Don't be so arrogant, if you know something I don't you can advise me instead of those words.
Arrogant? In what way? You fail to tell us steps you've included all along, fail to follow simple instructions. Yes, I know something you apparently don't: when someone tells you to hotboot a KK kernel, don't just flash it anyway! :laugh:

i didn't say that i know, and that's why i'm asking here, and what i'm saying is what i know that i did, not less and not more
if you read a little bit in my lines, you will know that i had a problem with fastboot, and when i changed the whole PC the problem solved, but another problem appeared, that i fail to flash the kernel because of this:
FAILED (status read failed (Too many links))
do you have any solution for this problem to help me, or will you continue blaming me that i don't know how to do such things you know?

it's unlock, i locked and unlocked the bootloader and tried, and the same issue
changed USB slot, installed SDK and JDK and android drivers and everything, redownloaded the kernel and also the same problem

The only option i can see is to reflash stock rom and then start the process again and flash custom rom (with a new downloaded one) again, just to see if it fixes anything that was corrupted by the previous custom rom. that's what i've always done if a rom fails & it's always worked without fail

I'm on a stock rom, rooted, recovery flashsed, and bootloader unlocked

Yes, you didn't include that information until later. I'm sure someone else might try to help, but with your attitude it won't be me.

It's not crashing since I stopped messing with the navbar; I'm not sure if modifying the button actions, or adding the menu button did it. I suspect adding the button did so I'll be trying that to see for sure.

From this rom I can't do: adb reboot recovery, or reboot into recovery from the phone's power menu. I can get into recovery by holding volume up during boot. Is this normal?

Yes, it's a CM12 problem fixed in the latest CM releases. Next build of this ROM should fix it.
you needed use custom kernel :
http://www.mediafire.com/download/99rfrly2772n2na/zombielp6.img
coppy this file zombielp6.img (downloaded above link) into folder ADB Fastboot, and press SHIFT key + click right mouse to Open command window here, run command follow step as below (power off devices, press key volume up and plugin USB Cab with PC) :
fastboot devices ->enter
fastboot flash boot zombielp6.img ->enter
now you can reboot into mode recovery with normal by power menu or power on device + volume up/down
Recommended :
-unlock bootloader
-alrready flash recovery TWRP/CMW newer

    BUGS :
    • No nav bar in landscape view
      <<WORKAROUND>> Change the lcd density to 285 and increase the font size to 115% in settings>display>... || This will give a close to stock look on 285 dpi and temporarily solve the problem till a fix is found.

    • Why Liquid Smooth?
      • Liquid Smooth offers RRO(Resource Runtime Overlay) which is a great new addition.
        On our Z Ultra forum we did not have a single rom(as of what i know) which had RRO. So here it is.
    • MultiRom Support ? || Kexec patched ??
      Yes it is

    Finally, we've struck gold here!, no dimness flicker, no audio issues, no freezes, everything seems fine...Knock on Wood...

    ONE weird thing...my Mobile Carrier label on the lockscreen says "No Service." Even thou I can make and receive calls...

    Sent from my Xperia Z Ultra using XDA Free mobile app
