L OS 14.1 just got another update. I don't under stand why bother with the old stuff. Both roms are equally stable on the P605. Source code development for both versions is terminated, so no surprises for the dev from that direction.
Just one issue is unique for 16.1: Upon wake up from standby instead of the currently used app(especially Firefox) or the launcher(Nova) a black screen with status bar shows. Pressing menu a second time shows the app history, from where there's app access. Or the launcher after closing history.
Recently i had not only the black screen but also a crash fest when trying to read a 7mbyte 250page pdf document with EZPDF Reader. System load was extreme, i understand that this is especially tight for the limited RAM. But i did not encounter any problems on my S5 with only 2GB of Ram and otherwise near identical hardware. There was just not as many page content to display in readable form on the the much smaller screen, the screen bitmap being not much smaller at FullHD.

Not sure I understand what your point is, but to me it's like Windows 7 vs 10. In the "old" stuff (Oreo, Nougat), you're more in control: you root, you're the boss. With Pie/10, Google is increasing and strengthening its infestation.

That's just my opinion. So I for one am VERY happy that someone keeps updating that "old" stuff with security updates.

Big Thanks to David for maintaining LOS 14.1. !
Unfortunately, I converted to LOS 16.0 last year, hoping it would be a future-proof train.

David - would you please indicate what your plans are regard SM-P605?
Is there any chance to add the current security fixes to a 16.0 build, like you did for LOS 14.1?
I am sure this would be highly appreciated by a number of users.

Would you mind sharing your plan with us?

Odd Bugs not reported...

The rom is great! Has a couple of bugs; some times it won't open the button settings to let me modify the home and side buttons until I clear the cache. The only other thing I cannot get around is that wallpapers set on the lockscreen get zoomed in to the left side of the photo no matter what wallpaper app I use. The homescreen wallpaper sets exactly how I want, but even when setting both home and lockscreen wallpapers at the same time, it still gets resized to the left of the image.
Great Job, though! I imagine it has to be incredibly hard to port newer firmware to older devices and still make them run smoothly.

Also, one more bug. When the flashlight is added to the notification panel, it can be activated and turned off, but it cannot be turned on again. Downloading any 3rd party flashlight app allows the flashlight to be turned on, but trying to turn it off again crashes every app I've tried.

Most annoying is the seemingly bugged memory management, making the P605 less stable than the closely related Galaxy S5, which has to cope with 1GB of RAM less.
Frequent crashes in Firefox, many other HTML based apps and when trying to read longer(not complex or huge) PDF docs using respective apps. Tapatalk e.g. is stable and K9(Email) and YouTube, too.
Today a 64bit SoC and at least 4GB of RAM are sort of basic requirement, but 3GB should still be a big advantage over 2.
