Thanks for your comments, I'd like to do a bit more with this rom, I've been spending a bit of time trying to get a T825 rom going with no luck, difficult when i can't test it myself,.
At least this works ?
Lol, trying to build a RR rom for the 820 and having issues myself. Mainly trying to figure the right way to get binaries and kernel into the source code, so I feel your pain. :)

Thanks for this. Some more feedback. TM820 rooted by ashyx method. Otherwise stock AQBB.

I didn't have much time to play with it, so I just did a nandroid backup, dirty flashed the ROM from TWRP and couldn't get past a bootloop. Retreated to TWRP and restored back to AQBB.

I expect the dirty flash is the problem, but I'm not prepared to wipe data. Any hints on dirty flashing?

When you finish the flash before you Reboot you could try restoring the bootloader only from twrp,
Not sure if all the others had clean flash or not

That worked! Just to recap:

1. Started with AQBB. Boot to TWRP, Nandroid backup
2. Dirty flash of this ROM
3. Wipe cache & dalvik cache
4. Nandroid restore of just the boot partition from #1
5. Reboot (6 minutes)
6. AQF5. Good!

Check out AKT kernel tweaks for one plus 3. I believe it works for this device also. Not sure if it's a placebo effect but seems smoother. All I did was install the apk and use the tweaks from there.
Hey @rorymc928. :) I see there's been about 90 or so downloads but no real feedback. Sooo my take. :D I flashed a couple days ago and all seems to be working perfect so far. When I test I like to run through all the settings and haven't gotten all the way through, but checking about half the settings, so far seems like everything's running perfect. I flashed, booted, set some settings, deleted some Sammy stuff I'll just never use, installed BusyBox and restored apps through Titanium and all's been running perfect. Battery seems to be really good. On a dimmed screen reading, it looks like I could get about 10 to 12 hours battery with everything enabled. Great first effort. :D:good:

I'm curious as I'm thinking about picking this device up. Do any of you have the battery draining Wi-Fi bug when the device is sleeping ? Does this ROM attempt to remedy that or is that a firmware issue?

No Wi-Fi drain bug here. :) Just an example, I read last night with the screen dimmed almost all the way, but everything turned on, wifi, bt, location, etc etc. It estimated I'd get about 12 hours sot. Sooo, no drains here. :good:

That would imply a change related to the bootloader, if you upgrade with the full AQF5 firmware first, then flash the the ROM , it should work, thanks for your help ☺

I had to revert back. Most everything with this was good, except for a strange video bug. With various video players and the source on internal or external sd, it stalled and skipped around and had no audio. By "skipped around", I mean it would play a couple of seconds, then backup a few seconds, green play slow motion - just random screwiness. Anybody else seem this?

I then reverted to AQBB to check everything was good. Tried @rorymc928's stock version of AQF5 and saw the same video behavior on that.

I've not experienced any problem like this, so just checked a few videos, avi, mp4, h264, mkv, xvid, with mx player and vlc media player, all with no problem, may be an individual problem. You could try re installing your video player

Thanks very much for the donation too.

Weird. It happened with three different video players on both the stock and the stock+tweaked versions. I need to verify, but I think audio dropped out for everything on the tablet. One commonality is that they are both dirty flashed (wiping only cache + dalvik). Has anyone else dirty flashed?

I've got some time tomorrow, so I'll play a little more and do a wipe data to test.

Ah, maybe that's the difference. I flashed AQF5 stock through Odin and then out of curiosity wiped all except ExtSD in TWRP and then flashed this rom and all worked fine. I'd try a clean flash and then try a vid right away. I'd try with a vid stored on internal storage as well.

Went from weird to really weird. I factory wiped and flashed stock+tweaked and got the same problem on a fresh system. As an experiment, I then flashed just the old data partition with the same problem. So, it doesn't matter if it's clean or dirty, if it's stock AQF5 or stock+tweaked, I have the problem.

But, I do have a little better definition of the problem. It's more audio than video. And only with the tablet speakers, not Bluetooth. If I turn on Bluetooth, both audio and video play perfectly fine. Without Bluetooth, there's no audio and the video stutters (to better describe, the video plays at just a few frames per second and occasionally jumps back by a few seconds). Doesn't matter whether the source is on internal or external sd; didn't matter which of several video or audio players I use.

EDIT: One more data point. I booted into SAFE mode and it still stutters. I can turn on Bluetooth in the middle of a video or mp3/wav audio, the player will correct itself and be perfect.

Just wanted to chime in with my experience:
Tab came in today, immediately flashed twrp and the tweaked ROM.
Went into a bootloop... Hadn't noticed that the ROM on the tab was an AQBB, while the modified ROM am AQF5.
Downloaded stock AQF5 and flashed everything via Odin.
Flashed twrp and modified ROM again and, after an 8 min first boot, all is working wonderfully!

Thanks dev!!

Yeah looks like the earlier roms will need to update to the newer firmware first

I received my tablet yesterday. First I applied the latest software update. Then I installed TWRP, SuperSu, and the boot patch as described in this thread.
After backing up I did a wipe and flashed this ROM. It took about five minutes. It restarted once just as it began to draw the Samsung logo, which I assume is normal.
I checked a video - no issues with video or audio.
Antutu was much faster, but both the before and after tests were much lower than what I've seen reported for the device. (Before 88000, after 102000.)
I tested some other basic functionality - a few apps, the camera, the pen - all good.
That's awesome. Thanks!

Thanks for the review, for me I find benchmarks good for comparing your own device changes, you can never be sure about configuration differences with other peoples devices, they may be stripped out (debloated) or oversped.
Glad this roms working for you
