For install CWM or TWRP you should have ROOT in your device and read post#1 with the instructions.
Only 2 links to your easy way and download.... It's the same file!!
I not know if this work with recovery original...but....your choose!!

I tried installing the v31 ROM for BLP L100a on post #6, but the phone just gests stuck on the BLU logo. I tires flashing with boh CWM and TWRP, but I got the same result.
Also, for some reason going back to v18 and doing a factory reset, the OTA updater no longer shows any update, it says I have the newest version.
Any ideas?

The next version after v18 is v20(JB ROM) -v22(KK ROM)-v25-v28-v31. How old is your version you should proceed exactly as described in post#7.
The preference is to have CWMv2.5 and TWRPv2.7.1:
- Wipe all - data - cache - davilk cache
- Mounts and storage - format system
Go back
- Install zip from sdcard - choose ROM.zip - select file and waiting install
The first boot is to 5~10min.
If you has something modified on your device as repartition storage (Meteos process) so this is the problem! You should go back the original repartition storage and try again.

It is possible yes. But as v2.5 is working fine with the kernel KK ROM see no problem in creating another CWM.
To make the ROOT in KK ROM there are other posts ago or [Q&A] that explain how it works. Mainly apk kingoroot.

Specify what you really want to do !? Why use SPFT to have CWM if you can have the new CWM and put it with flashfy application!!?

No your device is 4" and so your resolution is 400x800 not same with BLP L100 and your RAM only 512Mb.
Googling for MTK Droid Tool you can get root and cwm from that tool. I do that for my MTK device and it's work.
Another way is if you have stock cwm you can root your device by flashing UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94.zip download it from this link
https://download.chainfire.eu/396/supersu/ put in on root of your sdcard (not in other folder)

My phone's USB port got got damaged, no longer charges and is not recognized by the computer when connected. My wife's L100a is in the sme situation. I'll try to repair it to continue testing ROMs, and if successful I'll dedicate it to this task, as I already bought a new phone (Zenfone 2 ZE551ML).
Some other people I know with BLU phones have had the same problem with USB port, seems like a common failure. Anyone esle had this problem?

Very time the first page need VERY informations.........
Therefore, as this phone is obsolete, and users did not help anything, I plan to not waste time. If you want you can create a thread for you and then show how it is organized to someone complain instead of thanking.
I am not, but i see it that way, just an opinion and thank you.
