The low audio issue could be fixed by modifying the mixer_paths.xml file. But going too far induces hardware clipping. If the Note were a phone, i would've dealt with it, but i never attached external speakers or headphones to the Note. But occasionally sound volume from YouTube clips is too low, despite volume always being maxed out.
The official Lineage and RR don't sound a bit different from stock rom on my S5 with near identical hardware, so it's not an issue of the rom itself.
If someone has working(clipping proof under various conditions) mixer_paths values, he might publish them here...

Hi lecorbusier,
Thanks for sharing your insight.
Your suggestion is a great idea.

Other than the low audio volume, I'm more than happy with this ROM.
Having updated to a new recent Stock ROM before this RR ROM installed,
I don't experience any hiccups so far as other people report.

I currently run the previous version, coming from Lineage and Stock.
Audio is mainly an issue for me during vids in Youtube and news apps, when i sometimes have to mute the tv or radio, when nothing less than total silence is required to understand something.
The main issue with all these roms, including the official ones for my S5 is, that battery drain is higher. Though not standby. That is even excellent on the Note, at least w/o SIM inserted. Something draws more power during use.

Is this on the latest version? Have you tried the previous roms?
Yes, first time with the latest RR Rom but used to use the LineageOS Rom before.
I find this Rom provides more configurable settings, from where I was able to enable all functions I wanted.
Regarding to Battery, no problem with Hibernator app - hardly any drain in screen off mode.
GPS functions excellent. This is the most I like it!

Does encryption work for you?
When I tried to encrypt the device, it bootet into encryption, showed 2 h remaining, but aborted and rebooted into RR logo, rebooted into RR logo bootloop.

Hi,

I really like the ROM also. But I'm too having problems with the magnetic lock. Is it that it's not supported or that I just need to activate it somewhere?
Hi,
The magnetic lock problem is only with the latest build !
With RR 5.8.4 it was working OK !
I assume (and hope) this will be fixed with the next RC of the ROM :)

Hi,
by the way, I've tried installing spen command, and it gets stuck when trying to verify the rooting. Any tips? In theory support stopped at Lollipop. Any news would be great.

Not one to be rude and ask for updates, but do you think we could get one last version of RR with maybe the KRACK fix merged?

Hi,
Has anybody managed to increase the maximum sound volume of our device
I have seen that this could be achieved by changing some values in the Mixer_path.xml file but I had a look into this file and could find what has to be modified ?
Is there another way to do that ??
Any help on the subject will be really appreciated as the sound is really weak !!
Thanks in advance :)

If the values set are too high, clipping will occur. Distortion just like with analog stuff, but as the amps work with PCM, also new stuff like dropouts and in case of headphones, headset disconnect events. The latter happening with a phone of mine and a custom rom. Of course you can then avoid setting volume too high during operation, which works, too.

SPen, Review and some Recommendations

is there a way to mount the s-pen functions ??
Hi,

well there is. It's a payed APP but it's totally worth it. I've been using the ROM for about a week, and can only say I find it amazing. As a small summary of my experience with it:

CONs:
- Flashing v.5.8.5 is not good. Magnetic lock is not working. So if you have a case it'll affect hugely the usability. Lucklily you can download v.5.8.4 and flash it over with absolutely no loss.
- The installed version of Magisk is not the last one. For some reason I couldn't update it directly via the App, so donwload it and flash it manually. Both Magisk and Magisk Manager.
- For the SPen functionality you will need SPen command. It costs, but it's worth it. Download the last version, beta, from: www.spencommand.com
- In order to be able to run it adequatly and install it, at least the first time, you have to change SELinux to permissive. For this, download a command runner and type:
su
setenforce 0
- In my device I had to check the rotation settings and everithing in SPen Command so everything will work well. Takes a little time.
- I didn't bother about the low YouTube volume until I started driving and Driving directions were also very low. I'd like to know how to fix it or tweak it a little beat. I read that a Magisk script could do the trick.
- This last point is personal taste, but I recommend installing Nova Launcher and Setting it so that it looks like Pixel launcher, which looks nice, but has limited functionality in customizing Folders and layout.
- I wasn't have LTE right after installing the ROM, somehow you have to go to settings and configure something in there with the carrier manually, found it in a YouTube video of an Indian guy.

Pros:
- Android N!
- Root
- Faster
- Very customizable, it's a steep learning curve though. I'm still struggling with the MultiWindow mode and the OmniSwitch App. Also I don't get very well what and how Magisk works.
- Nice Icons
- Your phone Storage and RAM will be grateful of the ROM. You can tell the difference from TouchWiz that have tons of things no one knows what they do and load your system unnecessarily.

Well I'm not a Programmer, but kind of an Android fan. And deeper than this Post I won't be able to go. I thank the developer of the Remix ROM for the nice work. Keep it up dude.

I flashed the zip then flashed gapps straight after and just get the animation boot loop. Left it for 10 minutes. Any ideas? Actually I just tried with lineage also and get the same thing, stuck on the animation so am guessing I did something wrong?

Hi,
Go to recovery and do wipe cache/dalvik this should solved the spin loop !
Edit: if coming from another ROM did you the full wipes ?
