Awesome! I've been reading up on stuff a bit and it actually seems doable. I suppose you can even use ADB and TWRP to restore the previous state of the table?...
Aahhh... Could it be this one?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...recovery-unofficial-twrp-3-1-1-0-t3635803.... .
Afaik back to stock ROM is only possible with Odin or Heimdall.

If you search more you will find TWRP 3.2.3-0 and even 3.3.1-0.
Tried both but with the first I could save EFS with the last not.

I'm sorry, but could you help me out a bit? There are ton of links to be "found" on that subject and I have no idea which ones are legit... :(

I just don't wanna make any mistakes.

What does EFS stand for?
https://www.**********.com/how-to-b...imei-on-samsung-galaxy-devices-did-you-do-it/
<EFS is a system directory that contains device specific essential information such as its IMEI, wireless device MAC address, baseband version, product code, system ID and NV data.>

Although some people say it can't be restored I like to at least save it once.

Sure, that's what we're here for. ;)
Just have to search a bit myself for I don't know where I found these TWRP versions.
If I don't find the link I will upload mine and send you a link.

Btw. mine will stay one 14.1 as long as possible for I don't want to miss the camera.

Gives you the TWRP 3.3.0. (my mistake thought it had been 3.3.1-0)
The 3.2.3 I seem to have to upload myself for it is no longer available there.

Sent you a PN with a link.

Thanks!

Great! So now I've got:

  • ADB platform-tools
  • Odin3 v3.14.1
  • Heimdall suite (but unsure if this is the right version or if I even need it...) source
  • TWRP version 3.2.3 for lt03lte with EFS

I still need to "root" my device, though, but isn't that what Odin is for?

Thanks! Hmmm...

There's one thing I'm uncertain of: It says I very explicitly I need to delete my Google account, but I'm unsure why.

The tablet is now Odin / Bootloader mode, but I haven't started the process on the computer yet, even though it says "downloading" and "do not turn off target!".

Can I still abort, though, or what should I do?

EDIT: It worked fine, even though I didn't. :)

Well that's good news.
Deleting the Google account means of course only from th0e devices you're working on.
Some devices are somehow protected if the account is still connected to the specific device.

OK, I'm almost there, got into TWRP and all and wiped the system, so ready to install.

However, for some reason, ADB lists my devices as "offline" now, so I cannot access the installation packages... :(

stuck in bootloop after battery ran out of charge. Had latest stock gapps installed. Anyways good job on making this, really appreciate it. Being stuck in bootloop is annoying, not sure if the reason is gapps as was suggested by some people, but most likely yes.

I don't think I will ever find properly working system for this aging tablet... It was nice attempt, but i think the developer should focus his undoubtedly skills on something he is willing to bring to the successful end...

In case you didn't read to the end of the thread title, this is an alpha release. The developer is maintaining different ROMs for this tablet, many of them very solid. If you're looking for something more stable, go for https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...om-unofficial-cyanogenmod-14-1-30-10-t3490761

I can assure that the Nougat from this developer is rock solid.
Right now it's on 20200318.
Seems to me you didn't test it.

Hm, I am sorry if I have hurt anyone... I have tried LineageOS 16, but I did not have 4G and some system thing kept crashing after each restart. Youtube and some other GAPS were not working at all.
I will try Lineage17 from the link provided by temporarium, and if even that won't work, will go back to 14. That's been said to be the most stable.
Will see you here later on... :)

...I have just tested 14.1 and it really works a charm! LTE, everytrhing.
If someone with more experience could point me to something solid with newer android version, I would be really happy...
Thanks a lot!
