Hey bro
I just downloaded and tested my SM-T825. Running own build, NO overclocked, kernel.
My score: 139097
Screenshot attached.
Regards
DeHAWK
For the record as I said individual devices have individual performance, what's more relevant is the change that occurs with each users alterations.
My antutu score 146629

Just out of curiosity, would an AMOLED System UI (settings, draw-to-text pad) be possible? The Samsung-specific substratum stuff doesn't seem to work unfortunately.

You mean like hand writing recognition?
If so there are apps around that do it, so it's feasible, but it would be a bit beyond my capabilities

@OP, any possibility of modifying ROM to include Theme store?? My only issue is not being able to theme. Not sure WTF samsung was thinking leaving out theme store on tablets.

SELinux mode set causing bootloop?

First a quick thanks! This rom was the only way I was able to get my tablet rooted and stable (I made the mistake of trying to root/TWRP on a QI2 rom, which.. didn't work).

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck in setting SELinux into Permissive mode? Every-time I try to do this the the tab hangs and then reboots and I have to flash a backup to get it back to working and stable. Has anyone out there tryed this?

Alternately, has anyone had any luck with running one of the linux distro installers on this tab? This is the reason I'm trying to change to permissive.
Thanks!
Paul

To the first question, I tried that myself a while back, similar result haven't tried since.
No to the second.

Just to ask you though, did you use the TWRP method by ashyx for your attempt at root?

I've been having a bit of a battle with the new firmware too

I did use the TWRP method and I was able to get TWRP installed but I could never get it to boot into the system rom once I was finished flashing SU and the dm hack. In retrospect (didn't realize it at the time) I think that the new rom is incompatible with this version of TWRP... I was worried I'd bricked the device but when I flashed your rom I was able to get it to boot again so I guess not. At that point (AQF5) I was able to complete rooting.

I've been thinking of rolling my own kernel for this version (AQF5) that disables SELinux to see if that allows me to install linux (part of what I wanted this tablet for was as a small linux laptop).

Related question, I'm a novice to building Android kernels and roms but not to Linux, what gcc toolchain did you use to build this rom (or did you have to do any compiling?). It seems like there are a lot of crosscompilers out there but I'm not sure whats best.
Thanks!
Paul

I'd like to get some theming mods in it, trying to get it updated at the moment to the new firmware, bit bogged down
Hi, I'd be willing to test if needed. I found a way also if it won't boot into recovery.. Boot into download first then try booting into recovery. Happened to me a couple of times when modifying system files.

SM-T820 Tweaked by rorymc928 1.1

Tweaked stock Samsung ROM

Pre-Rooted

AQF5 base

Improved SD read ahead
Zipalign on boot
Internet speed improvement
Possibly smoother?
Subtle increase in benchmark speeds about 5%

Not a major change but wanted to do something

Thanks to
Chainfire for supersu
Ashyx for custom twrp and rooting process
Samsung for the base

Do your backups,
Best with a full wipe

Please post your results

AQI2 based ROM uploading, slowly, will take a few hours
Will be best to update to the AQI2 firmware first, dirty flash over that worked for me.
Same tweaks by me, I ran the stock firmware for a while, it seemed a little slower than previous, tinkered with it so the speed with the tweaked ROM is about the same as the 1.1 version.
If anyone has a chance, benchmark before and after and post your results.
If you need to update your firmware have a look at ashyx's TWRP thread for the best method. ☺

Hey guys,
Is there anyway to get Google Assistant working on this device? I have tried a couple of methods that I've found but none work by saying "OK Google". TIA!!!
First, remember to switch the language of whole system to one of supported languages (like en-us), if you don't use one.
For example, my domestic locale isn't supported so I have to switch language setting to english.
Second, I managed the assistant to run by trying two methods (described below) but not sure if both are required and if not - which one is the working one.
1) You may try this app: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...assistant-0-1-171067374-android-apk-download/ which creates a shortcut to assistant's activity, giving the possibility to opt-in even if Google Assistant menus in Google app are missing.
2) You may also want to add:
ro.opa.eligible_device=true
to build.prop. I remember I heard that the method should be considered as depreciated but I have a strong feeling that it helped to solve the problem for me.. Hope this helps.

The assistant is working as intended on T825, including some recent features like analyzing the screenshot's content after long-pressing home etc etc. I guess it will work for T820 too. I have disabled it on my device thought, at least for now, as I find it too annoying to switch the language of whole Android every time I'd like to play with it and to re-configure standard Ok Google voice command every time I want to use it back in my native language. However, above issue isn't related to device in any way so guess I just have to be patient and wait until support for my language is added.

Hi guys,
Does this allow Magisk to flashed or do I have to uninstall SU first to get a clean boot.img?
Any help appreciated.
I'd like to know this as well!

Thanks for updating to AQI2. Is USB OTG C for direct external NTFS HDD mounting supported on your ROM? Also (based on my current device info right now), do we just flash your Tweaked v1.6 SM-T820 ROM zip file right through twrp if we have done that already? I also have the Flash Kernel v1.1 installed (SE Linux Permissive). There are no instructions in your OP.

The Galaxy Tab S2 has USB-NTFS OTG mounting and the Flash Kernel v1.1 (for Tab S3 in this same subforum) is still being troubleshooted with the developer @schwabe93. I already have done the following with twrp/SuperSU from @ashyx 's thread as well. Other details as noted in "My current device info" below.

@R.Kade + @rorymc928, was this a feature lost from flashing this ROM? I'm new with samsung terminology features.

My current device info [Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 T820, WiFi]: (kernel version: 3.18.31 Flash-KernelV1.1+) / Android Version : 7.0 / build number: NRD90M.T820XXU1AQI2, Android Security Patch: August 1, 2017, SE for Android Status: Permissive / twrp_3.1.0-1_sm-t820_AQD6 + no-verity-no-encrypt_ashyx + SuperSU v2.82 SR5 Beta

Sorry for the delay answering,
This ROM is based direct off the stock firmware, flash kernel would be your best try for OTG, I have not tried that myself,if flash kernel worked with the stock firmware for you before, it should work with this ROM. You would need to reflash the kernel after flashing this ROM as it uses the stock kernel.
