The update.zip is the bootloader and modem. The part 2 is the boot and system (the rom).

question for you since you answered this guys original question - I went into my hidden menu and jacked up my APN settings. The things you do to try to get freakin MMS to work properly on TMobile, sigh...

If I extract part 1, I should be able to just go into TWRP and flash the modem in order to go back to my default settings, correct? Or should I just redo the entire procedure again to be safe.

I would look into doing the whole thing over again. Get the 20j rooted tot by tungkick and I know you can flash that on 20L with no problems. Then update using Eliminaters part one then two to update to L.

Guys, I've got a T-Mo variant 901 and just flashed the 20L kdz with LGUP utility. I'm wanting to return to 100% stock so I can sell it. The whole process is flawless. Once it's completed flashing in the download mode, it reboots and brings me to the welcome screen as it would new. But continuing, I find out it has no wifi, or bluetooth. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? I had started searching for the 20L .tot but can't find it anywhere and was hoping this 20L kdz file I have is just bad or something.

Any help would be appreciated!

I can never get to recovery holding hardware keys/buttons either. I connect to pc and use "adb reboot recovery" (I mean I do this after fiddling with buttons and googling for an hour).

Regarding shutdown hang stuck at reboot issue, I fiddled for a week. Ultimately, wiping system and data fixed the problem. Probably wiping data would have been enough because only wiping system DID NOT fix the issue. Deleting shutdownanimation had no resolution for me. Nor did changing shutdownanimation via the Aroma tool recommended earlier in this thread. Nor did removing the cheapish external sdcard. Another bit of observation, google play services was crashing a lot as I kept fiddling, does not crash after full wipe. Perhaps google play services is not shutting down, causing the reboot hang.

Finally, I notice some apps reboot the device immediately whereas most reboot apps seem to initiate the normal shutdown routine--i.e. the shutdown that kills the gui but hangs either displaying the shutdownanimation or displaying the blank screen with notifications bar visible yet not responding to touch or to buttons. As such the reboot apps I found are useless in this case. Xposed installer is an app that immediately reboots the device. I suspect this is not graceful, but nor is pulling the battery.
So I will try this tonight. My cousin is using my v10 now and he hates the fact it doesn't reboot normally. Ill Wipe System and Data and see if that works to fix the reboot. After wiping system and data, do i need to reinstall part1 and part2 of 20L?

Do you have GPS issues while the phone is charging in a car?

No GPS issue while charging in car. I remember GPS problems with a previous build, and I'm wondering if this was corrected by a full wipe. Or it could have been a baseband update, I'm not sure.

I've given up on the reboot hang. I use the Xposed installer app reboot function--it has never hung out failed to reboot. it also doesn't seem to give apps any chance to save state. I'd still love a fix so I can use the power button!

I think I just hard bricked my phone while following this guide. I had an earlier version of the ROM installed and I wanted to update it. It was rooted, the bootloader was unlocked, and Marshmallow TWRP v3.0.2-0 was installed.

I skipped the first step since the latest TWRP was already installed. Tested recovery mode and fast boot, both worked. Copied these files to my external SD and booted into recovery mode:

Flashed V10_H901_V20L_Update_P1.zip
V10_H901_V20L_Custom_DeBloated__02_Tweaked_P2-signed.zip

I then wiped Data, System, Cache, Dalvik (no reboot). Flashed P1 followed by P2 (no rebooting). Both were successfully installed. Pulled the battery out, plugged in the USB cable and entered fastboot mode. Entered fastboot oem unlock command, it said already unlocked.

Then I entered the fast reboot command. The screen went black, it didn't boot into Android. That was the last time the screen lit up. Pulled the battery out and put it back, it doesn't power up, nothing on the screen. Tried holding volume down and power, nothing.

So, I guess I bricked it. I'm wondering what I did wrong - was I supposed to factory reset first? Is there anything I can do to reverse this unfortunate situation? If I plug the phone into my PC via USB while holding volume down and power, Windows says an unrecognized USB device was connected. That's the only sign of life it's showing.

If anyone can tell me I didn't do anything wrong and it was just a fluke thing, it would probably hurt a lot less (but it's probably not true).
Can you get back into TWRP? When I updated to L I flashed part 1 then rebooted back into TWRP and flashed part 2. If you can manually get back into TWRP you should be able to recover from this. If your computer won't recognize your V10 or you can't get into TWRP the only other suggestion I have is to check out tungkicks unbrick thread. Good Luck

I can't get back into TWRP, the phone will not power on at all (tried with battery and without battery plugged into USB, nothing). Tried hard resetting (volume down and power), nothing.

The instructions specifically say "DO NOT REBOOT" after flashing part 1 and 2, so that's what I did. I'm wondering if the fact that I didn't do a factory reset of the phone before flashing is what caused the brick (that wasn't in the instructions, but I've seen it for other ROMs).

I'm very careful, this is the first time I've ever bricked a phone in the 8 years I've been messing with custom firmware on smart phones. I'll check out the unbrick thread, thanks.

OMG, I just followed this guide and my phone turned on!

https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...ent/debrick-phone-h901-qualcomm-9008-t3440359

I can boot into TWRP too! I honestly don't know how that happened, it seems like Android is running off the external SD card (if I take it out it doesn't turn on). It says the software version is H90120I, except I'm not sure if the last character is "I" as in India or "L". Is it running off the SD card or was my original flash that bricked it successful?

I'm not sure how to proceed, should I try flashing the V20L ROM at the start of this thread again? I'm almost afraid to do that now that I have the phone back, I almost just want to just use it as is.

When I try to power it off by holding power sometimes it gets stuck on the T-Mobile logo, and sometimes it reboots instead of shutting down. Many thanks to sabresfan for referencing tungkick and his unbrick guide!

I did, in fact when I issued the "fastboot reboot" command after flashing the files, my phone became bricked.

When you installed this ROM, was it already rooted? Did it also have xposed already?

Yes to both. Anyway, I am no longer in this situation (TWRP boot loop). I flashed a stock unrooted V20L (bricked it again and had no other option). I'm just glad to have the phone working again. I know there's dirty cow, but I'm going to hold off on trying to root again for awhile.

I don't really want root either. What Stock ROM did you install? I may want to try it! :)
