The new build is up, everyone is strongly encouraged to upgrade. This is the last verision of 7.1.1 and 7.1.2 won't be released by us for a while.

The issue is that early issue snapdragon chip has a neon flaw that causes problems in boringssl. We added patches to recognize these flawed chips and to not use the neon optimizations on them. All lineage based roms had this issue. I helped them fix it upstream, so it should flow down to the other ROMs quickly.

Hi. Going to need you to be more specific here.

Getting any sound on calls?
Getting any sound on bluetooth?
Getting any sound from headphone jack?
Getting any sound from speakerphone?

Is your volume turned up all the way?
Have you upgraded to the latest version of twrp? There was a new version released in the past two months.
Did you clean flash? Dirty flash? From what ROM and version.

No sound at all, I was on stock ndc, flashed twrp 3.1.0. Than flashed this Rom with gapps. Also tried flashing c.f. auto root from an old forum I think it failed. Than flashed like a couple other roms cm14. Still no sound on any Rom. Can't flash back to stock in Odin getting pit file error and slb2 error in Odin and in download mode.

Wiped everything clean flash.

Tried flashing ndc nd8 pj2 in Odin all fail

You're on the triband S3. This is not for triband. Neither is ndc, or nd8. You have to Odin nf4 or oa3 or another triband .tar file.
I don't see how you were on ndc if you have sph-L710t?

Please do not use chainfire supersu. You can flash the lineage root linked in the OP.

I'm on sph-L710T OH1 firmware how would I flash this working?
There are 2 different boost s3's, the regular (the same as the Sprint one you said you used to have) and the triband (the one you have now). Most of these ROMs will not work on the triband. Octos had a ROM for the triband on lollipop (triband is referred to as d2 refresh).
Some have said normal S3 ROMs will work if you also use the modem-firmware fix .zip. You can find it here in the forums, no guarantees it will work. I don't have the triband and have never tried.
here is the modem-firmware fix. Sniffed it out for ya.

Oh, looks like the link may be dead. Maybe someone has a copy somewhere.

Good catch, it's the dreaded refresh.

Yes, I have had reports of d2spr working on d2refreshspr if you flash d2spr TWRP then flash the ROM.

Kernel?

I have two questions.
1) what is there to be gained by installing a kernel? What kernels are compatible with this rom.
2) I have searched but have yet to find how to get rid of my stuck voice mail notification. (boost mobile) The sprint vvm does not show a voicemail. and when I call the voicemail it says no messages.

1) Instability. Don't like how stable octos is? Try a new kernel! For bonus points, report the bugs that occur without telling me you are running a custom kernel. ;)
2) Go into phone app. There are four tabs near the top. One has a tape reel-to-reel icon. Click it and delete your messages.

Ok cool Ill pass on the kernel. Oct os is very good. Im very happy with it. Thank you.

I only have 3 tabs in the phone app star (favorites), clock (call log) and people (contacts). Am I possibly looking in the wrong place or using a different phone app? Something boost imposes or an app that loads from google when I restore the apps?

I think you have to turn on visual voicemail, but I don't remember how to turn on visual voicemail at the moment. I'll take a fresh look in the morning.

how long does it take on first boot? i guess mine was stuck any solution for this?
It takes an excruciatingly long time for first boot. There was a change in how the apps are pre-processed by the system. It will be worse if you have a lot of apps installed. ROM + gapps only can easily take 15 minutes.
