For the handful that is having this freezing issue we are working on it. As I am noticing it is happening also in stock RC2 so maybe I will send a message to Cyan and his team to see if they got any ideas. But in the mean time to get the best performance with no freezing which I have had. I would recommended that you shut off all animations leave setcpu at defualt just check the set on boot and then use the default launcher. I am using one of the built in themes and doing all that I have not had one single freeze.

I ran RC2 and only stumbled across the problem when I flashed faux's kernel. When I used the stock kernel RC2 came with it ran fine with all the animations etc.

I am sorry we removed torch, I really didn't think that many people used it. But I will put it back in the next release. But keep all that stuff in the back of your mind trust me 1.5 will be epic. We will also look into the Faux Kernel to see what us going on. If you guys who are having freezing issues try something for me. Can you please instead of using the smartass governor can you switch to the ondemand governor. Or even one of the other ones. Its a shot in the dark but maybe it will work. Thanks.

Update:
I decided to just try and see what happened, but in the instructions where after you do the 2 kernel settles, it says to select the first setup option and then go setup the phone. Instead of going to setup the phone, I decided to skip the google login, I did this thinking that maybe I had an app causing it. I then proceeded to power on/off and the phone crashed. So rule out any possible apps, as I can get it to do it on fresh install.

I'm attaching another set of logcat and last_kmsg, hopefully without any of my apps installed and running in the background it can help shine some light on the root cause. Let me know if I can assist any further.

Omfg this is ridiculously fast. One question though.

Is there a way to change icons in the dock on the stock launcher?

Oh and the labels on the homescreen apps, can they be removed?

After much troubleshooting.....I am inclined to believe that the freezing (at least on my phone) is coming from the stock launcher.

I flashed the cyangogen RC2 rom released on 3-7-2011 a couple days ago and didnt have a freeze for over 24 hours. that rom doesnt include the stock launcher...it has adw. I dont use that...I use launcher pro....but nevertheless....I believe it could be the stock launcher...because when i flashed RG 1.4.....frozen in 4 minutes....i reflashed RC2 and am 12 hours unfrozen...even after flashing fauxs 2.1 kernel (kudos to that awesomeness)

I hope this contribution helps someone....somewhere

Rom - cyanogen rc2 (previously RG 1.4/1.3/1.2)
governor - N/A not using SETCPU
frep range - N/A not using SETCPU
home launcher - launcher pro
live wallpaper - Don't use live wallpapers
apps - typical stuff+pwall, quick profiles pro, ringo pro
things i've tried to fix already - everything posted previously and more

good luck team royal.....you guys are amazing

p.s. - sorry for a lack of a logcat this time & I dont know how to get a last_kmsg

Honestly I don't care what flashlight app is used, I just like that it's in the notifications widget, I don't use the app drawer once my phone is set up, and I don't like having a flashlight icon on the homescreens, so it was really easy to just add it to the widget and call it a day. Not having it doesn't change how much I like the ROM, so to me it's just a small price to pay for the smiting of one's enemies. Wait no that's the stinkpalm.

make sure you've got your time zone properly set in date & time (settings) ..

i think you have to uncheck 'set time automatically' to select your time zone .. then you should be able to recheck set time automatically.

that's the first i've seen/heard of that one..

LOOKING FOR BETA TESTERS:

Requirements:

1. MUST follow me on tweeter for updates
2. MUST be able to report issues in CLEAR LOGICAL statements

3. Optional but highly sought after: EXPERIENCED FREEZE BUG from WAKE UP

I am especially looking for people with requirement 3.... Post to my Gingerbread Kernel thread if you want to sign up... I will also CHECK your post history about freeze issues you've posted to verify your claim...

DO NOT Sign up if you have experienced ZERO issues, if you do, it will NOT help anyone.

Running 1.4 for about 9 hours now. Very smooth build, great work on that part. But problem I've always had even in RC's and nightlies is that every time I reboot my phone my default ringtone and notification tone changes automatically to whatever the default one was from initial flash. I've kept everything stock, haven't themed it or anything. Kept clock speeds and governor to stock and even using stock launcher provided.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Other than that I love this build. Been using CM RC's/Nightlies, and even Ultimate Droid's Rom but this is thus far my favorite. Thanks guys and really looking forward to what else you guys can do to this thing!

Can anyone comment on this:

On Ginger, if you get new messages (email) and delete them, do they come back when you click "load new messages?"

On RC2, it does this for me. It's quite annoying that I delete them, and then when I click "load more" it loads more...but also the ones that were already deleted.
