Aargh... random reboot and then after power on - reboot and stucked on splash image.

Wipe cache + dalvik -> same situation.
Install Kernel again (Faux 8b8) -> same situation
Install Viper 1.1.0 again (w/o wipe) -> Booting, optimizing applications, reboot and stucked...
Damn!!!
I've got the same problem here :( Are you using MyBackupPro? I think that's the problem, but I'm not sure. Now I've removed the schedules I haven't got those reboots anymore.

This is what I did when I got stucked;

- Boot in recovery
- Make a nandroid
- Resets to factory (wipe data/factory reset) through recovery
- Wipe cache + dalvik
- Restore nandroid
- Reboot

Thanks heaps, reading all that (apart from the driver) looks to be part way through what I was going to try last night, before I got too tired!! I've already got an image recovery in with the abd and bootloader etc on my C drive. Coffee first, then time to get this thing sorted !!!

Thank you.

---------- Post added at 09:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:30 AM ----------

I suggest using 4ext... I've attached a recovery image along with adb and fastboot.

Reboot the phone into bootloader.
Select Fastboot.

Download the driver from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1191676&d=1342028421
Extract it somewhere.
Open Device Manager. (Press Windows Key + R and type mmc devmgmt.msc)
Select Android Phone and right click Update Driver Software.
Click " Browse my computer for driver software " and point it to where you've extracted the driver.
Accept any pop up about the driver.

Assuming you haven't got adb and fastboot setup, I've attached a .ZIP file.
Download the Android.zip file from the attachments.
Extract it to C:\Android\
Open a Command Prompt shell. (Windows Key + R and type cmd)
Type:
Code:
cd C:\Android\
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Reboot into recovery. Flash ROM.

You can also try
Code:
fastboot -w
fastboot update ViperS_1.1.0.zip
Just remember to place the ROM in C:\Android\
Additionally, my firmware man version is 3.32.841.15 ... so is it recommended that I go to 3.33?

Cheers.

comparisation Viper ROM

Hi, i'm following this thread for a while now. Rom looks VERY nice.
I recently rooted and S-off my Sensation and installed ARHD ROM wich works very good.
Now i'm tempted to try this ROM too because it looks so nice :good:
Are there people here who can tell me what the speed and stability of the phone on this ROM is in comparisation to ARHD?
I've got a bit of fear that my phone will look good but will feel a bit slow or so...

Thanks in advance for every reply

grtz

Did u flash FW 3.32 or 3.33 it is must.

No u don't need to b SOFF to install FW provided u read Kohr or mikes FW thread n flash the the appropriate one for Ur phone... N flash ROM through SON process...

If u don't care for warranty I recommend u to SOFF

I have firmware 3.32.841.15 ... Unlocked my phone using htcdev etc rooted it and am using 4ext now for the recovery (previsouly was clockworkmod or something) and that seems to work much better, as now when I select the full wipe on install, it actually did it. And installed everything ok. At which point I was getting pretty excited... but alas. It still sits at the splash screen on reboot!!

I've read so many threads and posts and comments now I feel like I'm going in circles.

Nothing to comparison between this Rom and ARHD in speed and stability. Only one thing: battery life not good like ARHD(but a little). After flash this Rom You must Sebastian's kernel or Faux's kernel replaces inside then everything is smoothness so far.

Yes & no. Only take backup every now and then with MyBackup (no schedules).

Anyway I managed get my phone up but lot of errors android.process.acore. Phone calls data, sms, mms all gone... ;(

Let's start all over again - ****.

Are you S-ON ?
Since you've already used HTC Dev, try to S-OFF using Juopunutbear: http://unlimited.io/juopunutbear-public-beta-0-1/instructions/ -you'll need a wire.
You also need a ROM that works and root access... so try the Smart Flash thing first.

First make sure Smart Flash is on.
Boot into recovery.
Select "Tools".
Select "Enable 4EXT Smart Flash"
Try to re-flash the current ROM with 4EXT Smart Flash enabled.

If not, try to S-OFF.

I am in s-on mode, was hoping to avoid having to do s-off as it looks more fiddly than I can be bothered with today! In the various things I did try today one of them was using the 4EXT recovery (instead of the Clockworkmod one I was using) and I did have smart flash enabled. Since doing that I reloaded a back up of this rom. At which point the wifi started working. Relieved much!
I've added my gmail account which claims to have synced... but when I go to put an email widget on my homescreen it says I dont have an account setup! :(

Oh sorry... I've crossed my threads ! :-S Yep... just one of those days today. I never did get the viper rom to boot past the splashscreen. Using s-on, and 4ext with smart flash enabled. Still wouldn't work. It was at this point I loaded a backup of a different ROM which as been the only one I could get to boot, but the wifi didn't work. However since reloaded the backup, the wifi does work.

Ah -that's good news. You've got a working ROM. Try to S-OFF using the JuopunutBear method and let us know how it goes.

Use the app 'No frills CPU Control' or 'CPU Master' for setting frequencies.

OH Hallelujah!!!!!!! I'm just running through my setup wizard now and have to say I'm super excited!! It looks HOT! Cant wait to start playing!!
Please tell me the "people" still has the ability to link "contacts" from different accounts.. phone, facebook, linkedin etc!

Thank you Dennis & everyone that gave me some helpful hints!!

PS. I didn't have to do the s-off. After re reading your comment Dennis I couldn't remember if I had enabled the boot flash prior to the last attempt. I thought that I had. (but I did it when I went back to the backup of the other rom) So before going through the s-off steps I thought I would give it one last try definitely making sure I had it enabled. And there we have it. A blonde moment that wasted a day!

Cheers guys.
