How long does this take. I'm in step 2 , fastboot ~w and its been saying erasing 'userdata' for about 30 minutes now. I have 500 gig shield

I did not but i have restarted the process

I let the process complete for a 2nd time followed instructions exactly and I got the same android man. It says...

--wiping data...
Formatting /data...

Is this a soft brick and what did i do wrong?

I think its something to do with the 500 gig model we will have to let zulu answer for sure but thats what im thinking

Yes i just read over in the root thread there are problems with the 500g. I was rooted on 6.0 til just few minutes ago. Question is how do i get back to stock firmware?

So, this is android tv base, but with a full play store? Does it mean, that we can install amazon prime instant video on this?

the app installed and I was able to browse but as soon as I tried playing a video it would force close, on a whim I uninstalled the amazon apps and installed the EDITED version (ONLY, no Prime Video Launcher) from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tv/development/amazon-prime-video-demand-android-tv-t3278778 and it works, but controls are a little funky, it takes like a double mouse click to click any button in the video interface.


OP, is there anyway to use the stock Leanback Launcher, I feel it's easier to navigate with the remote, really just wanted this for the added app compatibility.

Wifi Tethering

Hi Zulu!

I currently use your full Android 5.1 firmware. It is very nice, stable and it allows me to activate WiFi tethering in android settings, I could not do with the stock firmware !

However my nvidia gamepad ended up in a drawer and never emerged. I want to know if in this new version (6.0 Marshmallow stock) I can enable wifi tethering?

yes it is android tv based so yes every nvidia accesories work.

I'm soft bricked trying to flash this ROM, can anyone help. I already downloaded the 3.0 prerooted files off of nvidia and they did not work. Still the android man. Can anyone please help me get back to stock firmware so i can do anything

Download the factory image of the shield and follow the step to restore it.
And use the flashall.bat to avoid any stranges behaviors.

I downloaded the dev rooted one and it didn't work still bootlooped. Downloading the stock consumer file now

Do this through fastboot right?

I Downloaded the factory image folder of the shield 500gb followed the instructions . I flashed all necessary parts (staging blob, boot.img, recovery. Img, system.img , and vendor.img) still when fastboot reboot I get the android man bootloop . I am very frustrated, please help in getting my stock firmware back on here

Of course, it was the first thing I did yesterday. I verified multiple times again today. Everything goes through the process OK , no errors on adb at all. I tried 3 times with no luck. Everytime just goes back to the android man twirling. I'm extremely upset because I feel like I have ruined my shield all because I wanted a custom rom. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.

You could try after everything has flashed correctly, 'fastboot boot recovery.img' using the February version twrp from the twrp thread, then try to a factory reset from there? Worth a shot :/

zulu99 tell me please. Why not display any keyboard except Leanback? This adds some inconvenience. I tried to install several different keyboards from the Market, but no one does not work. when you try to go to the language settings of any keyboard is always an error. With this you can do something?
