or SD card
1 - type *#hct#root# factory settings
2 - download them or install them both superSU And busybox from usb\sdcard
3 - then reboot

My understanding is that there is a problem with sound with the current firmware... Should people flash the prior firmware or the problem is minor that you could just flash the current firmware ?

Hi thanks for the help. But step 1 does not work on my device!

Any more discussion about this should maybe be done here

Camera unmount?

Anyone know why car record stops randomly and says "usb camera unplugged" no it's not and when I start the app again it works. It happens randomly. I don't think this was happening on stock rom. <br />

Music Title over Bluetooth Player

Hey,

I'm currently using the original ROM for my RK3188 Radio (Pumpkin 1-din). There it is not possible to show the title while playing from bluetooth device. Also there is no possibility to use the microfone for google now ur speech recording. It can be used for calling.

1. In the custom rom, is there the possibility to show the current music title within the bluetooth player?
2. Can the microphone used for speech search and recording?

That's the only 2 things I am missing within my new radio.

best regards from germany

I didn't have any problems.. Try to search this in google and choose first one: 'google play store connection error techkhoji'

Did you install the right image file, according to screen resolution? If not, try again with the right one for your device= Screen Resolution: 800*480. As i understand your device uses chip RK3188 (mega.nz/#!1opHWSDJ!VP3mnT0frlXc-3j8c7gpZ7_w6ryeVqIDHwddALJf5v0)
And also make sure that you put the image file to the root of the sd card. (Unrar the downloaded file, copy-paste image file to the empty sd card)
And make sure that nothing else is plugged in except 'GPS memory card' where Malaysk image file is stored.(USB/Other sd card/USB Cameras/etc.)
After all this, try install again. Where reset+power button... U know what i mean ;)

If that doesn't work, im sorry then i don't know what's wrong.

I have the exact same device, under a different brand but identical otherwise. It is a KLD device and should be supported.

It is a bit tricky though because sometimes the screen doesn't open on its own during the update. It was touch and go for me, I had to reboot to recovery using software and then it appeared stuck on unit during the first boot. I had to repeatedly hold the power button over and over, it finally went to recovery where I selected reboot and it booted up fine.

The secondary LED display itself appears to be unsupported in the Malaysk rom, however and will always be stuck on INIT unless a fix is discovered.

I can only suggest you try the reset procedures over and over. Try to get to recovery, where you can try re flashing the ROM. I could never get it to auto flash on mine so had to flash from recovery.

Also, it isn't clear on the forums, but don't flash the MCU on any of these devices if you don't have to. This radio actually comes with a newer MCU than any available here. The only reason to flash an MCU would be for fixes if you're already having a problem.

Great ROM from what I have seen and tested so far!!

The Clock/weather widget from in the "Next launcher" shows the temp in F and I cant seem to change it to C.
I changed it in the Weather app, but it does not change in the widget.

Also after removing the widget and placing a new one, it stays at F. And I see no settings option at the widget itself.

Anyone know what to do?

Thank you for the information. The custom rom is running, but i dont want the INIT malfunction of the led display. Therefore i want to install the regular firmware. But my backup of the old firmware is broken. Do you have a backup of the firmware, which you can provide?
Thank you very much.

best regards
Michael

Yes huub It is a RK3188 so this rom will work.
cpu en frequentie Rk3188, cortex a9 dual core, 1.6-1.8ghz

LET OP is dus een dual core, Opstarten duurt dus 45sec tot 1 minuut! Quadcore duurt het 20 a 25 seconde

I don't have a backup, sorry. It didn't occur to me beforehand that the firmware would have had this difference from other kld devices or I would have done a backup.

Having the LED secondary display stuck on INIT all the time is quite annoying. Don't know if Malaysk can fix it without a copy of the original firmware either.
