Pixel is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.4 (KitKat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device. Special Thanks to Slim Roms :)

Code:
#include
/*
 * Your warranty is now void.
 *
 * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
 * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
 * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
 * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
 * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
 */
Pixel is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. Pixel does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for Pixel is available in the Pixel Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to Pixel Project, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Hi dev,

If I understood correctly, this version of pixel rom has Google apps installed? Is it possible to provide a version without Google apps and services? I am very eager to try this, but I'm looking to use a non-Google rom.

Many thanks

Awesome

Wow you're awesome! Thanks so much for this, I was eager to get my hands on Kit Kat (and for that matter, anything 4.1+)

Some things don't seem to be working, but I don't need them because I had never seen them before:

  • the Dark Pixel option
  • Halo doesn't show up ever
  • DashClock FCs everytime.

I think I saw some more stuff, I'll be happy to report them if it helps you!

Anyway, so awesome :D
Even the ****ing font on this renders better than it did on Sony's custom ROM.
