I keep getting all these "application Launcher ....stopped....Force Close" basically anytime I click an icon--browser, messaging, dialer, anything....its pretty annoying. I've done simply upgraded Rod's MIUMOD rom's, everytime he drops a new one I install it with rom manager. Its done this on the last 2 roms. Any fix? By the way since i'm always flashing from Rod's previous to his latest rom I never wipe or anything, I think it says its not neccessary. Also If I do wipe does that mean i'll have to restore call logs, apps, etc.... Because I love flashing a new rom and not having to restore anything because everything is still there! Thanks

Also when I delete apps it leaves blank spots on the different home screens, I have to keep switching screens and dragging icons to the screens with empty slots, is there a way that anytime you delete an app, all the apps will simply move in order rather than leave empty spaces?

And my last problem, there seems to be a delay, like if I press home it seems to take like 2 seconds before it actually goes, I'm noticing this delay when I hit all icons.

Annoying? yes. Can you simply wish to upgrade install and have everything working. I seriously doubt it. Your choice....live with all the issues, or clean install. Plus just because Rod provides an update do you seriously feel that there won't be issues? Rod is creating these ROMs basically by using base files from the MIUI developers site, then adding his own mods, theming, other utilities etc etc and you now have a ROD ROM so to speak. But again, the base files are not written by ROD. They are provided by a source for all ROM developers so to speak. And this is still Beta. Beta means you will have issues. Some not so nice and some just irritating. If upgrade installs work for you, then by all means keep on trucking. But if you start to see some serious FC all over the place you can either blow away your setup, use a nandroid and restore back to what worked. Then try your upgrade again. If you still have a messed up setup, then do the deed, and a total wipe. Basic SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) on any ROM.

Alright nandroid worked (after a couple of dalvik & cache wipes). Will try the update tomorrow, maybe with a full wipe. One should NEVER touch a running system 10 minutes before trying to go to bed... Very very very bad idea!

Except for deleting your SD card itself, you really should be wiping everything prior to a Nandroid restore.

Oh I knew that. I was basically just giving the two commands that make it work, if it's installed. Running a2sd check and a2sd reinstall is basically commands not needed if you know for sure that the ROM has it onboard already. But then again, there appears to be a lot of shall I say "newer users", not broken in on the N1 from the early days as we all remember them.
BTW...it took forever for me to finally figure out 85MB of bad block in my /data partition was my major source of grief trying to install the larger Sense based ROMs. And no bad blocks on my boot partition. Mainly /data and a few on /Cache and /System. Fianlly got HTC to replace my phone, around three months ago.

I ordered myself a Nexus One (coming from a HTC Hero) and i'm allready doing some research about root, unlocking, ROMs,... My Nexus One should arrive next week I think.

But my question now..
Is this MIUI ROM 100% stable? no bugs?...? Is this ROM faster/smoother then a 2.2 or 2.3 ROM? Any recommendations about kernel? Things that I need to know...?

On my Hero I flashed a lot of ROMs, so I kinda know what i'm doing.. (I hope so )

for daily use? Depends on who you ask. Depends on your needs. Depends on how much you like doing Nadroid backups, restores, etc etc. Sounds like you have the background. Jump in...read the initial FAQ's. For sure format your SD card to include an EXT3 Partition. You may want to invest in a good 16GB Class 6 or better MicroSD card. Should have 500-1Gb EXT3. Two recoveries work well. Amon_Rec 2.1.1 current and I use that. Or Rom Manager and Clockwork Recovery which has a Pro version also which I don't see a need for but some will say you would like it.
If you like Sense Roms...consider MicroMod's V1.6 Desire-HD on XDA. I use that a lot and I really like the Sense Roms. That version is fairly complete and you could use it on a daily basis no problems. It requires a 1Gb ext3 so I would highly advise going with a 1Gb ext if you are considering another ROM.

but i found:

1. sys fonts changed to some weird type, previous updates dont have this problem
2. after launching camera, when double tapping on the scene of the camera, it crashes


anyone getting this?

