Oh, ok, I have looked once for menu 2 kill but it was android.policy.jar not an apk
Btw how to decombile a jar file I used once winrar but it shows only a file

To decompile and compile apk and jar use vst or vts I forget the name ....

Or use APKTool as well, I use old 1.5.2 and it's fine (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1755243)

Yes takes longer than normal on first boot. Normal with any ROM including stock.

Guys, has anyone managed to install ANY navigation software on the Tab 3 with this v3.0 ROM? I tried again for Garmin StreetPilot v2.1.6 that requires Android 4.1.2 (only) but no luck, the app is crashing. Anyone?

Do you know if there are some crash logs I can study? Can someone please help me locate them?


@tempdroid: Thanks for keep working on v3.1, let us know if you advise to do a clean-install (and wiping etc. cache/system/dalvik etc.) or you think the update.zip might also do the job (if you make one).

I suggest you release it on Feb 1st so you have a new release on each month (your 1st post said Release January 2014 for v3.0 and would be nice v3.1 for Februrary)

Love this ROM, everything runs smooth and Tab reacts snappy.
Only downside is that my wifi reception isn't that good.
But it could be device related.
Phone and laptop reception is full, but tab reception is poor and internet with Chrome slow.

1) Maps is working without problems and OSMAnd+ as well, just tested again to make sure OSMAnd+ is an offline solution as well. Have a look at it.

2) Connect your tab to PC with debugging option and check logs with adb logcat.

adb logcat -v long > log.txt

Check this thread for ADB.

3) Installation guide for install and update will follow.

My laptop and my phone have better reception as well, I guess, we have to live with this... My other chinese tab is even worse...

Anyway, thanks for the advice info on the logs and the off-line navigation software suggestion. I try OruxMaps but getting the offline maps is not the easiest task. I will try OSMAnd+

konsti, I use MapFactor on my GS4 and my wife's Tab 2. I had it on the previous version of the ROM on the Tab 3 but had not gotten around to installing it yet but I am now in fact. It is a free app with free monthly updates. There is a pro version you can opt to use as well. I will let you know how it works on 3 and post back asap.

The app itself if a 9 mb install and you select the country and in the case of the US the state and it downloads additional files. I live in Florida and do not travel out of state so I only download FL for example.

The free version uses Map data Open Street Maps and the pro uses TomTom and you have to buy those maps. You also have a full range of choices for TomTom insofar as countries. The US map bundle and the rest are 14.99 EUR (the developer is non-US I am guessing.) Also with the TomTom there is the option to download truck maps.

If you choose the free option you are taken to a menu immediately where you set up the app. The Tools menu has options to calculate route, simulate route, record/replay, GPS info and odometer. There is a map manager toolbar at the bottom where you select maps to download as well as some other information like sounds, speed cameras etc. The download for Florida was 54mb currently.

That is the high level overview. I suggest you give it a try and see if it works for you. Worst case you can run with the TomTom maps option for the 14.99 EUR and call it a day but I suggest the free option first.

I am a volunteer officer with the sheriff and we do not get the laptops with the full version maps and GPS in our patrol cars. We end up having to either use a TomTom or buy our own GPS and load Streets & Trips onto the department laptops using that to get us where we need to go. I took the different approach and use the tablet as the navigation tool plugging it into the laptop using its GPS to provide the county provided map that tells me what sector and zone I am in so I know what to call out to dispatch when I am servicing a call. This combo have worked for me with the Tab 2 and I do not see why the Tab 3 won't do the same.

All that being said, ymmv but I think you will be happy with this app. Sorry for taking up a chunk of thread for this, it is more like a review than a suggestion but in the event anyone else using the ROM is having a need for a GPS and has a problem with other programs I think this is helpful.
