What Is OmniROM?

Code:
/*
 * Your warranty is now void.
 *
 * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
 * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
 * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
 * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
 * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you. Hard. A lot.
 */

First keep in mind this is an alpha version, its unstable and some things don't work so please be patient. its far from being a daily driver at this point, also, please follow every step and triple check that you do or you may have issues.

Warning!! make sure you have a good charge in your battery, also do not disconnect battery during boot, or you will be stuck in bootloop until you use odin to flash a new kernel

Steps to install:
1. extract the gapps somehwhere, copy the extracted gapps zip + the txt file to the device
2. format data partition to f2fs in TWRP the perform a Full wipe using TWRP (and I mean full wipe! system, data, cache etc)
3. Install ROM
4. Install attached gapps (other gapps may cause heavy slowdowns and/or failure due to lack of space, this gapps removes most of the bloat including browser, camera, wallpapers and more and leaves core apps alone), this WILL take a while, permissions needs to be fixed so for now its slow, if you can't wait you can force reboot when it tries to set permissions, but i'd wait to avoid issues
5. reboot and wait, it takes a long time to boot and once it does its very slow the first time so be patient
6. recommended: set overclock to 1400 mhz and minimum to 200 to avoid some of the lag, also reboot after setup is complete to clear some memory that wizard uses and caches

For youtube, I recommand using this apk: link
Its a bit old but works very well on our device and plays 720p videos with no issues. the new player from the app store is very slow and playback is very choppy, also no 720p playback.

Status:
Working:
  • RIL
  • Wifi
  • BT
  • Sensors
  • GPS
  • Camera (use third party such as open camera
  • Internal SD
  • Audio + vibrate
  • buttons
  • USB storage (Make sure you disable debug mode when you use it since it causes issues mounting it sometimes)
  • External Storage
  • SELINUX (permissive for now until I add permissions but its low on my priority right now)

Not Working:
  • selinux is permissive, not sure if its worth investing time in getting it to enforced

Kernel:
Commited all the required commits for 6.0 + Coldwindofnowhere's overclocking commits since the device would run very slow with out them (thanks Coldwindofnowhere), built using his UberTC gcc 5.3.

hmmm... no idea, try using an older recovery that's not TWRP and see if it works, I only had this issue once and it worked fine after wipe

EDIT: I think i know what you should do, in TWRP format that data partition to f2fs instead of ext4, I think that will solve it

The dev should look at this commit, it fixes ril https://github.com/lollipopi9000/android_device_samsung_aries-common/commit/d16d39ec1dce68945e7094578a5c59193eb2caec

Only thing is they need to remove the md5.h file, that's only related to the exynos3 board i believe, but the rest should work.

I faced the exact same problem on my Note 2 last week. Not able to find exact solution for my device and ROM. Then I tried this and everything is restored. Though the internal got wiped. Please note for this method to work you need to install CWM using Odin.

Just a little update, I've been working on getting CM to the i9000, no beta yet, but here is the status.

Everything is working except a small error in BT (but it works) and home button for some reason isn't working, im looking into it.

Other then that works pretty well, I am trying to shrink the size a bit though so we don't waste room, screenshots coming soon

EDIT: fixed the home button issue, looks like all is working in CM, and performance is really really good (compared to omni), feels very smooth, i used the official stable CM instead of the nightly version, ill upload it in the next few days, in the meantime, a screenshot

New version will be up soon, no big changes, mainly performance

    Changes:
    * Disabled preoptdex (ART pre optimizing apps) since pre-optimizing may help first boot but makes later performance much worse
    * Fixed a small SD bug (not the big one yet guys)
    * Fixed the whole f2fs issue, you no longer need to manually format data as f2fs, both system and data are formatted to f2fs using updater script
    * Removed some more omni apps that take up precious space and aren't really needed (cough cough, apollo)
    13
New build coming later today, sorry for the no updates, I was very busy and also felt that the ROM has reached a stable enough level that it didn't need as many updates.