I am installing in about 15-30 min. But...my comments will be based on a totally clean wiped formatted setup, short of the files on the Fat32 SD partition itself. All other Partitions etc are wiped/formatted and hopefully I can stop the market from auto updating a slew of my apps, so comments will be based on exactly stated...clean setup, to rule out strange bugs based on individual interraction of each phone. Those here that have either read my posts, or no me already know this is my SOP for ROM installs. If there is even one minor bug on a prior ROM, then it makes sense to me to clean install, to verify if the bug was squashed based on new setup. Does this create more work for me, of cpourse. But I am currently reviewing Rod's setup, Formels setup, Moviestars setup and finall the MICU developers setup of which the latter is the only non modded install of the bunch. For those that don't know me, if you want a totally stock experience with out all the bells and whistles of third part add ons, that's where you want to be, not here. It is also a highly structured Forum, so poor manners will basically get you a quick go sit in the corner and minds your P's and Q's, but on the other hand, you will get first hand knowledge, experience etc. from those that are actually helping to develop the ROM itself with no add on's.
End of lecture. Sorry...my daughter pushed her ring finger back during a gymnastics class doing handsprings for her cheer High School team, and now the finger looks more like an over ripe banana. Bent in a curve shape, Black and blue, swollen, and a ton of pain. Was up all night with her. (15 years young...sophomore in HS and quarters finals, start tomorrow

You will love the N1. How many one year old + phones are still highly praised and prized by developers. Basically everything can be considered beta unless you want to run your stock as is non rooted plain jane but works OK phone Nothing more satisfying than having a stranger see a home screen that looks like no other, and then you get a chance to push all the great stuff your phone can do, and it's considered older technology. Anyways, gotta install this puppy now and get off my rambling. Family is stirring meaning I lose my time alone on the PC and the phone

Been using the ROM for quite sometimes. Due to space constraint, I decide to try out the A2SD+ option. Since I only have a class 4 microSD card, is there anyway I can use A2SD instead of A2SD+ for this ROM (app2ext sans the dalvik cache move).

hi rod,

my colleague who did a full wipe also has this crashing problem. this is what we do to simulate the issue:

once launched the camera, when double clicking the centre to zoom, it will crash, but if i open the zoom slide bar and manually adjust and after that double clicking is fine without crashes..

Chinese characters

Great job RoD! But .... the "values" contains Chinese characters . By incorporating the Spanish language to the default ROM drives me Chinese characters of "framework-res "I can not compile. It would be too much to get the "values" of the "framework-res" entirely in English (Spanish sinceseem to be that it is not possible )?? THANKS

My Fonts look normal. I have no crashes with tapping on camera scenes and this is using cool.iris older gallery and the newer Gallery. I am testing with the stock installed Camera. I took several shots with 5MP settings. No problems reading from either gallery or tapping on screen with picture showing. I test 720p video changing from stock setting showing high to 720p. Camcorder worked with no problems. I shot a 45 second video and a two minute video and both showed up fine as .3gp

Edit: CLEAN INSTALLED!!!!
Edit#2: Installed the MIUI camera. It lives and works side by side perfectly with the staock camera. I shoot 720P using the miui camera app, and take pix with the stock app.

this Rom is the best so far I understand its Beta so its bugging but it has the most potential Ive come from CM6.1.1 which I loved! the MOST stable ROM out there by far....but been riding the miuimod horse a few weeks and have made a change all said I've flash several v. already and can say that just about all are buggy mostly with that cam. issue TBA etc. some other minor stuff.. sum people just have bad luck maybe. Now I've flashed all since 2.3.1 to 2.5.1 and from fresh full wipes and all had the cam issue sum the TBA issue Except the 2.3.2 which worked flawlessly now the CAM is very important to me so I've reverted to the 2.3.2 and would recommend to any one who wants a stable version.. until the official Stable one is released. 2.3.2 has worked perfect with EVERYTHING since flashing it.

edit. oh I forgot the ONly bug sorry was the BoA app not working which sux cuz i use BoA but a small thing to give up for everything esle working properly... I just bookmarked BoA on the browser.

2.5.1

From my previous post of 2.5 I installed from a clean wipe as the Doc ordered and all works as it should. I haven't tested the cam out yet, whereas that was the only thing not working 100% at the time.

Now after flashing 2.5.1 over 2.5 with just clearing the cache partition and dalvik partition, it took about 2 mins to boot and when it did, there was a low space notification and force closing LP+ and would not boot up to the homescreen properly. Before rebooting, I went ahead and performed the apps2ext+ because that auto reboots after the a2sd cachesd command anyways.

Booted up in 2mins again and no low space errors and actually I have more space on the phone than before lol....

Also noticed the font is a bit bolder and clearer for my old eyes. I say a little bolder because the 100 in my circle battery overlaps it a bit, but that's ok in my book.

Ok just tested out the cam and it works!! No force closing and used 720 setting. Awesome!

Bottom line: FULL WIPE on 2.5 and then flashed over with 2.5.1 with dalvik partition and cache partition wipe, run apps2ext+ and reboot.
