Idk man, I just dirty flashed ZX2.2 on ZX2.1(ZX2 with ZX2.1 update) and it's working just fine.
I don't use ambient display, so idk.

Yes, M9, all informations in signature.
I just tested with whatsapp and doesn't work, maybe it works only with htc apps or system apps, since htc mail application shows notification badges correctly.

Problems/bugs with m9

HTC One M9 - CID_032 - S-OFF

- Conflict "Boost+" and "Boost+_CN". I solved by deleting the "Boost+_CN" folder in << system/priv-app >>. (thanks previous comments).

- Unable to customize the notification sound of some applications (Gmail, WhatsApp, telegram). When I go into the application - settings - notifications - sound returns me "android.process.media has stopped".

- In settings - Security if you set PIN as a screen lock, the "Settings" application crashes and you can no longer unlock the device screen because when I put the pin the lock screen crashes and the phone does not unlock. A system restore is necessary.

- CPU error in ondemand 1.2 ghz consumes more and the big cluster deactivated overheats the device with snapdragon 810. In interactive 1.5 ghz the device is more fluid. I solved by deleting the S.Team-Soc.sh file in the <<system/etc/>> folder. (Thanks A.B.)

This is a problem with Sense 9 on Nougat, unless this is the only rom that managed to fix it. It was a widely known bug that wasn't addressed because when base gets updated to Oreo, the whatsapp problem won't be there. I believe I recall this from the LeeDroid thread, and also some general questions in the Q&A threads.

If it's the same problem you're describing, it has to do with the little red bubble notification count on the icon on the sense home screen.

This bug it's not rom related, I don't have this bug.
Maybe you dirty flashed on another rom or your firmware is older(which is not that case).

I tried again doing it all over again. I've done all the wipe and rom flashes, restarted, updated all the apps.

I went into settings, security, when I set the PIN (5 numbers) the device remains on "scroll" and if I try to change, setting app crashes.

Try 4 numbers, I have 4 numbers and it's working just fine.

I can make an unrooted boot.img for these devices: HTC U Ultra, HTC 10, HTC 10 Life, HTC 10 Evo.
That can be installed Magisk and pass SafetyNet, but I need a tester for every device, so if you want to help pm me your device.

Now Google play keep crashing while browsing it
It opens just fine once i scroll down it crashes and ask for opening again
