Ok so I'm wondering do I flash the 1st sprint update with kernal or do I flash the purley stock rom and kernals? Or do I flash both? I'm currently on stock tw I'm guessing mb1 since I can't get morphology to work and I'm wanting to go to md4 so I can use morphology. I'd like to flash without system wipe so I don't have to back everything up in phone but I'm confused on which to flash or if it even makes a difference? All I kno is that I want a stock deodexed rom to run morphology on. Sorry if this is a dumb or duplicate question

Did you read the op of morphology? There are a couple things that you need to do before it will work on this rom

Yeah I read it all I guess I couldn't find the right romantic since the update didn't work. I just said whatever and went on ahead with more. It's not really what I wanted but close enough

Hanging at Galaxy S3 logo

I flashed this to my Sprint S3 a while back, no issues. But today I've done something and borked it somehow. I re-flashed this ROM (full MD4 ODEX'd) and the phone hangs at the Galaxy S3 logo.

After I ran into the issue, I wiped data and ODIN'd back to stock, that worked fine. But then using ODIN to install CWM and flashing this ROM gets me back to the hang. I wiped data, cache and dalvik cache prior to flashing this ROM.

Any ideas?

Fixed it. Somehow the .zip I'd kept on my SD card had gotten corrupted. Redownloaded, worked fine. Now to see how old my Titanium Backups are...
Schedule TB to run at like 3am every night. If you got the room set it for two backups per app too. I find that keeps you pretty covered! In the event the ROM ever crashes you should be able to get a majority of your apps back in working order.

Am I still current?

I always run a rooted Sprint Stock GS3.
A few months ago I flashed (from TWRP) the
full odex rom MBD4 4.1.2 posted here and love
the multi windows. My question is do I still have the
most current Sprint Stock rom? I have heard there
have been a few OTA updates, or very recent to make
things more fluid, and I do not get any OTA updates
being rooted/stock, so I just wait for the latest rom to
be posted here and re-flash it. I see that MBD4 is still
the one posted, so am I missing updates or not? If so,
where can I get them, and can I just flash them from TWRP
like a hotspot flash?
Thanks

MD4 is the latest released or leaked.

What's the MC3 leaked I hear about though? Is that a sign of a new release.coming out?

MC3 was a leak previous to MD4. MD4 is the latest release, and became the official OTA.

The way Samsung names their firmware versions, it's very easy to tell which one is older or newer.
M - 2013
C - March
3 - 3rd
was when that firmware was built

M - 2013
D - April
4 - 4th
was when that firmware was built

If they decide to build a GS3 firmware on 2014 January 16, the build will be called NA16.

The more you know. :cowboy:

Also, note that the "M" is device specific. For example, for the Epic 4G Touch, "G" is 2013, so FF18 was 2012 (since G is 2013, F is 2012) June 18.

Oh so that's how it works! Thanks for the info!

Hmmmm stuck in boot screen

I feel so weird for asking this because I'm probably missing some statement in the opening post.

I've been with CM ROMs for a handful of months now, and just trying to flash a stock ROM to be able to change my PRL, then return to a CM nandroid backup.

However, whenever I try to flash the ROM in the first post, I just sit in a boot screen forever.

Any theories as to why this might be?
I've flashed tons of AOSP ROMs for the past year or so (over 50), but this is the only one that gives me a problem.

Is it because I'm trying a dirty vs clean flash?
Is I'm coming from a Deodexed ROM, would it matter if an Odexed ROM gets installed, or do I have to stay Deodexed unless I do a full wipe?
Bad download?
Bad install?
The TW ROM doesn't play nice with the kernel or modem or firmware I had coming from a CM ROM?

I'm solely placing the TW ROM zip file on the internal sd and using TWRP 2.6 to install.

Any feedback for theories would be helpful.

Thx for some feedback. I have seen and experienced differences with clean or dirty installs, and I have heard of 'make sure you do a clean' between flashing ROMs, but just wondering if it's a 'golden rule' or 'high suggestion'...that is what's keeping me from getting through a boot on this TW ROM. Is this a 100% experience for all?...that you HAVE to do a clean flash between major ROMs? I don't mind if a dirty flash has broken bluetooth or wifi or any other broken stuff...I'm just trying to get it to boot to flash the PRL.

The original posts/FAQs say, not required but 'better' when coming from the same type of ROM, so just wondering

Thanks for the tidbit on the LJ7, I was wondering about that too, might be a factor, I'll have to research.

It's so nice seeing that one can flash a PRL on the GS4 without even rebooting or using recovery or going to another ROM
It's so frustrating spending all the time going back to a TW ROM just to flash a PRL and then restore a nandroid and backups, takes me about 3 hours with distractions from family and such.

Clean flash will definitely be required when coming from a cm rom, not only if it a significant rom change but also a significant OS base change, also an md4 rom will be fine, you'll just have to find the md4 prl write enabler and flash that also...

Edit-flash this to enable the prl write in the ##data# menu http://db.tt/NBXiHFhK

Apparently quite a few users have had this issue. I first saw it about 10 days ago., Four or five days ago Google acknowledged the problem and said at the time there was no workaround, but that they were investigating.
