I'm not too sure if that's the case, but you could have bad blocks in boot sector. You could try to fix it by following this guide by BlaY0. As i've said before, i'm quite big noob here too, so i can be wrong, but that's what i would try out first.
This is not a bad blocks issue, as duscussed in previous threads all you need is an HBOOT 1.00, which can you can get by unrooting and OTA'ing the "legit" way.
It's quite a long proccess to unroot, burn via ruu. ota twice, re-root and downgrade for an hboot but thats how I've done it and it worked a charm.

How are you so sure?
If by using the legit upgrade process instead of adb or clock work burn there seems to be no problem at all what so ever - I could just as easily claim (and with hard evidence actually) that this is really a clockwork issue rather then a bad blocks issue. Or should I say boot loader that can't handle the standard amount of bad blocks that are expected and accounted for by the manufacturer so they are not to pose a problem in the first place. (Try saying that thee times, could knock your lights out :) )

By saying this, you clearly pointed out that you haven't read my HOWTO about HBOOT 1.00 because everything is explained there. You also made it evident, that you have actually never looked at recovery log file. And yes, you answered yourself when you said that it is bootloader's fault. Now go and read my HOWTO ;)

Even with error at that point of flashing and flashing customized kernel from B ROM thread's 1st post attachments afterwards would result in working system because my kernel is small enough to fit boot partition even with 3 bad sectors/blocks.

Sorry, but your cooked ROM has nothing to do with this thread. My aim was to provide rooted, stock 3.15.405.3 ROM. Nothing else.
Post it somewhere in development section, i'm sure some people will be happy to see it ;)

Not playing ball here, getting a FC in process com.android.settings when it starts up. Tried flashing several times and clearing data.

Any suggestions?

Hey guys, this may be a stupid question, but is there any official changelog from this version vs prior ones? I see the below on the HTC site. Just wondering if it is worth the time to update from my current 3.14.161.1. Thanks!

Update – HTC Legend Android 2.2 Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) update
You can now download the latest software update for new features and improved performance. It won’t delete any of your content and we’d recommend using a Wi-Fi connection as this is a large update. If not, standard data connection charges may apply. Any questions? Contact us via www.htc.com. After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Firmware version (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone>Software number). The new Software number will be 3.15.405.3. Update Information: Android 2.2 and HTC Sense update Note: We still recommend you back up your all personal data first.

I have'nt made any changes to this ROM (except rooting), so i guess you'd have the same problems with official RUU is well.
I have no clue why is this happening, so all i can sugest is to use Nandroid Restore or get the logcat and post it here. Hopefuly someone would help you.
By the way, i've tested this ROM on two phones and i didn't notice a single problem.

The phone is a debranded Vodafone legend on T-Mobile. It's been mentioned that taking the SIMCard out, it does not FC, but it FC as soon as the SIMCard is inserted.

It's no a critical problem anymore, as I am running the Vodafone Froyo with the branding removed, but it would be nice to run the official HTC release.

There are quite a few other posts of the same problem, and it affects other ROMS too...

Compare /system/build.prop from both WWE and Voda FroYo... and don't just paste here both coz I could do that too. Find differences, google those and make sure you understand them. Post your findings here for others to benefit...
