Only issue I have is not being able to turn off screen rotate.
depends on which screen rotate you're talking about. all can be turned off.

if its just the standard screen rotation, this can be disabled in: settings / display / auto rotate screen

if its homescreen rotation and you're on a 3rd party launcher, see my post just before this one with instructions on turning it off in ADW EX

rojoe and i discussed this via PM - however for the rest of you experiencing any screen freezes - if you're running a live wallpaper - TURN IT OFF!!! see if this helps at all and report back ... i'm noticing that it looks like most of the users seeing freezes are also using live wallpapers ...

ckisgen, just had a chance to pull over from driving, and wanted to report that I had two lockscreen freezes while on the road. I don't have time to wait and see if it corrects itself, so I just pulled the battery. I assume the LV kernel is possibly responsible and so I already had the SV kernel on my sdcard and just flashed that after the second freeze. Everything seems fine now. I will keep an eye out for anything odd.

Also, I don't use any launchers other those tied to the ROM's I flash. I'm using the one that came with RG and that's it.

SetCPU is calibrated per OP and hasn't been tinkered with at all.

Heading back on the road and will monitor 1.4 with the SV kernel and report back if necessary.

Still can't believe how freaking fast this mofo is!!!!!

OUT.

So you cant do it via the stock launcher, you need a 3rd party one?
my fault .. presumed you were on ADW since you had just asked a couple posts back about wanting to use it ... i switched back to stock launcher and am not able to turn off the homescreen rotation .. odd. this must be built into this newer 2.3.3 launcher2.

we'll look into this and see if we can't get something figured out for the next release for it...

Sorry, never run live wallpapers. However, no screen freeze since update to 1.4.

Well now that I got my post count up, I can finally start posting in here:

Over the past several days I have been experiencing the screen freezing issues http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991060.

Now 1.4 is out so I performed the Wipe last night and have installed the rom. I have now officially installed the rom 4 times, just in case something went wrong during install, although it appeared everything went smooth. I followed every single direction, including the wipe SD card, and the 5 min kernel "settling". If there is one thing I am really good at, it is following directions and I assure you I have.

Unfortunately my phone still locks up. I have uninstalled launcher pro and reverted to the stock launcher, and the problem still happens. I am not runnning any live wallpapers or anything like that. Matter of fact I simply let my programs install (28 of them), turned on wifi, set setcpu to 245~1.1, and then started turning the screen on and off. After about the 10-15 on/off, it locked up and then I grabbed the logcat file for you folks. I also want to state that I don't think the phone actually locks/freezes. Although hitting the power button to turn it off doesn't do anything, according to the logcat it is still doing stuff. My lock up was right after a screen on state (in the logcat file).

Very Important:
This only happens when I have screen animations turned on in the Cyanogenmod settings, under display. If I turn both the screen on and screen off animations off, the phone will produce what ydizzle is seeing (http://img19.imageshack.us/i/rbrue0hrl.jpg/), but you can simply power off the screen and when you turn it back on it is fixed. However if you have the screen animations on, you will see that picture, but it becomes unresponsive and you have to pull the battery.

I really hope this helps, if anything else changes I'll let you folks know.

Having screen upside down freeze again. Going to a different rom. Damn it was running so smooth too!
guys - we're working hard trying to find a solution for this but posts like these don't help us in the slightest.

if you're NOT going to post a logcat (free market app called alogcat that doesn't require ADB, etc) then at the VERY LEAST give us the basic information on your setup:

example:

[ ROM ] RG 1.4 (presumably royal ginger but which version)
[ governor ] smartass
[ freq range ] 245 - 1.1ghz
[ home launcher ] stock (or ADW, launcher pro, etc)
[ live wallpaper? ] nexus microbes (make sure to specify which one if yes)
[ apps running ] pandora, missed reminders, gtasks, etc
[ things i've tried to fix already ] reflashed ROM x3, rebooted, turned off/uninstalled ADW, etc.

everyone - gitm and i have been communicating via PM and/or email as well about this .. but FYI ... POSTS LIKE THIS ONE HE JUST MADE ARE *EXTREMELY* HELPFUL IN GETTING TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS ... THE MORE DETAILS THE BETTER!! ATTACHING A LOGCAT AND KMSG? PERFECT!!

the other thing he did that is very very useful to us is he listed everything he has already tried to do to fix it (no livewallpapers, uninstalled launcher pro, reflashed ROM 4 times, followed all directions exactly inc. SD card format, etc)

if I can continue to get posts like these from the few others of you that are experiencing this - i am more than confident that we can find a resolution soon...

thanks for hanging in there with us those of you that are seeing this...i know it's an inconvenience. it's ULTRA frustrating for me because i've not been able to replicate this issue on my phone ONCE...i've tried to mimic the setup/settings of those of you reporting such details many times ...

testing 1.4 out, so far so good, loving it. SMALL note, when a lightbulb in your pitch black room burns out it's a bad time to discover that the stock flashlight is gone...

other than that, flawless thus far.

