Sorry .. this are kind of common links .. if you want to use different gapps package or SuperSu ?
Pls search current version via Google/XDA .. like you did ;)
I did shot test latest build for my T585. Clean installation. Main issues that for me. Home button not turn on screen . Navbar buttons in landscape mode are on left side of screen. Camera crash. Wi-fi tethering point not work(not visible for other devices). Come back to my LOS 14. Sorry.:(
I wonder why the navbar has changed on clean install. (general RR code for all devices)
Anyway .. hardware power button and navbar is customizable via RR configuration or normal settings.

Camera/Video works on 580 like described above .. will check the snap camera overlay on 585.
Opencamera should work the same ..

Still the same Nougat overlays for thetering .. we may take it out completely.

The 585 sources are still very close to lineage-15.1 (Valera) sources .. except for changed Bluetooth now.

I will still build 585 version .. even I can't test it.
At some point I will merge all the "missing" 580 changes into 585 branch.

But in general you have no problems except some minor issues .. ;)

Enjoy your weekend ..

I talk about "Home" button not a "Power" button. You consider that it is some minor issues? T580 work well maybe but T585 not not not.
And i not checked all settings.

The home button is the same code for all devices too .. as said I need to check the overlays for correct config, for both 580 and 585.

Thanks for your reports on 585 !

Lost Wifi

Everything appeared to be working great. But I was watching the Nascar race using Raceview and casting to my TV when it lost wifi connection. Went to Wifi in setup and though wifi was on, it wasn't showing any connections. Had to restart to get it back.

Quick update on Buttons .. :)

Indeed RR is using another "deviceHardwareKeys" implementation as Lineage.
They are using the DU based version for Oreo.

I have changed the overlay accordingly .. for the next release you will get the following menu. (see attachment)

The "deviceHardwareWakeKeys" are missing in this version.
For this reason you will not be able to setup "Home" Button for waking up the device.
Just the VolumeRocker keys are usable to wake up device.
Hopefully RR will implement the "Wake" button function as well.

Cheers

Ok, thanks. I use this tablet a lot for reading during nighttime so I have to switch back to LOS 14.1 or RR-Nougat. If possible add this to the bug list in the first post: it's a relevant issue. Thanks again for the hard work.
There's an app called Twilight on the Play Store that you could use as an alternative. It's got more features and customisability than LiveDisplay too.

Thank you, but I think the LiveDisplay functionality is better implemented in in the LOS rom. I don't like to have external application to get basic features. I will wait until this bug and the camera one will be fixed. If not, I will stick with LOS which is at the moment a very stable and usable rom.

It's not a Lineage or RR issue .. it's a general Oreo problem.
Like many other small issues too.

Lineage does have the same problems on Oreo.
And the RR Nougat version works the same way like Lineage for Nougat.

There is no stock ROM to take the blobs from .. not like in Nougat.

All the people developing "solutions" to get stuff working .. e.g. own built Bluetooth libs ..etc.

Don't expect the "perfect" Oreo ROM for 7870 in the next time ..

Can you write a bit about the problems with video recording on Oreo?

I'm asking because I'm using Oreo (CarbonROM in this case, but OmniROM has the same issues) on my Sony Xperia Z3c and there the devs also have trouble to get video recording working, whereas it was working fine on Nogat. So the issues could be related and maybe the solution for one device (when it's finally found) will work on other devices too.

On the Z3c there is a workaround for video recording: Footej Camera records videos fine for some reason. Maybe you should give it a try on RR for the T580 too! :) Please report back if it works. :fingers-crossed:

Made somes tests on 580 .. like mentioned above

I am able to do .. (no clean install.)

Tested with Snap and OpenCamera ...

- Photo taking and saving is working (front and back camera)

- Flashlight is working. (switch on/off via quick settings)

- Video Recoding will crash camera app !

- Skype Video Chat is still working fine.

- Sending Video Messages via telegram works

.. etc.

The camera apps crash if you start video recording.
But video chats are still working fine .. e.g. skype

Prebuilt libvulkan.so has been used to make it working better .. but this will break playstore.
Now we build the libvulkan.so from sources and playstore works ..

Not sure about video taking on a 10 inch tablet anyway .. video messaging is working, which seems more important to me.

All this takes plenty of time... Hope to find the culprit at some point.

Cheers

EDIT:
Tested "your" camera app now .. yes, video works in this one .. back and front camera.

Thanks for testing, so Footej Camera works as a workaround for video recording with your Oreo ROM too. :good: It would be interesting to know why this camera app works and most other apps fail, maybe that would be the key to fix this bug.

Anyway, because of the same symptoms it seems to me that the video recording bug isn't device specific but a general problem of several Oreo Custom ROMs. IDK, maybe their driver architecture is too old for Oreo and needs some kind of wrapper or adaption.

If you don't mind, I would write about our conversation on the Xperia Z3c CarbonROM Oreo thread and mention you as the dev of the Galaxy SM-T580 RR Oreo ROM, so you could get in touch with the devs for the Xperia Z2 / Z3 / Z3c devices. With exchange of some ideas it should be easier to tackle this bug. :highfive:

Could you please remove the full-quote of the opening post from your post or at least put it into HIDE tags? This would make your post much easier to read. Thanks! :)

There are several people working on this topic for various exynos cameras.
There are Nougat blobs existing.
For Oreo plenty of shim libs are used as well.

At some point camera should work ...
