Thank you for your help. Following your directions made my tablet work perfectly. I did something stupid though ( I locked oem) and now I am in bootloop , blocked by frp.
So I guess my only solution is to go back to stock, unless somebody has any other suggestions. The only thing I was trying was to get rid of the yellow kernel warranty warning at the beginning....
Glad the first bit worked, let's see if we can work this out, try getting in to recovery, once there, you could try flashing straight over with the ROM
If that doesn't work, try loading a firmware through odin.
If it boots with either see if you can select the unlock oem switch to unlock.
Otherwise is back to stock and start again.
Good luck

cannot initiate recovery. Only download mode. When I use Odin to download something It fails because oem is locked. Is there a proper way to avoid having that yellow warning kernel warranty message at the beginning. Trying to eliminate that caused all my problems.

There is a method to remove the message I'll look into that.

From download mode you should be able to get to recovery mode.
1.Do the 3 finger push to commence heading for download mode.
2.When it gives you the option of reboot, press volume down to do that.
This time though be quick and press volume up and home button simultaneously.
This should start it booting to recovery.
If it won't then, the only option is to flash via download mode.
If you can't get to recovery, step one should allow you to get to download mode to flash firmware via odin.
Oem lock should not prevent flashing via odin.

Well, thanks for your interest. To fix the problem I had to go the hard way.....
I downloaded the srock oreo rom.
Put my tablet in download mode ( everything else was NOT working. Even recovery was not accessible)
Flash the stock rom with ODIN, and then I rooted and flashed xposed the suggested by ashyx way...
Obviously I lost my data again in the process but I learned my lesson, OEM SWITCH MUST ALWAYS REMAIN IN THE ON POSITION. Now everything
works fine, with the usual issues ( Google play-->uncertified and cannot pass safety net test)
Again thanks for your help and interest.

Got to admit I was unaware that reselecting it would cause a problem. I guess someone at Samsung figured if you've already modified they don't want the switch in that position. I rooted my phone a month or so ago, had to wait for a week after initial setup of stock before the oem switch magically appears, then you can switch it, I messed up the process and went back to stock again to restart, found I had to wait another week for the switch to appear again, urgh

My T825 is currently running stock 8.0 BRE2.

Would be possible to install your Nougat build?

The reason to keep with Nougat is to have the adoptable storage's script installed.

Yes but when you are in TWRP, you need to flash the bootloader for the earlier build, oreo brought a new bootloader which is not backwards compatible. Before you do it have you examined using xposed, module, xinternal sd, not sure if it gives you what you're after but worth a look.

Force a reboot by holding, volume down, home and power keys. This will take you to the download start page.

Don't go to download, press volume down to restart.
Expect it to reboot to recovery.

Then select reboot.
The boot, as with all initial boots after rom install will be slow.

As it was installing busybox, busybox install may not have completed but the rest of the install should have been successful.
Let me know how that goes
hi rory, is this a bug only in the debloated version? Or the full version has the same bug?
Hope you can fix it! Booted up perfectly though.. maybe remove busybox from the install script?
Thank you!

The bug appears to be related to the rom size, the latest flashes I've done on the T820 haven't shown it at all, although some others may have had it occur . Rather than a complete halt, it quite often appears to have slown down, very slow .
I will remove busybox from later installs, the issue actually has no effect on the installation of the rom, if you read the twrp progress you'll see the progress state, it really only becomes a problem waiting for completion of the final scripts , in earlier tests I found what ever I removed it just progressed backwards to the previous script and stalled there instead.
The debloating has helped, KainanMaki is doing some testing on the t825 at the moment and removal of busybox has been discussed.
The best work around at the moment is to observe what stage the flash has completed and as long as the root /magisk has gone, if it stalls, force a reboot then.
This last T825 was a manual build to ensure it was up to the approximate level of the T820,as the auto builds were producing a boot error when tested by KainanMaki

@rorymc928 is there any new build coming soon? Not asking for any eta. I'm planning to do a reinstall, that's why..
KainanMaki is doing some testing for the t825 at the moment mainly for installation issues, any changes from my end will still have to wait on that.

New build uploading
3.5 DB4, tested by jaidev.s, thanks to jaidev.s for his speedy help for the testing.
I'm told it loads and runs smoothly, first boot after flash takes a couple of minutes.
Based on the new BRG3 base.
Also updated to magisk 17.1
A few build property changes, busybox removed, return of google TTS to the rom it's absence was effecting other apps.
Let me know how it goes, dirty(no wipe) flash should be fine, wipe only if you need to clean up your tab.

Thanks for the frequent updates.
Don't know if this has been asked before but would consider adding an aroma installer with apps removed as an option for users to install the needed ones during flashing the rom?

Secondly is it possible to add reboot menu items to the power menu?

Thanks once again for your hard work.
