I found something that doesn't work. It is a little know/obscure feature of our devices unless you are a running or cycling enthousiast. And that is ANT+.

I recently bought a home trainer which is compatible with Zwift (kind of a serious video game where you can cycle in a virtual world). I can link my hometrainer via bluetooth and it works perfectly. However I would like to pair my Garmin forerunner 235 to have a heartrate monitor. Unfortunitly that watch only supports ANT+ for heartrate transmission. I used it succesfully with strava on the S7 in the past, but Zwift can't find the device.

So done some digging:
- reinstalled ANT Radio Service
- Anttester says built in ANT detected: NO

I happen to have my wife's old S7 with a broken screen with stock rom on it and it works there:

It might be just a permission issue. However ANT Radio Service never asks for permissions and I don't know how to give an app or service persmissions it is not asking for without root acces.

I ran into the same issue, however the google searching that I did seemed to indicate that it's not possible to enable this as the drivers are not released for ant radio (or something like that). So I ended up buying an ant+ usb stick and connecting it via otg to get heart rate on the phone when using a trainer.

Take a note that a lot of LineageOS features have not been completed yet this is not a device bug and please do not report those
in this rom thread as you will be reported to moderator also do not post bug reports for known issues or bug reports without proper
a) Logcat
b) proc/last_kmsg (or proc/kmsg)
c) data/tombstones
d) dmesg

Also do not under any circumstances post bug reports if you are using substratum themes or unsupported magisk modules or you have performed any system modifications


Install gapps right after installing the rom itself dont try to boot to system before that if you want to use gapps
NikGapps and BiTgapps were both tested and working

If you are coming from pre January 2021 build remove fingerprints and delete /data/system/locksettings.db this is needed due to mobicore version change which helped fix fingerprint with 3rd party secure apps

I have had issues with Android Auto connecting to my car with Android 11. This morning I found that CR Droid 7.2 does not work but LOS 18.1 does work (connects to car). Hope this helps others as Ivan clearly continues to provide an excellent ROM to keep the S7 going as a daily phone. Thanks Ivan.

I figured we are missing the ANT hardware abstraction layer. Might as well try to extract that from the stock rom since that has not been updated in 2 years. ( see: https://github.com/ant-wireless/Android_ANTHALService)

So I extracted the missing ANT system apps form stock rom with skit. And tried to install them as system app via adb:

PS C:\platform-tools> ./adb reboot

After a reboot the ANT hal apk sadly is not installed when I check with Skit. The other one did install via the above method. Don't know where to look for the error log so I am stuck here.

I don't have an Android IDE set up, nor do I program in Java. So trying to build the APK from the source above for android 11 is not an option for me.

Do the SamsungHealth and related (Samsung Gear) apps work with this great LOS 18.1 release? As I own a Samsung Gear S3 Classic smartwatch, I would like to still have it synced with my S7. I appreciate your feedback very much, as I do not want to abondon the (outdated) Samsung stock FW and flashing LOS 18.1 only to learn (too late) that SamsungHealth and the Samsung Gear S3 Classic smartwatch are not supported by or do not work with LOS 18.1.

And to get some hints for good replacements of the stock camera app would also be great.

Footej Camera 2 seems a pretty good alternative and seems reasonably stable

I can confirm that the app works just fine. The watch should work just fine, just like on any non Samsung Android phone. But I don't have a samsung smartwatch so could not test.

Hello,

Sometimes the buttons at the bottom light up and sometimes they don't even though I have it permanently enabled. If I set that they should go on only briefly, it also does not work.

Vendor is some months old, why is it not updated?

Searching is not possible in the app. Just uninstall the app and use xda on browser. I don't think you are the idiot here.

@Ivan_Meler do you have any say on which kernel goes in the rom? Because the oldest supported kernel according to kernel.org is 4.4.258 as of 01/03, can't this be bumped in the next release by any chance? Anxiously awaiting the March patch update. Cheers and thanks for the ROM!

I had no issues with encryption on the last build. Did a clean install.
