Hi I clean flashed from stock rom and it seems the XZ Extras closes and doesn't want to open. Any idea why this is? Should I really clean install by clearing internal storage?

I am new to this website and it seems difficult to navigate but anyways, my problem is I am paranoid over flashing my phone with a custom rom in fears I might brick my phone.... I have an Xperia z5 E6653 model phone and Sony won't bring out Oreo for this phone and I am quite annoyed over this because of the overrated power consumption I have to face on my phone, the 2900 mah battery that was in it depleted within 2hrs so I had to buy a new lithium ion battery with a 4750mah capacity unfortunately it only last an hr longer a big disappointment when it comes to Sony, don't get me wrong it's a good phone but it sucks a huge amount of power regardless of changing any settings! Anyway I was taking a look at one of your custom roms called slimx reborn and it seems to be what I am looking more in maximising my power usage in everyway possible, but I never reformatted a phone b4 and really paranoid in bricking it, I would like more information on flashing my phone to this custom rom in more detail if anyone can provide please, been searching the net for 2 days to see it isn't much different to reformatting a computer with the exception of being bricked!

Rooting
It seems I came to a halt with rooting my device...
It doesn't matter which app I use it fails!!
Tried kingroot, kingoroot, iroot, framaroot, universal root, Android root, one click root and a few others only to come up short.... Half them won't download due to pathetic restrictions tied to downloading and others that I did manage to download only failed and kingroot put me on the wish list....
Done being lied to by people that falsify ****ing claims that this is supposed to be free when it isn't, so in this case it has got me ****ed how any of you did it in the first place,. Unless you guys lied too..... Can't reflash without rooting!! So disappointed in everybody concerned.....

Start with this thread and follow the steps exactly as they are written. Basically your first step is to unlock your bootloader, then you can do pretty much anything.

@Enben05 why do you rely on those closed-source binary apps in the first place ?
The "main" heavy hitters for rooting are SuperSU (& superuser ?) & Magisk
Magisk rooted ROM is pretty easy to set up:
- [optional: use FlashTool and/or update to latest Nougat (7.1.1) android version to get Nougat Bootloader (this allows to boot directly to TWRP via buttons when device is off)[
- Copy over ROM, Magisk, MagiskManager, custom kernel (newer, if needed) to internal storage or microSD
- Turn device OFF
- Get into fastboot mode [volume down + connect USB (best is to have cable connected to phone, then connect to PC/Mac while connecting other end)]
- flash TWRP [fastboot flash recovery twrp.img]
- for security: fastboot reboot (after successful flash)
- Turn device OFF
- Boot into TWRP (volume down + power button, keep power button pressed for 1-2 secs after Sony logo shows up, then only keep volume down pressed)
- Install ROM (V2)
- [optional: install VOIP addon if needed]
- install newer custom kernel (if needed)
- Setup up ROM
- Turn device OFF
- Boot into TWRP
- Make separate backups of /boot , /data , /system [NOT systemimage or internal storage]
- install Magisk v14.3+ (I'm using build 1437 right now)
- [optional, recommended: install either Magisk module (temporarily) or newest version (replacing file, permanently) of EnableDozeGMS [ [MAGISK 16][Battery Saver][6.0+] ENABLE DOZE on Google Play Services ] ]
- Reboot
- Install MagiskManager (allow installation from "Unknown Sources")
- Reboot
<-- this setup includes additional steps which might not be necessary however that's pretty close to the way how I set up this installation I'm on right now and it worked.
Updating Magisk to newer versions might work or not, YMMV [your mileage may vary] (there were issues in the past so if you don't run into issues or AndroidPay, SafetyNet, etc. stick with one version)

That is hardly overheating when it's e.g. indexing on the first run data on your internal data or microSD
if it's happening more often, it's really a bit warm though
