You have to flash Batyan's dev ROM from this thread over Gearbest's 20s, because you can't unlock Gearbest 20s, even though the OEM unlocking option is present. Follow the steps listed in the first post of this thread carefully to avoid a bricked phone.
But people are saying that you can if it's 20s and that you don't risk getting a brick.. What's the truth?

That's an old post, I didn't realize that pretty much every version of 20s that comes on internationally-sold phones, apart from WIXCNFN5802005041S, allow for safe unlocking. F.J.V confirmed that for me a few days back.

Hey man when i go to Recovery and select update system appears. "Failed to Update ! Cause: APK not found", what can i do ?
Is it in the root of your internal storage? i.e. Where the 'Music', 'Movies', 'Pictures', 'Ringtones' folders are.

If that doesn't work, then I guess you can't update to a stock ROM when you're on a vendor ROM, which is what I'm assuming you are on. At least, that's what I gleaned from reading a few threads about this issue. In that case, you wouldn't need Batyan's dev ROM. If you're on 20s from Banggood/Geekbuying/Gearbest/Aliexpress/whatever, you're on a shop ROM and you can unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP without issue.

How can i flash this rom with TWRP installed?
But... why would you want to do that? Are you trying to go back to stock 26s, for whatever reason? Or some other completely stock firmware? Because most x722s sold to international customers come with unofficial vendor ROMs created by the retailers that sell them--Banggood, Geekbuying, Gearbest, etc. create their own unofficial multi-language 20s ROMs to put on x722s. And they're all identical. These 20s ROMs can be unlocked and are TWRP-friendly, so they're pretty much the same as the 01D ROM.

The 01D ROM is only for those on stock firmwares who can't flash TWRP because the bootloader is locked down, i.e. stock 26s. Some paranoid people (like me) would be interested in flashing the 01D ROM before unlocking the bootloader just in case... :p I can't fathom why someone with TWRP would want to do this though.

As for the answer to your question, I'm not 100% sure. I assume you can't simply flash the update.zip through TWRP since the ROM probably contains the stock recovery, so you'd have to flash the stock recovery first using adb, thus overwriting TWRP, and then flash the 01D ROM.

Sorry for my lack of explanation, yes i want to go back to stock, the IR Blaster is really useful to me, also i am having all sorts of problems including random reboots and worst of all the phone heats up during charge like crazy, so i really want to go stock with this rom so i can stability but also make use of root on my device i only don't know how to.
Has you said i think i have to flash stock recovery but i am affraid it will brick my phone.
If you can direct me to what i need to do i would be thankfull.

How about you just flash a modded 26s ROM instead? The 26s custom ROMs are safe, perform well, better than stock ROMs, and have the IR Blaster and Magisk.

Genesys 26s: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...d-mods/genesys-26s-lepro3-x722-elite-t3702747

Aroma: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...s/x722full-aroma20smodded-28s-lemax2-t3701799

Don't bother going back to the "stock" 20s ROMs, because, as I explained they're neither stock (created officially by LeEco) nor are they particularly good.

Which ROM are you on that's causing random reboots and heat issues?

Thank You very much

Both AICP and Pixel Experience, but AICP is the one who gave me the heat on charge and i cant even uninstall apps through Settings, the touch on the buttons doesnt work in the apps uninstall for whatever reason, i think i am the only one with this problems but im going to report them to the developer just in case.

BTW between those 2 Rom's, the Aroma and the Genesys, what do you recommend?

IDK, I've never personally used those ROMs, nor do I ever intend on using them because I don't care for custom eUI ROMs. Choose whichever one has the best support (according to you). A lot of people like Genesys. Also, you should try the other custom ROMs here. Like LineageOS by codeworkx or soulaiman.

Your issues might be due to not having a proper CPU governer setting.

In LineageOS there's a kernel auditor app you can use to change this setting. Here's an example of soulaiman's settings:

Taken from https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74526407&postcount=16

Not 100% guaranteed to fix your issues though.

If I understand you, the 20S ( != 01D? ) ROM from any Chinese webshop is ready to be unlocked and flashed with TWRP without any problems?
Then what would you gain by flashing the 20S by the 01D? Is the 01D source more reliable? Is it original Le Eco? Just asking...:) Thanks for reply.

Yeah, because those are usually custom ROMs. But there are a lot of LeEco vendor ROMs out there, and we can't be sure that all of them can be unlocked safely. So if you don't have a conventional vendor ROM from Banggood, Geekbuying, Gearbest, etc. you may want to flash the 01D ROM just to be safe.

Hmmm.... I have read somewhere here, that 01D = development ROM is not suitable for daily use (buggy?).
The more I read all those summaries about X722 (zl0) unlocking/TWRP/flashing, the more I am confused,
even though I have flashed a few times my X820.

1. There are two versions TWRP. Why? What is the difference? Any difference?

2. From PA 7.3.1. thread "<b>Unlock bootloader. Best to be on 26S firmware, 20S will also work.</b>" Whaaaat?
see point 1. in Installation : https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...aranoid-android-7-3-1-x722-elite-zl0-t3706478

3. I did compare A. <i>170720-乐视X722-5.8.020S-6.0-纯净-by-Batyan.rar</i> and B. <i>X722-5.8.020S-by-Batyan.zip</i>
The number and content of files in directory <i>images</i> and <i>tools</i> are identical (via CRC)
The A. file has additional <i>update.zip</i> directory and in it the same file -> update.zip. What is it?

I would say, the ideal would be to have the LeEco ROM E.U.I 5.9.026S in order to have the latest device drivers (camera, FP, BT, modem, etc....)
Then unlock the bootloader (BL) and flash a custom ROM .... but that is exactly what not to do, right?
I do not understand fully, what gets replaced by the custom ROM - kernel? device drivers? what?
My ideal/goal is to have Android 7.1.x with Gapps pico, loaded by TWRP, and with optionally Magisk 15.3.
I know what I want, but do not know how to get there. I have no preference - Lineage, PA, or anything else, but no efing EUI!

I think the newer version of TWRP from codeworkx (3.2.1, I believe) has more features.

Huh, IDK about that. Maybe ask the dev why that is? Most custom ROMs only require you to have 20s.

dakok writes that it may be better to be on custom 26s before flashing this ROM because it might have newer firmware that would cause less bugs on a custom ROM, but IDK: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74666640&postcount=83

IDK where you got B. from, because I only have A.

A. is what Batyan posted in this thread's OP and I'm going to stick to it.

Don't use the stock 26s ROM, use a custom 26s ROM like Genesys. Or I guess you could compile your own to remove the bootloader locking issue.

The software is what changes.

You can get all of that with any Nougat custom ROM. Again, choose whatever you want. I'd probably choose the ROM that gets the most bug fixes and has active development behind it. I'd probably go for an Oreo ROM but so many apps are broken in Oreo (not our devs' faults but app developers' faults for not updating for Oreo)... sigh. Including the one game I play a lot.

I got this B. right from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74128632&postcount=40

But for me, it seems to be a moot point, now, for I have read this forum for a few hours more and understand it.
What helped me tho most was this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...guides-development--and-mods/summary-t3734994
Thanks to you all guys involved in that discussion.

It was my mistake to assume that every x722 needs to downgrade to the 01D ROM... in fact, that can cause some minor bootloop issues for some. As long as you have a vendor 20s ROM, you can safely unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP. :good: It's only stock 20s and stock 26s from LeEco that prevent you from doing that.

Some x722s come with unlocked bootloaders, so that makes it even easier. Just make sure to check fastboot.

after downgrade and unlock bootloader is better to flash batyan 20S, I've added that recommendation on my thread, that way you won't have any bootloops
