Try opening your supersu app and check "enable su upon boot." Let me know if that works. Thx.
Same result, flashfire no worky. TWRP post-flash reboots around the 15 second mark after it gets to the setup wizard. Is there a log I can look at or send you? What else to help troubleshoot? I've wiped 6-8 times before flashing..

I have tried to back this up to my SD card using TWRP 2840 and it runs through the process but when I reboot there is no file on the card. All my old backups of CM 12.1 are there but not this one. Are my settings off somehow? Anyone have this issue? I also cannot delete old backups. It shows them deleted, but on restart they show up again.
Delete backups you don't want while in android, then go back to try the backup in TWRP. You may need to install TWRP again, if things still don't work.

Can you provide step by step instructions? I am on TWRP and would like to retain root?

Thank you.
It's easy.

Download ROM.
If you usually back up texts, call logs, etc., before flashing, do that.
Boot into TWRP.
Factory reset in TWRP
Install ROM
Reboot

Tah-dah. You will retain root.

You can try other kernels if you want to. It comes with Hybridmax, and a link to the stock kernel is in the OP.

All had been tried as you describe. Been doing this for years. Never had files that would not delete in either android or twrp

Just want to confirm, this is TW stock ROM, correct?

I am on ROM BoneStock4.3 and baseband is I545VRUAME7. Do you see any issue if I install this ROM? Sorry if I am asking dumb questions.

I downloaded and installed the rom yesterday, and my locks screen pin still is not working. It works for a couple times, and then doesn't ask for a pin at all. Any help?

Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Free mobile app

Volume with Earbuds

Flashed as soon as I could. On Verizon GS4 Dev edition, MDK. Really like it a lot. 1st day battery was draining pretty fast and I almost wiped.. But decided to give it some time and now getting much better. My only issue is the volume when using earbuds and listening to Audible Books. Haven't tested earbuds with a conversation but conversation without earbuds is fine. Any suggestions? Maybe a setting I don't know about?

Likely a kernel issue. Try surge's kernel from the OP.

Yes, it's stock TW ROM, rooted. Also includes the modem.

Wipe (factory reset) before installing.

Thanks - you didn't say you had tried in both recovery and in Android. That's even more curious.

Have you pulled the SD card to connect to computer and try to delete the files there?

I haven't seen this before, but wondering if the files you can't delete have been marked read-only somehow. Have you checked their permissions?

Interesting....

Just tried flashing the stock kernel, and booted fine, but no Wi-Fi. Rebooted, and the same. Just would not turn on - tried to turn it on in Settings but the on/off switch would not stay on. Never seen that before.

So tried flashing the AEL i9505 kernel and loki-doki and got the Verizon warning about non-legit SW on the device, in spite of the loki-doki, no boot.

Flashed back to hybrid max kernel w/loki-doki and things are OK again.

Anyone else tried the stock kernel in the OP, or other TW kernels w/success? This is MUCH more twitchy than things were on KitKat - I could flash pretty much any 9505 kernel, loki it, and go. Now on Lollipop, kernel changes don't seem to be as flexible. Anyone know why?

MDK running this ROM as posted and it's running awesome. No problems, lags and everything seems to be working correctly (I haven't had such luck on any other Lollipop ROM yet).
Thanks for this.

Thanks to all who responded to my file backup issue. My SD card won't write. Fortunately I was able to copy everything off it. Time for a new one.
Recommend the Samsung one on Amazon. Zero issues with it on two S4s.

Someone was asking where the OC1 modems are...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60458093

You shouldn't need them to install this ROM, it includes the correct modem setup.

I flashed the Stock Rom to correct volume level in my earbuds and it fixed that.. volume was great, but I had the same issue where WIFI would not work. So right now, dealing with Low volume vs. no wifi.

Does it have the right modem for mdk now? Have been trying to follow this thread but am not sure what is included in the latest rom in the OP.

Yeah I'm currently having the same issue with the low volume while using headphones. So what's my best option? Wait for more kernel tests and see which one fixes both WiFi and sound?

Back in the day when I was doing this stuff way in excess, I knew how to futz with files in System to troubleshoot Wi-Fi problems. But it's been too long and I'm no longer you to speed.

Hybridmax kernel 2.5 is out. Just flashed with Loki, and booted up fine. Did get a Knox has stopped message after boot, but things look normal, Wi-Fi still works, etc.

I found a fix for the volume issue on the hybridmax kernel. Just install the ROM normally with hybridmax pre-installed, head over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3058213 and download hybridmax's 2.3 kernel zip. Once done, open file with any zip viewer and locate the kernel tweaks.apk under System > priv-apps > KernelTweaks and install it. Then head into it, grant root access, and scroll to the sound section and move the headphone audio gain to any preference :). I personally have it all the way up due to the fact that I use the default bass booster in google play music. No need to switch kernels now!
