Flah rom unsuccessfull.

This makes for one week I read some posts, including this one, for flashing new roms on my MTCB unit to be sure to do the right thing to avoid to brick my device.
Today i decided to do it!

These informations are taken from the original firmware of my device:
1024x600 / 1024MB Ram / 16G Flash
Model number: S07
S/N: 000D18A1xxxx
MCU: MTCB-KLD2-V2.77 (Aug 27 2015 09:07:47)
Android versioin 4.4.4_20082015
Kernel: 3.0.36+
Build number: rk3188-eng4.4.4 20082015 17:14:44

I downloaded both update_5_1_1_FUSE_1024X600_RK3188_04_MAL_06_09_2016_MTCB.rar and KLD2B-V2.81.zip and extract update.img and mcu.img at the root of a FAT32 fromated 8Gb microSD card.
I put the card on th GPS card location and go into recovery (POW+NAVI for me) and start the "update system/mcu image from sdcard and clear all" sequence.
The system start to flash a first time shortly (probably the MCU image), then reboot, then automaticaly start to flash a second time longer (recovery.img,boot.img,misc.img,kernel.img etc... )
Everything seems to be OK....
The device finnaly reboot with a new boot animation ("Thinking ....") and a new logo.
After that just a black screen with a menu bar (Home icon on the left, and five others icons on the right: tasks, ?x?, power, grid and back).
I can't do anything with any of the icons on this menu.
I tried to flash again but now I can't access to the recovery menu. I tried with the POW+NAVI and also with POW+RST with no results.
I tried also many others buttons with the POW and nothing good.

Is there something I made wrong? Is there new key or an other way to go in recovery?

Please help me!

This sounds like the new ROM check where the ROM checks you have an MTCC MCU or at least an MTCB v2.85 + MCU. Have you tried flashing an MTCC MCU on your device ?

Did you have all speakers connected?
I experienced the same "problem", while i had the unit for tests and configuration on the desk with only one speaker connected to the front right channel. Bluetooth audio is sent to all speakers, bluetooth phone just to the front left. No difference if 4.4, 5.1, stock or malaysk ROM. maybe some settings in the factory menu for left or rightsteering cars make a difference here as this could change the side where BT phone is monitored.
Another "feature": Regulary, voice commands from the navigation software come from left and right speakers, except if the fm tuner is playing, then they come only from the left speaker.
For this reason, i flashed the mcu and bricked my unit ;) just for nothing
Having this same issue. Phone audio over BT worked with 4.4.4 Malaysk ROM, but with 5.1 it's not working. Nothing else has changed on the phone or the HU.

Finaly it works!

My previous ROM was stock. It's the first try.

For me it's 15-20 seconds the power button only.
I tried this with no result. Long press only on the POW button power on the device after 2s without releasing.

While trying your solution, I tried also to long press other keys with no result. But one time I tried to do something with the menu bar and I success to pull it down to access the setting icon.
It was the first time that fu***ng bar came down for dozens boot cycles.
In the settings it was not possible to upgrade with "System Updates" but I tried to go back to the factory settings. This had the effect to reboot in recovery (v5).
Then I retried "update system/mcu image from sdcard and clear all" with finaly good result.

Now every thing is good. And I can access to the recovery like previously (POW+NAVI).

However I am unable to define the default navigation app persistently. Whether with the NAVI button or the NAVI application, the choice is requested every time.
Any trick to fix it?

It is fixed in the next update. For now you can use mtc-keys. But when you use mtc-keys, volume mixing between the radio and navigator or radio mute on navigator commands doesnt work.
I did clena flash latest Malaysk and no proble with Navi button settings... its solved from bugged v4
the annoiance bug I have is when i do Speed button that have play service FC

You're right, that should be fixed in the October version. Unfortunately, the 800x480 is not finished yet. I have not found any. But apinouille has 1024x600 and should be able to use.

I do not have device. Requires firmware check !!
New from 13 October 2016 to RK 3188 1024X600.
Tomorrow I will write what is new in the firmware.
Added new module for Xposed -mtc-statusbar . Do not forget to copy the folder mtc-statusbar on external_sd1 ( gps card ) It is in the archive with the firmware.
Download:
Tried it out(coming from stock), flashed fine (clean & wipe), but had really really bad performance issues (google maps was completely unusable).

I highly recommend fresh installs that you wipe about 2-3 times. I installed this ROM first, then tried going to other ROM but didn't install properly. I did a bunch of wipes and reinstalled this ROM. Working very smooth.

hi all,

i have tried to install this ROM on my HU but something goes wrong.
selected the "update from sd card and clear all" everything seems fine and the HU reboot itself but back to recovery, as instrunction, i see a lot of warning messages.
the remaining visible messages says:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_kmsg
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_kmsg
E: Failed to mount /cache /dev/block/rkhand_cache (Block device required)

after that i have tried to install back the original ROM and the 4.4.4 ROM without success having the same error

(sorry for the English)

thanks to all

Your recovery is corrupt. Search this thread for SD Firmware tool. Malaysk explains there how to build a SD card install.
make sure you either use a 4.4 ROM or one of DSA8310's 5.1 ROMS - they have a 4.4 recovery. For now, this is the only way to go.

I had the same issue and restored to DSA ROM using rockchip batch tool. I then tried to install Malaysk Rom and same issue. On top of it, my unit is now not booting if I leave sd card in GPS sd card slot. Card has iGo folder and another folder called APKS. It boots fine if I have an empty card. As soon as I add these folders, it doesn't boot.
