Thanks a lot RIL works with that patch!
Further tests:
* Camera, Video recording/playback, Mic: '''OK'''
* Audio file playback, including FLAC: '''OK'''
* Bluetooth headphone, including battery level display: '''OK'''
* Fingerprint scanner: '''partially OK'''
** As with previous ROMs, it sometimes detects a finger, but does not recognize it
* VPN (as being used by Netguard for traffic filtering): ''''Not OK''''
** with VPN activated, no traffic goes through; according to Netguard forum this is most likely a LOS 15.1 issue

@metterschling: does deep sleep work for you on the T715?
Can't prove it as I haven't got a wakelock detector app installed and just upgraded from ripee's variant (where it didn't work), but so far battery drain is 5% the last hour while the tab was not in use with WiFi and mobile active, so I assume it is _not_ working. It helped before to use Airplane mode (with WiFi on) to achieve 1day lifetime, I'll continue with that if the drain stays as is.

Further tests:
* USB OTG: with USB stick and serial connection to a microcontroller board: OK

this is my standby graph on t715 . (los15+gapps clean install)

i fixed (maybe not fully) vpn. vpn brings up, but traffic is not going through using netguard. i upload fixed kernel to test. (for t715 only). probably i do something wrong with netguard itself. i use last version from github.

Thank you for looking into the VPN issue! I flashed the new kernel but no change to the previous kernel for me, VPN is active, but traffic does not get passed through, so apps can't access the internet, even those who are not restricted by Netguard. For example, Firefox reports a protocol error after a couple of seconds.

I had mine on standby for a week and only lost about 5% in accumulator charge with my wi-fi turned off since I tend to barely use it nowadays. IMO that's just the auto discharge of it instead of anything else and it's a significant improvement over last summer's build.

Can't update TWRP beyond twrp_2.8.7.1_LL_5.1.1_t710.tar

Versions newer than than twrp_2.8.7.1_LL_5.1.1_t710 gets me stuck in a logo boot loop following flash. When I flash that version back, I can again get to recovery. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong? The goal is to install LOS 15.1/16.0 on my SM-T710 (wifi only).

I've tried the 'treble' enabled image from this thread as well as the gts28wifi/gts28vewifi from twrp.me.

Background: tablet was rooted some time ago with kingo but the ROM was not changed from stock (5.1.1).

Second (maybe related) question: how to determine if my model is SM-T710 2015 (gts28wifi) or 2016 (gts28vewifi)?

Thanks to developers here and other success stories, I'll keep banging my head until I too succeed : )

you have old bootloader. you should flash latest stock rom before using new twrp and customs roms.
you can see your model in download mode (pwr+home+vol down)
t710 is 2015 exynos
t713 is 2016 snap

Thanks. I'll get latest stock and go it again.

Follow up:
- downloaded and flashed latest stock rom with odin
- flashed 'treble' enabled twrp image with odin
- rebooted to recovery and wiped everything before installing lineage15.1, mindthegapps8.1
- rebooted to brand spanking new tablet!!

Thanks for the outdated bootloader tip, updating it fixed everything.

Indeed deep sleep works, however there is a huge variance in battery consumption. After the last boot I've got optimal battery lifetime as well (see attached graph). The difference to the previous boot is that fingerprint is not working at all now while it nearly worked 100% before the boot.
Note that I see exactly the same with a Galaxy S5 mini, LOS16. Fingerprint working: 3 days battery lifetime, fingerprint not working: 10 days.

Hi all,
rom is great, light and fast. no issues so far.
I have question about charging. Now tab is connected to charger (S8 fast charger) and has 49% battery and it says it will take 5 hours to fully charged.
Is that normal?
This is "new" tablet for me so... I did replace battery last week.
****
Update
Yes it is battery issue because it is new, i gues it will come to normal after some time of use. On the other hand battery life is incredible, with moderate use it lasts for day and half. :)

I really love this rom, all working with no problem

I'm not responsible for any damage to your device of any sort.
By flashing this you take responsibility of anything that happens.
    Process at your own risk!

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community

    Requirements:
    - treble supported twrp 3.2.0+
    - backup everything before install
    - wipe data before upgrading from LineageOS 14.1 or stock rom

    Install:
    - Flash zip in compatible TWRP
    - Don't forget about gapps (arm 8.1)

Google apps should be installed via recovery immediately after installing ROM.
If you reboot into ROM before installing Google apps, you must factory reset and then install them, otherwise expect crashes.

    Known issues:
    none

    new build is here
    changelog:
    -fixed mobile data on t715
    -fixed autobrightness on t710
    -fixed video recording
    -fixed fingerprint
-fixed gps on t710. gps disabled on t715, because it causes reboot.

microphone doesn't work in sound recorder. but works in calls. I think I broke mic in nougat builds, so I need more time to find out the issue. Also I haven't noticed any issues with 3d games and benchmarks.

    Changelog to build 0531:
the goal of this build was simple: to make base platform as stable as possible.
    - kernel has been rebuild from scratch based on latest samsung sources.
    - device config has been revised and almost all reworked.
    - fixed offline charging.
    - tuned brightness settings
    - used another fingerprint hal
    - fixed gps on lte models
    - probably something else

But I couldn't fix microphone and I know it's my own bug which I made in nougat. And I'm sure I fixed it before, but forgot to push to git. I hope I will find solution to it some day.
