After my G5 plus died,
I bought this phone hoping for a similar great dev community.

Trying to read through every post,it's difficult to gague which Roms are truly stable and also are ongoing in development...

Could someone please share their thoughts on what they find to be a great rom. I currently am unable to flash 5 Roma a day like I used to,so I hope that perhaps someone has and can lend me some insight..

I am happy with quirks in a rom..but what worries me is I require a few things mandatory for my life.

Bluetooth without drain (I play music at work)
Magisk (Viper sound)
Xposed
Nfc bank app payment
Modem that doesn't have absurd Signal issues
Not too many reboots in a day
No boot loops that require me to go home and use fastboot

what is everyone's thoughts..

Thank you very much

Mmmmmm, almost all ROMs for Moto G5s plus has Android 9 and Xposed is not developed for it. The only ROM I know has a 8.1 version where you can use Xposed is Pixel Experience. It passes safety net and worked flawlessly. I won't lie you: I never tried Xposed on that ROM using that Android Version. If you want to, go ahead and try, maybe it works. Also you said you want to use bank payment with NFC. NFC usually works, but the issue is between Xposed and safety net... Those pals don't get along well... I tried it once using nougat and it didn't worked. I think I'm not forgetting anything! Good luck!

Not too worried about safety net as I don't use Google pay and I switched to a bank that doesn't care if I'm rooted or pass safety net. (lol previous bank decided to ban rooted phones so I told them why I left) and I will be happy to go to either 8 or 9.0 as lollipop has stupid Bluetooth drain anyway. I guess xposed isn't that big of a deal.. I'll try the pixel experience one then thank you

It depends if you want a customizable one or a similar one to native. If you want a similar one to native the Pixel Experience(the one with Android 9) is the one for you. If you want a customizable one, I recommend you Havoc, Superior OS or AEX... They are great ROMs and offer lot of custom functionality and are very stable. Also there is people there uploading last security patches. There are other ROMs but I didn't have enough time to try them all :(. Some of them are great(very beautiful ones), but some of them are not upgraded with every month security patch or don't fix features that are working bad. I tried Pixel Experience lot of times and it worked great! Never disappointed me with big issues! About the customizable ROMs, I tried some of them for over a month and they are really cool too... It depends if you want to pass safety net... I don't remember which passes and which does not, hope this helps!

Wow - IMO it should be illegal for companies to sell phones without granting customers root access to their own device!

If you don't have root, it's not really even your phone. No, you are carrying a phone that is setup by somebody else/some other company with the software that THEY want running on it and you have no way to remove/disable the things that you don't want...

I agree.that's why I stick currently to the cheap Moto line because I instantly unlocked the bootloader and rooted plus magisk and xposed..the only issue is the own 7.1 Rom has Bluetooth battery drain issue so would like to upgrade

You can upgrade from Nougat to Pie. It's okay. But you should have some considerations first. Android Pie ROMs use treble recovery. There is a TWRP version of that. You have to flash that recovery in order to flash some packages like magisk and because with some ROMs is required. Another consideration only if you are flashing magisk: flash the latest package, you will save some trouble on some ROMs. And the last: if you notice fingerprint is not working don't freak out, there is a package that solves that too! Ohhh I was actually forgetting about another detail... If you notice you can't record videos with WhatsApp then you are missing EIS(some stabilization stuff), there is a package for that too. And if you have issues with safety net... You guessed! There is another package for that too! Also Magisk have a module for that but sometimes it worked and sometimes it messed it all! Try it only if the package for safety net fails. If you have trouble finding the packages ask me! Happy testing!
