Most probably we switch back to due missing time to troubleshoot kernel issues like adaptive brightness. ;)
As we know the "old" sources are running very well, just applied 2 more security updates.

@followmsi

Hm, i'm not so concerned about the Display Brightness Issue but the SD Card problems people seem to have in this Thread, i got them too on the Old Build's and after a clean flesh of the lastest Build it's completly gone.

It was such a Headache updating Apps and so cuz it failed 90% of Time.

Maybe we should look in to the cause of this or why the new Kernel Code Path fixed that.

just my 2 cent's keep up you're good Work!

Pls test old kernel on your new installation .. for download see a few threads above.

Are the problems back ?

Maybe the clean install did fix your problems ?

Thx.

Does your Nougat build for RR have the new sources also or does it stay with the same ones?

Also is it possible for us to keep adding the security updates without changing sources so we do not continue to break things and not try to fix something that is not broken?

No, for Oreo only ..

The new sources are coming from Valera .. he did import new kernel (Oreo) sources from Samsung for fixing some wifi issues. .. etc.
Quite a lot of work .. happy he did this work.
Yes .. there is an problem with adaptive brightness now .. otherwise it's running good.

Don't (want to) understand your comments .. that's the way open sources works.
The user is testing too, like you do ..

We want to fix, improve or enhance it - but not to break it !

Each installation that tests with the last verios, be it LOS or RR, with the previous kernel or with the new one, everything is dead when starting. There remains a black / dead screen after passing the final start of the logo. That happens: installing on the existing installation (and doing a wipe of cache and dalvik, also doing wipe of system / cache / dalvik and not doing any wipe), always end the same. I already tried all the forms that occurred to me and I did not arrive at a correct start, it had never happened to me before with any upgrade. And in all the previous versions, I just installed the new rom, made a simple wipe of cache and dalvik and everything was perfect. I do not realize because in this last one I have this fault ....

This could happen with LOS only .. but the RR version is still fine.

Made a new RR build today and had the same problem.
Lineage has changed platform bionic - the shim libs are broken now.
I had to revert the lineage changes.

Tested RR 20160611 version without problems, and the related bionic changes were merged on 20180612.

The new RR builds (with working bionic and old kernel sources) are ready soon.

Yes, I tried LOS with 12/06 (lineage-15.1-20180612-UNOFFICIAL-gtaxlwifi.zip). With the 15/05 (which is the one that had last installed), I have no problem, in fact I made a wipe system / cache / dalvik, install and went out without problems again. But I happened with LOS and RR. Query: the version that is now of LOS, I think it's the same that I tried before, is that of 12/06 or is it a different one ?. Should I wait for the next version of LOS to try again? or yes or yes I will have to install everything from scratch, I can not keep my "data" intact so I do not have to configure everything again? --- Thanks for your help...

Just verified the sources .. indeed - the LOS version 20180612 is damaged -> broken shim libs !
Started to make a new LOS build now .. will be uploaded later.

Cheers

So in other words if I'm wanting to always have something stable, without needing to say anything or do anything I should just stick with nougat instead?

Normally no need to wipe data - dirty update from previous 32-Bit version should work without factory reset.

I will test the 64-bit builds later in August.
At this time we can discuss about future 32-bit or 64-bit builds.

Due to holiday season the August releases will be delayed !