PS I installed over 1.3 just to see how it works tonight. I've decided that when the update with the boot sound comes out I'll do the full SD wipe and all. (NO RUSH, just stating lol) Keep up the Great work!

I am using the stock launcher and I did disable it under the settings, still rotates, tried using the widget to turn rotate on/off, still rotates. Honestly though, it is not a big deal because of the speed of this ROM. It rotates almost as fast as you turn your phone.

Rom - RG 1.4
governor - N/A not using SETCPU
frep range - N/A not using SETCPU
home launcher - stock
live wallpaper - Don't use live wallpapers
apps - stock apps. The only 3rd party apps I have are Tango, astro, checkbook genius.
things i've tried to fix already - reflashed 5 times with full wipes. pull battery & rebooted.

Sorry about that ckisgen.

Within the first 15 minutes I did have the frozen upside down screen 2 times. All I did was remove the battery and reboot. I let the phone sit for over an hour, trying to let it "settle" a bit more. I have been playing with it for the past hour with no issues whatsoever.

Mac33 - thanks man. absolutely no problem ... i know once threads get to this many pages - it can be tough to come in and be familiar with every single previous post, page, etc.

this latest information was helpful, thank you.

(unfortunately, you single handedly blew a few of my theories more/less out of the water .. lol .. at least for EVERYONE's device .. but that's why it's starting to appear to me to also potentially be linked to particular devices .. maybe a hardware issue is coming into play also such as a 'lesser' cpu chip, inferior screen, etc. , i initially didn't think this was all that likely and still may not be the case but it's hard to understand when others inc. myself are currently using or have tried these setups/configurations and our phones will not lock up)

thanks again for the patience.

Everything is working for me without issue, minus one change in 1.4. Taking out torch stops the flashlight in the notification widget from functioning. Since there are about 50 apps with torch in the title I don't know which one to install to get the widget to be functional. If anyone can link me the apk that would be great. Edit: I just pulled it from 1.3, but it won't install, tried dropping it in /system/apps still doesn't work.

Rom is smooth. I did a clean install, one thing I've noticed in all of my installs is that the initial setup never seems to happen the same way. On this occasion, I signed into my google account and it immediately sent me to my home screen. I thought it odd so I figured I'd let it settle for a couple and see what happened. It automatically downloaded and installed all of the gapps and all of my market apps, without issue, so it wasn't a big deal, I just uninstalled the gapps i didn't want. But it is strange that it seems to happen like that for me. Usually I choose the gapps to install, then it dumps me to the market, where sometimes the gapps are already beginning their downloads, sometimes I have to click to install them, sometimes all of my market apps install, sometimes not. I assume the last has to do with connectivity, but the gapps part just seems strange. It's never an issue that causes problems, I always end up with the same result, it's just the disparity of how i get there that has me scratching my head. This happened on vanilla CM7 too so I don't think it has anything to do with RG, just thought I'd comment on it.

It's as smooth as ever, great work guys.

That's understandable. I'm starting to think its hardware also. Maybe the way we rooted. The newer mytouch's come with the new hboot. 86 or something like that. That could be the problem also. I come from the blackberry world so I know all phones are not created equal! I don't have any problems with other roms & its killing me because this is the one that works best when it is working & the one I want to use. I pulled 10mbps down on 4g with this rom before. I've come nevered expericenced that before. Just want to say thanks teamroyal for the gr8 roms & all that you guys do to help.

lol, ya sorry bout that. torch is one of the non AOSP cm add ons that we took out for v1.4 (in the name of speed, sleekness) .. knew there were so many free options on the market for those that wanted to install it ... didn't think about the notification panel widget ...

did you drop the torch apk into system/apps and THEN click install? if you're mounted r/w it should work ..

i'm not positive another app called torch from the market wouldn't work via the notification widget, you'd just have to try it

we'll figure something out if none of that works for you
